Quakewheeled, Cavern Survival Story game
« on: June 17, 2014, 03:06:12 pm »

This used to be a story of Quakewheeled, the cavern settlement at the terrifying surroundings with zombifying weather. Now it will continue as hermit settlement of last survivors.

-Arrived! Get the hell out of the wagon!

Zasit Winegirdles jumped over the board and unfolded the map. That's a wonder, but looks like this IS the place. He found someone's note on the map:

- "It might bi viri difficilt ti sirvive hiri." Pussies.

Surroundings don't look very dangerous. A river, with a hippo herds, an ocean shore without any sign of life, and a rocky hill southeast. They said there's a cave in it, have to check. But first - the official part:

- Attesh, grab the axe and armor, you and me are going down! Scared, eh? Others - bring the stuff closer to the hill! Don't play with hippos, they are way too badass.

The expedition into the darkness was very friutful. Zasit and Attesh killed some wild trolls and giant bats, and reached the nice cavern full of mushrom trees and moss

- This land is MINE! Do you smell this, Attesh?
- Ehm... a moss. sir?
- Freedom, dumbass! Okay, lets get back to the surface.

- So, what's happened here, Avuz?
- Well.. first there were undead giant horseshoe crab. It was attacking hippos, and then one of them kicked it and shattered the whole beast dead. And second, the river is crazy. It flows with enormous power and floods the shore - luckily our wagon is out of the reach. I tried to make a safety channel, but the flow is too strong, it pushes you upside down.
- We'll deal with it later. Now we got to move everything down! We inhabit the cavern and don't give a damn about surface. And you, Avuz, got to dig us a living room down there!

OOC: So,this is yet another story game. I gonna inhabit a cave system and dig quarters inside stalactites and cave walls. Feel free to request dorfings - Zasit and Attesh are males and military guys, others are females and workers.

Cool, I love the caverns.
Can I have one of the soldiers?
Nickname: Eisenkreuz. Give him a hammer if possible.

Looking forward to a miserable death against some forgotten beast.

Can I have a dwarf as well? Name her "Lizzy the Lizard". Any profession will do.

Zasit is kind of main character (i.e. MY character), I can give you Astesh the axedwarf (and woodcutter when off-duty). Or you can wait for any hammerdwarves to arrive.

Sure!

- Astesh, you can be off duty now. That means you go and do civil jobs.
- Sir. Call me Eisenkreuz.
- ...?!
- I want to have that name. There're many Asteshes, but Eisenkreuz is a unique name.
- Oh god. Okay, Eisenkreuz, you're off duty now and you are to move that stuff inside! Anybody else wants to change his name?

- I do. Call me Lizzy, the Lizard.
- ...nobody heard abour sarcasm here...Okay, Lizzy the Lizard, you're hauling those barrels too. Everybody hauls!

I knew it. I knew that this place has a few secrets. I really hope we're safe from creepy cloud when are down there. The cloud drifted across the plain to the other side of river, and no mantis men were caught by it. For now.
Hippos migrated away before the cloud came, maybe they have a feel for it? Should watch the animals in this case.

Avuz have dug a room for dining hall and started the dormitory room. Sincewe have no beds and no time for them now, we sleep on rough cavern floor. This strengthens our spirit!

The fever of nicknaming goes on.
- My new name is Kaladin. K - A- L -A ...
- Fine, fine. I've writen it down already. So, dear Kaladin, why don't you take this boulder and BUILD THE FUCKING DOOR?!?!  >:(

Summer comes, and two new clouds drifted across the place. Looks like they suddenly dissolve over seashore - maybe that's humidity or strong sea winds.

Rooms are finished and beds installed. I'm presonalyy smoothing walls and floors of it - not a hard job when you learn it.

Hot summer makes everyone lazy. One by one they go on break and just idling around! At least Eisenkreuz does a few combat drills at new armor stand, and so do I.

The grass on the surface burns out. Thanks gods we're at nice cool underground...

Suddenly the rain starts. The piles of wet soot is everywhere, hope that will clean them.

A group of migrants arrived today. Nine dwarves total - a wood burner, a cook, a trader, a brewer, butcher and spinner, a farmer with macedwarf skill, a leatherworker, a jeweller and two children

Oh crap. The piles of soot aren't safe at all. A hen steppend into it, and then...

- Eisenkreuz! Bring here your axe NOW!

If everyone doesn't die in about 5 seconds because husks, I'd like to be dwarfed as a mechanic.

Oh, I wish we had a machanic here... But we have not, and should deal with thralls by bare hands...

Any available dorf remaining should become the book-keeper/historian.  Try to make him/her the oldest living dwarf in the group and name him/her "Brainy", Profession: "Smurf".

Oohh thralls, awesome.
Nevermind the forgotten beasts, a glorious death against thralls is acceptable as well.

"From the diary of Lizzy, the Lizard:

Oh, it's finally summer! I so do love the weather! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the evil thralls outside are screeching. It's so cool and humid here down in the caves, and I'd rather sunbath at the top! If only there wasn't all that creepy dust around... Mr. Zasit and Mr. Eisenkreuz should be really careful in fighting with the monsters outside."

She's a carpenter, but mostly hauler these days. I like her "prefers to consume voracious cave crawler" and will try to capture some... if we all survive thralls invasion

Avuz managed to run away from thralls. While she was running here and there on the surface we took doors from dining hall and installed them into passage. Kaladin promised to build more doors.

When Avuz goth her chance and rushed into passage, we locked doors. Now the thrall problem isn't the emergency, but very important anyway. I developed The Plan:

Plan A - build cage traps and catch thralls. If it fails, we have
Plan B - smash thralls with drawbridge. In case they avoid it, we have the last
Plan C - charge and try to decapitate or cut in halves them. Thats where Eisenkreuz should do his best.

The dry season has come. Ponds on the surface dried, but who cares...
