Recon works for me. Or Drop Troops, if I get a Valkyrie.
Normally, that wouldn't be allowed, but then again I am the GM.

Exactly!

Plus, Valkyries get to shoot things with the pilot doing the shooting. Most other vehicles, my companion is the one who'd have to be doing the shooting.

Scouting suits me fine but I'd prefer a drop regiment for it. It'd give more variety in missions and gives you the valkyrie.

Actually, I was considering using drop vehicles, among other things, in order to give Operators more use in a drop troops regiment. A Salamander, for example, I wouldn't think too difficult to airdrop with some modification.

Valkyries are a bit of overkill in most occasions because they're basically a mix of gunship and troop transport; if the Operator had to follow us into battle, I'd say they'd have to use a lighter vehicle, with Valkyrie-piloting being reserved towards scenes focused on the whole squad inside the gunship helping during strafing runs or providing defensive fire against attackers from the inside.

Vehicles adapted for Drop regiments... To compensate for the lack of tanks, drop regiments usually have things like Drop Sentinels (smaller sentinels with serious weaponry) or assault vehicles (I think one of them was named Tauros?) dropped along with them.

That makes sense. We can choose the vehicle for the mission.

Gonna need a bunch of different Operating skills, then.

Ah well. That's half the point, ain't it?

You'd get bored always using the same vehicle as well.

So, all in favour of a drop regiment with vehicle support?

Yeah its the Tauros, they're not as heavily armored or armed as Chimera's but they're effective APCs

Our regiment is an extremely prideful drop troop regiment hailing from the former forge world turned death world Hedrus, the regiment is in fact the last regiment raised before the world was suddenly turned into a living hellhole. The planet of Hedrus has had a long tradition of supplying the Imperium with excellent pilots for the Imperial Navy, and Drop Troop Regiments since its induction into the Imperium. The reason for this is the rather unique terrain of the world which is predominantly mountains, cliffs, and canyons that towered above the dry wasteland below where few water sources could be found forcing cities and such to be built either near the few wasteland water sources or higher up in the mountains where the local predators were fewer and accumulator towers could gather moisture from the atmosphere.

Due to the nature of terrain, and the location of cities it became only natural that aircraft became the predominant mode of transportation on the planet leading to the inclusion of basic drop technique training for even the planet's PDF as more often than not they were forced to drop in from the skies above directly onto their target location. In many cases not doing so would but them outside of a city's limits and right into the hands of the planet's predators and their enemies as well making the vast majority of forces trained by the planet either pilots or drop troops out of sheer necessity. The 12th Hedrus Drop Regiment was raised from this planet to be tithed for the ongoing war efforts of the Imperium, the first regiment to be created for nearly a decade they were the pride of this military focused world where almost every citizen would gladly serve the God Emperor in battle.

As the regiment was being readied for launch above their homeworld Ork Roks suddenly appeared in orbit above the planet, all of them instantly making for the surface of the planet to unleash the green tide to a world almost completely unaware of their arrival. The 12th Hedrus Drop Regiment mobilized immediately, unbloodied on the field of battle but dedicated to saving their home from the savage Orks, sadly by the time they reached the planet the green tide was rolling across the planet and the sun in the sky was almost blocked out by dirt and ash and debris thrown up or off of the Roks.

With the Orks already ravaging the planet the regiment's officers decided to begin hit and run attacks deep behind the enemy lines, a tactic the regiment has adopted as its personal warfare strategy, and began hunting down and ambushing unsuspecting Ork convoys. The war was long, and grueling as the regiment fought in a guerrilla war in an attempt to turn the tide, sadly they were far to late in succeeding and by the time the war drew to a close the world was a white, hollow shell of what it once was. The dirt, dust, ash, and such thrown up by the crashing Roks had plunged the world into an ice age and the orks themselves had ravaged much of the planet slaughtering its people whenever they came across them. Despite the pride the regiment bears the horrors of that failure haunt them in many way, and many still mourn the friends lost, the families murdered, and homes that were burnt to cinders.

Looks perfect to me then we just need to requisition the Tauros once we begin.
