How about trap corridor? Dig a long hall, fill of stonefall traps and cages. It would be rather effective.

Are Thralls building destroyers?
I guess no. At least if they weren't before thrallification.

Stone traps are effective against undeads, but not thralls. Serrated discs or giat axes would do... but we have none. I hope cage traps work.

Another cloud drifted, and we got more thralls.

Giant Crab creeping soot thrall Corpse. Armok's balls.

Udil the Brewer volunteered for bookkeeping job. I also volunteered her for manager's. She wants us to call her Brainy, and I don't see any objections.

First barrel of dwarven wine was made. A bit late, but we had a lot of stuff to do. Time to celebrate!
Monom - a trader of migrants - is our broker now, and also he's a dabbling architect. If he needs a depot, he should build it himself. And build us that smashing bridge for Plan B.

Migrants have arrived. On the outer side of river. Thats a problem - if neither soot not thrall get them, they will staver to death. We can't do much for them now, though, so lets just hope they survive.
Monom, finish the goddamn bridge!

Migrants are harrased by hamster woman thrall... They managed to avoid it so far, but their animals aren't so lucky

Holy carp, it infected the duckling!

Cage traps are working. Such a relief. Time to lure others!

Migrants managed to outrun thralls and cross the flooded shore. Lucky bastards! There's a great mechanic, a stoneworker, a planter and a wax worker.

Give the thralls to the elves!
Sure thing. Thralls will be our main export, since we have almost no crafters here (leatherworker, wax worker and jeweller, and we have no wax, leather and just a few rock crystals)

Eisenkreuz's Journal:

I hope these plebeians will figure something to deal with the undead infestation.
I've heard stories about "thralls" and "husks". I've heard about mighty warriors turned into thralls themselves after a simple contact.
I joined these peasants to fight ancient horrors in the depths, to witness the riches in the dark caverns...and below them.

These twisted abominations change everything...I must be careful.

Just look how Avuz deals with thralls, leaving us without source of prosperity

Good job, actually.

Dwarven caravan popped out just at time the cloud passes by. Also there are thralls that harrased migrants. I guess their fate is decided...

AsI thought, they were enthralled. But suddenly they started to fight each other. Holy shit. I have no idea how to stop them.

Diplomat made inside without any damage. Lucky bastard.

Dwarves tried to charge for socks dropped by caravan pull anima, but I restricted them. I'm the most sane person here.

It's winter here. Or what's called winter here - I don't see any difference, it's still hot like hell outside.
And it's populated like hell - dwarf and buffalo thralls fighting each other, domestic bird thralls just idling around and a herd of undead albatros men

Dwarf Thrall shows no damage ant looks like her skill has grown to godly level! I hope we won't have to fight that thing. Her opponent looks bad even for zombie - legs broken and torn apart, guts popped out.. but it doen't care about that, still attacking the dwarf.

Tun Zefonbavast the Wax Worker got posessed and crafted Uttegrasp, a gneis mug. Not much decotated thing, but nice anyway. Gotta taste some wine from it.

We're woking on widening the narrow cave so wagons can reach us. And spamming it with anti-thrall cage traps.

Eisenkreuz was ambushed by giant cave spider! The beast jumped at him when he was cutting trees.. He got tied by webs just in moment, and the beast tried to bit his head off... thanks his copper helm it didn't pass throught! I took the pack of wardogs and charged to help him... But that didn't do, I got stcuk in webs too.
So, the disposition now is - we all are stuck in the webs, spider shoots more and more, and ocasionally chews my or Eisenkreuz' helmets. One dog is dead.

That is very serious.

Phew, one on wardogs managed to get free of webs and attacked the spider, first taking it down and then crushig its head. Good dog!
And we're both very skilled armor users now - whenyou're tied you have no choice but protect yourself with any means!

THe wet season have arrived. Beware of its flooding rains.

That spider fight harmed Eisenkreuz more than I supposed. Hunger and thrist he suffered while was tied by webs and gnawed by spider made him psychologically unstable, and also he took the death of that dog too close. So, now he's unhappy and blames me in anything. I hope he will get well soon - I even gave him first personal room we have here.

Avuz ignores my orders and spends his time idling around instaed of digging. I'm starting to hate her, but she's the only miner we have and we need her. I'm looking forward to the migrants who just have to arrive soon. If they won't get into soot cloud or thrall claws - we'll get a large boost!

Speaking of thralls, hammerlord and buffalo still fight each other. I have no idea how to stop them. Also there are some other thralls and zombies, but no one have found a way into our cave so far. Avuz finally widened the way for wagons, and the last obtacle left is the tree that grows just outside the cave. And Eisencreuz still complains about bitter times. Shit.

There was a gremlin who tried to run away, but I got him with my spear.

The fortress attracted no migrants this season.

Shit, why?

Elven caravan have arrived. Let's see what you got, pointy-ears!

And just at that time Adil the leatherworker got a fey mood. We have no leather here, so I order some of our cattle for butcher. Or maybe he can sneak and steal some leather from first caravan?

Elves finally made to the depot. There also was a kobold thief thrall, but it quickly ran away just after was discovered. Seems they remain cowards even under the evil spell.

- We don't have many goods here, so take this hen thrall. That's an unique specie!
....
- Oh, I forgot you don't like wooden cages... Next time we'll make some metal ones. And now offer me all your stuff in exchange. See ya! Beware of soot clouds!

Hammer Lord thrall?

Last evil biome fort I made, there were 4-5 hammer lord thralls that spent the entire game beating on a melancholic water buffalo cow thrall. I paraded migrants right past them and they didn't care. They're harmless.

Welcome, this is Dwarf Fortress, where a fluffy wanbler can decapitate a bronze colossos, and armed and trained warriors zombified by evli curse are harmless.
It's so nice if you, game, to drop the ticking bomb here.

Adil, with cost of water buffalos and llama slaughter finally finished his creation.

All we need is a masked dwarf who would fight the evil off. But all we have for now is the mask.

Goddamn Avuz, stop throwing a party and go digging!
