Does your fortress have large amounts of copper or silver? Because, if so, I'd recommend simply drafting everyone into a permanently inactive squad with a crossbow or warhammer each, so that when threats like this arise, the nearest civilian can just turn around and go *boop* you're dead. Again.

Plenty of copper, but I've had other priorities.

Hahaha yes, and those priorities are what makes this fort epic. But I was just mentioning it because now that you're finished the pump stack, you've got a lot of forges and smelters just sitting there. Can't wait to see what happens when the weapon is extended to pour out of all sides of the volcano.

((Psst: Link to the chapter when you say it's out. I gotta traverse an extra page load and that's terrible.))

I keep the OP updated with all the chapters. If you consider a single page load on a forum to be "terrible," then I can't fathom what you'll think about loading twenty-four .gif-heavy imgur albums.

Thanks!

Chapter 25 has been posted! I've changed the viewing format of this chapter, as a sort of experiment. If you have an opinion, let me know what you think - I did it mostly because a few people have commented on having problems viewing the albums, since they are so large. This one ought to load only one at a time, but it may not make any difference. Let me know!

I like this format, it helps flow a bit as well.

Isn't he just a recruit though? It can't be much more dangerous if a woodcutter went berserk then. Sure, he's got some copper armor, but IIRC the military has adamantine short swords.

That being said, there's probably going to be at least some injuries and bloodshed if the military doesn't get there quickly.

Most of the military is just in copper, actually. There are only one or two adamantine weapons floating around.

And good! I think this format works better, as well.

I just hope that you never have a Loyalty Cascade- it would spell doom on a reanimating biome.

Manager>copper crossbow>30*7
Manager>copper bolts>30*7
Manager>leather quiver>30*7
Military>new uniform>crossbow over clothing+250 bolts per squad>DRAFT EVERYONE

The corpse of Urist McShambling has risen and is - *thwang*
The corpse of - *thwang*
The corpse - *bash*
The - *bash*

Ad infinitum, until haulers arrive. :)
It's a major project but very worthwhile. Although, come to think of it, 200 tanned and un-reanimated hides may be hard to come by in Roomcarnage :P
