Generally speaking, that would be the choice between offensive and defensive play.

Couldn't siege just as easily be siege assault as siege defense? We're tunnelers that'd be perfect for assaulting positions through sapping or undermining. Or coming up in the middle of the enemy base.

I don't think our badass Aztecas should settle for anything other than full combat. Really the decision between Siege and Line is = entrenched force or assaulting an enemy on open ground.

Being jungle survivalists don't you think a guerrilla regiment would make a heck of a lot more sense??

We're more fearless assault/shock troops than sneaky guerillas. I think the line regiment works fine, it's flexible. It's not 'assaulting the enemy on open ground', our doctrines make sure of that.

We do have to figure out the characteristic bonus from Penitent. My vote goes for Toughness, because I/you can never have enough Toughness. Also, the favoured weapons - no suggestions from anyone yet?

It's 2 bonuses. But isn't that individual to each character? All 3 come from the regiment but you can only choose 2. I need to take strength from the planet and from the line regiment that bumps me up into the next weight category.

Hmm I'm running into an issue. My current carry weight is 27.
Full Light Carapace weighs 15, sniper rifle weighs 5, Photo-Sight weighs 0.5, Chameleoline cloak is 0.5. That's 21 out of 27 gone and that's before I include ammo and the standard kit. If I get the 6 strength from planet and regiment it bumps me up to 36.

I can see that. +1 to Line.

I'm down for toughness. My vote is for Carbines. Only 75m range, but they're quite light and have halved reload times.
