Hey Remuthra how rare can we go on regimental weapons?
You can take anything Rare or better.

In that case I suggest the Hot-shot lasgun.

Close range, best punch of any of the las guns and most importantly of all. 7 armor pen for when those pesky chaos marines come calling.

I vote Hot Shot Lasguns.

Grenadier Regiment for extra BS. No Int penalty either. But I like a more pure infantry experience so I think I'll stick with Line.

There are delicious Hades Assault Flamers in Hammer of the Emperor (Basic type, 20m range, S/-/-, 1d10+4 E Damage, 2 Pen, Clip 10, 2 Full Reload - Flame, Spray, Reliable). Availability is Scarce. It'd be a nice close quarters weapon for sure.

2 full turns to reload and low ammo, lower range and lower pen though.

No need to aim, though. Spray hits everything in front of you without need to succeed in a BS test, including enemies in cover. AND it sets them on fire.

What about everything past 20 meters? Every single guns has superior range to that and I can't cover you from everything.
Or in urban environments? Where using that is gonna set the town on fire if the enemy is smart enough to hide inside buildings.

Flamers are a bit more of a 1-2 in the squad not a standard regimental weapon.

Flamers, shotguns.. None of them are very good regimental weapons. We should take Triplex or Hot Shots.

We kiiind of happen to be a close quarters combat regiment guys.
If we need to be constantly engaging in long-range combat, we're doing it wrong.

Hey, people. Peeeople.

First thing: Death World or Penitent World? DW offers the option of a Str bonus and taking Lightning Reflexes, while Penitent is still a solid choice in most part due to the talents offered.

Second: Line or Siege? Line is pretty good with the Str bonus, Athletics (!) as the free skill and the always nice Rapid Reload on top of krak grenades. Siege offers us Toughness, an entrenching tool and the stellar Nerves of Steel, though Tech-Use isn't too adequate for our group. And Siege Regiments can be aggressive, yes. Trench-fighting was one of the reasons melee was recalled and one of the reasons combat knives were developed.

Third: 10 points remaining. We could do a lot of stuff with that, including but not limited to adding ASSAULT FLAMER FOR ERRYONE (Reliable too) or combat shotguns or red-dot sights for our M36 lasguns or grenade launchers, automatic or not or whatever.

Fourth: favored weapons. I advise people to go crazy on those since you can take melta/plasma guns as favored basic weapon.

Penitent World
Siege Infantry
And I'd say make some kinda flamer standard kit.

1, Deathworld.
2, Line.
3, Not bothered at all. You guys decide and I'll figure out if it's useful for me or not.
4, Basic weapon I suggest the Hot-Shot Lasgun for it's penetration and power as well as having moderate range. The less time your exposed to enemy fire without being able to fire back the better. But worst comes to worst I'll just use the standard M36 is my secondary.
As for Basic heavy I'll leave that up to whoever makes a heavy gunner.

I'm also putting this here: regiment types and packages in OW work more as outlines. Guerrilla regiment would actually be a bad choice since the current regiment tends more towards the violent assault/shock trooper who goes shank people, even in the dark if necessary thanks to our photo-visors/contacts.

Wanna be more sneaky than that? We can add Stummers (+30 Stealth for 20 minutes of battery) to the standard kit and that'll be a better deal than getting Guerrilla.

Penitent and Line Infantry. For the kit, the flamer, combat shotgun or maybe some attachment to our M36s - auxiliary grenade launcher or something?
