Hey, he might get lucky. Not like I'll be sending his guys out alone. I'm not a complete ass. :P

So I'm supposed to feel better because you're not stacking the deck against my character's survival quite as much as you could? :V  You're still taking steps to ensure my character is more likely to die. I get that you stated in the OP that our dorfs will die and you won't try to cloister named dwarves like most succession forts, but specifically putting a dorf in a position to be killed disrespects the (admittedly-marginal in this case) effort put into establishing their character. If you still want to go through with this, I'll just suck it up and make a new character, but I'd rather that not have to happen.

I'm sorry to disrupt the thread, but I really think I should stand up for myself here. I don't think this is really important enough to clog up any more of the thread with, though, so I'll let Splint post his response (if any) and then if I still feel like bitching I'll do it in a PM (with his consent).

Jeeze Froggie, really? If your character dies, it's not hard to pull a Battlefailed and spawn a Mr Frog II with almost identical personalities. Andreus got away with it up to an insane point.

More to the point, it's a bloody game.

Sorry Reudh, didn't mean to piss you off. I'll shut up for now.

Journal of Tirion, 141

So much death. Horses, dwarves... goddamn goblins killing everything outside our walls. I didn't hope for a peaceful glade when I came here, but I thought our army could deal with invaders like it did back home. Some time ago I woke up to see I created the best goddamn cage I could dream of making... only to not remember how I made it, and to see I covered it in images of our dwarves getting slaughtered by greenskins. I made an artifact that's as depressing as magnificent, and I haven't learned a thing about carpentry from it. Working with wood just doesn't feel satisfying after that, you know.

But what could I do? I'm just a humble (OOC: what caste am I again?) civilian, with no skills in war at all. Enlisting would only earn me a pointless death. But if there are any projects to improve the fortress, I'll volunteer for it. In fact, I had a thought about corpse management I'll bring to Splint: we have a lot of corpses around here, we should see if there is any way to use them as a resource (OOC: is Ironbone and/or Bloodsteel still in? As for non-butcherable bodies, can we offer them at the temple of Armok to (sometimes) get bloody weapons/armour?) . If not, we should at least get rid of them, or throw them all in a safe, locked away place. I have heard too many stories of them rising in various ways and going on rampages.

@Monitor Lisard:

Just occurred to me... should I try to involve your dorf in my dorf's journals? It seems odd for them not to at least mention each other, seeing as how they're siblings... Can't imagine they'd have much of a relationship, though, seeing as how Vectie's kind of a loner and Mr Frog's an uber-douche.

You can do as you wish. There's no need to mention her, but you can give your dwarfs opinion on his dull elder sis who's obsessed with large reptiles.  :P

Acknowledged. Expect a colourfully-worded in-character description of just how lame Mr Frog thinks your character is* the next time I can think to fit it in. I might also have him pull a small prank on her as well (you can respond to this in-character if you like or just ignore it and keep doing your thing, I'm fine either way).

Please assign another Player's dwarf a specific bladed weapon and rename it "Highmax".  The story is, that for some reason or other the blade has become possessed of demonic intelligence: muttering to itself quietly in the middle of the night, shifting with a barely perceptible pulse in the hands of its new owner and most importantly, bonding to it's "owner's" soul.  For every foe that Souleater helps them slay, it will grow in power and force of will, attempting to possess it's bearer and drive him into a murderous berzerk frenzy.  Should they ever be slain, his soul will reside in the grip of the weapon, bound to the demon blade forever.  However, such will be the malevolent power of the demon within by that time, that it will devour the soul of any who attempt to take up the blade and the soul held captive in the grip will slip into the spiritual vacancy, to be "reborn" anew as a "walk in".

The Player's dwarf gets a cursed immortality and the blade becomes legendary in time from all who use it:  Win/win

(Incidentally, I will be playing the part of the demon blade myself.)

And with that, I am finally up-to-date on my lame in-character commentary. Wooooo

Now that I've made an Udir-gets-hit-in-the-balls joke, the odds of him actually being female in-game have increased incalculably.

@ Mr Frog - You'll more than likely be deployed alongside The Caverns of Hatred which lowers your chance of a horrible death by a good bit. Unless of course, being more lightly armored, your squad doesn't just sprint ahead and get themselves skewered on pikes or something. :P Not actually gonna send you up against the bowgoblins. Like I said, I'm not quite that big of an asshole. But if I had to put my money on which squad will both A. Kill more enemies, and B. come out of the fight with everyone alive/unmangled or maimed, it's gonna be on The Caverns.

@ Timeless Bob - I can't exactly name a sword unless there's some script for it I don't know about.

Eh, I'm not pissed off, at worst I was a little annoyed. Perhaps I was a bit too strong about it :P.

Far as I know yes to both but that requires the workshops and space for which we don't have yet.

If we have another carpenter, I volunteer as workforce for them. Turn me into an apostle of Armok if it's required for that. What caste am I anyway?

Not in a guild far as I know, but I'm at the dentist right now so I can't check. Also, we may need to research the lab to make that stuff in, I'm not sure.

"From the diary of Vexxy the Crocodile:

"Today I wanted to take a look at my new place (or, as Splint calls it, the hunters lounge). And guess what? I managed to run into MY FUCKING BROTHER. Oh yeah, papa always told me that little scoundrel will end up in some bloody military outpost... Same for me actually. He's now taller than me, buff and has a bushy beard, and he still calls me Vector (He always wanted a brother instead of sister, didn't he?). I've heard that some legion guy rammed his shield right into Udir's crotch, but I didn't think it was Mr Froggie. Anyway, I'm kinda pleased to meet him, even though he was betting with that fat bitch Udir on how long the poor scaly tribal will stand against one of the plumpies (those fungy guys are getting even creepier). I heard that my brother had entered the Legion, but it appears they sacked him... For something? I don't really know. Whatever."

Figured I have one more story detailing the arrival at the fort, meeting Splint, and getting assigned the task of getting hard metals. Then I can work on updates to the fort proper, and more into thoughts on current events.

Out of curiosity, is Nobgost the beast dissector dead from the liver thing? I saw the OP his name in the list of green, but don't recall if he died from it in the update posts.
