The one about collecting artifacts seems appropriate for the type of activities you'll be doing and for the stuff I've already drafted.

I don't know about poverty, it would have to be something global, not just related to the players. To solve it you would have to somehow enrichen the region, not just fill your pockets

Somewhere in the Meridian...

A dark office. A wealthy-looking man is sitting at an ornate desk, arranging its contents. He loudly clears his throat, and a few seconds later, the door opens.

In walks a hooded man. He approaches the desk and sits across the other man.

"So? Do you have it?"

The man in the hood nods. From under his robes he produces a metal box, intricate and alien looking patterns adorning its surface. "It was a lot of trouble getting it" he mutters in a terribly mysterious and deep voice.

"Please, tell me all about it! How did you get it? I need to know... I need to be sure it's the real thing..."

The hooded man makes a long pause. "Very well... it all started in Port Astral..."


Wade, Briggs and Gethron are walking down the busy streets of Port Astral, heading towards their usual haunt, the Kelp Golem, to plan their next score. It has been a slow season and booty has been scarce, and who knows? Sometimes someone in a bar gets chatty and reveals a bit more about their cargo than they should.

Soon they arrive at the tavern. It's still a bit early and the place is quieter than usual, which means only about half the normal amount of drunkards are being tossed out the door each minute.

They stand outside the door for a few moments, pondering their next action...

"Aw, hell. It's my turn to buy, isn't it. Welp, let's get inside before someone decides they don't like our looks."

Briggs motions to enter the tavern

[Kadzar]

"I reckon it is, Mr. Briggs. But hold up, a second; I need to make sure I look my best."

Before going in Captain Wade takes off his tricorn hat for a quick inspection. The trim is coming loose and the attached plume has certainly seen better days. He tries to straighten out the flights of the long feather, only making a slight improvement. Somewhat satisfied, he motions for Briggs to lead the way.

Once they're seated, he asks, "So, did you two find any good leads today?"

Gethron grunted from under the hood of his large, form-concealing cloak. Even here, at the Kelp Golem, it made work smoother to keep his body hidden as much as possible.
"Strangely enough, not many people were willin' to talk to me. Or around me. It's the damndest thing."

[GentlemanRaptor]

Briggs shook his head. "As you may be aware, I'm not the best with people. And besides, nobody around here really needs much done in the way of theft and piracy these days. Bloody Navy's everywhere."

[Kadzar]

"Well, I asked around, and..."

I'm not sure how we're handling rolling for skills here, but I rolled a 2 in roll20 for my contacts skill to try to find work.

Been a bit busy at work today, I apologize if I'm a bit slow with posting.

One way to use Contacts is to try to declare a story aspect as a Create Advantage action. You rolled a +2, and you have Contacts +1, so you rolled a +3, which is a Good Roll. Normally you'd tell me before rolling so that I can set a target difficulty first, so let's assume I said you have to beat a +2 (which is pretty average I think), so you succeed.

Then you tell me something appropriate, or we discuss it, for example: "I talked to my contacts in the bar and they told me they'll keep their Ears and Eyes Open", where that last thing is a situational aspect (placed on the location, or yourself, for example). This by itself doesn't make anything happen, but now you have an aspect you can use, with a free invocation too.

Mostly we'll just go back and forth roleplaying the situations, no need to roll for everything, not even for exploration (I'm not going to make Notice rolls every turn to see if you miss a secret door nor not)

Obviously, try to keep the Actions to a reasonable amount between interactions as we're not doing turn-based right now (in Conflicts it's more clear cut since if you do one of the Actions you use up your turn)

So, the next step is that I should try to say what's going on in the bar around you, I'll try to get on that in the morning, heh. But remember, talking is a free action so just keep up the banter as much as you want. In a way I'm just another player and I'm going to pop up with some NPC and say something I guess?

Actually, my roll would be a +2, since I added my contacts skill to the roll. (And, btw, if other people join the game, you can a Fate dice roll by typing "/roll 4dF" to which you can add any modifiers.) So I would probably get a boost instead, since I tied, right?

And I didn't mean to break up the roleplaying, but I thought I should roll to see if I actually learned anything from talking to people instead of arbitrarily deciding yes or no, and also that this was probably a good time to better define how we're doing things.

A voluptuous wench approaches your table carrying mugs of frothing grog. She unceremoniously dumps them on your table, saying "that's will be 9 crons. In advance" she adds, tapping her foot impatiently. Everyone notices she seems to be in a bad mood, her eyes narrowed and focused on Wade.

[Kadzar]

Wade hunches down to hide his face from her.

"You heard the good woman; pay up, Mr. Briggs," he says, trying to disguise his voice by talking in a gruffer tone.
