@ Monitor - Actually she's married to the blind fisherdwarf, and she uses a crossbow, not a javelin thrower. As far as the bone munitions it isn't that they aren't effective but she's been shooting things the size of a small car.
@ Mr Frog - Done and done, Mr Frog Oramsigun. He's Vexxy's little brother (found that out after the fact,) and fittingly he's also a legionnaire dwarf.
@ Reudh - Heh, thanks. I try.
EDIT: Guess what kids, it's that time again.
Guess what kids, it's time for another lesson on the world! or at least the world as the Shovel of Hope understands it from a mythological standpoint.
The Shovel of Hope, being a dwarven nation, worships primarily a pantheon of deities. However, there's also a cult based around the worship of Vile Plague Wraith Aracurade Dressedblueness, The Whiskered Viper, along with the so-called Snake Cult that practices the worship of the Asp God Rulush Beachedseals.
First on out list is Avuz Carminemines. Depicted as a female dwarf, she is said to go everywhere bedecked in fine jewelry and carries bags of minerals such as casserite and chromite, seeding the land for enterprising miners. An important part of any good miner or jeweler's job is to be mindful of Avuz and pay homage where appropriate, even if they don't worship her.
Next is Stettad. Depicted by most as a male dwarf, he is associated with wealth. Most often he will appear as a dwarf of great affluence, and one of his temples is used as the royal treasury in Workedsilks, as is fitting.
And now we come to Tath, The Cloaked Bewilderment! He is seen every garbed in bandana and craftsdwarf blue, and never without his bag of tools. He is known as the god of lies, and at one point created a strange artifact known as Spiderwispy that bore his divine knowledge of deceit.
Kogan Glumnessmountains is a related deity to Tath, being a god shown as a dour male dwarf of fine works of metal and crafts in general, but also torture and misery. Fitting that many hold the necessity of occupation as such. It is he who taught the dwarves of metalworking and crafting, and is known to occasionally destow the mighty ability to manipulate the earth, an ability known as Geomancy. As such it is believed those of the Mountainheart School of Magic draw thier arcane spark from him.
Lurit comes next, seen by his people as a male dwarf associated with the mountains and caverns. However, his worshippers may be few and far between. It isnt uncommon however for those who explore the caverns to at least pray to him for prtection in the underdark. Some say that the animate suits of armor seen there are driven by those who sought Lurit's protection: Though they would fall in thier exploration, Lurit would allow them to continue on in the shape of iron, copper, steel, and bronze, and perhaps one day find thier way back to the light of the surface world.
Lim is a god of speech, and as such is the friend of the politician: Mayor, monarch, duke, or governor, it doesn't matter. Prayer has always been shown to him if a speech of critical importance must be made. However he is also known to be a god of hidden anger and vengefulness: In the Sandstone of 94, a dwarf by the name of Kogan Fountainholds is reported to have profaned a temple to Lim. For his transgression, he was cursed to spread the deadly bubonic plague. Kogan would go on to try and redeem himself to Lim as a hero to his people, or die trying, fighting through the rest of the war against the automatons up until one of the last clashes, where he was wounded and forced off the field. It is likely the plague he carried is responsible for as many deaths as the automaton warriors.
And now we come to Uz, The Cover of Shooting. Uz is strangely depicted as both a male and female dwarf (being stated to simply be depicted as a dwarf, rather than male or female,) seemingly depending on the artist and sect of his or her worship. Uz is known as the deity of war, fortresses, and victory. Uz seemed to have only a small following prior to the dwarves' first victory in thier war with the automatons, after which his popularity soared. The people believed that she was the one who spurred the orcs forward, disguised as one of thier gods, and thus allowed the dwarves to claim victory. He is also known to have created an artifact said to hold every facet and secret to the art of war imaginable, even methods of war not yet conceived. Some of a lunatic fringe believe that she may also be an avatar of a mysterious entity known only as Armok.
Aracurade: A vile plague wraith that, well, plagued The Shovel of Hope of and on for 71 years. It went on multiple rampages through thier mountainhalls as well as ocasionally attacking the bandit enterprise known as The Hidden Nation. Many dwarves, desperate to make the attacks stop, began to worship the thing, which many dwarves, even ones too young to have seen the beast, still worship in spite of its death at the hands of Lubbe Leopardnotch the orc in 71. Do note that there is another wraith worshipped by The Shovel of Hope, but Aracurade is a very widely worshipped "god." Perhaps moreso than any other (except possibly our next one.
Lastly, one of, if not the most, commonly revered is the god of rivers, oceans, and lakes: The great Asp Rulush Beachedseals. Little is known as to why this god is so popular amongst The Shovel of Hope, but recent developments have shown it may also be a god of miracles, saving those touched by inspiration or possessed by the unknown from certain death with gifts of the items they require. But seriously, nobody seems to understand why the Snake Cult is otherwise so damned popular.
