Well, there's a reason why commonly used metals are commonly used.
Because they're common on Earth, easy to obtain on Earth, and relativelyeasy to work...on Earth.

The problem is, when you utilize a metal whose melting temperature is only a few 100 degrees above you skin temperature, the strength and such will be heavily diminished while wielding it.

I think the solution would be to somehow include magic into the setting. Or something. I dunno.

I'm preferring this to be more explained through science than magic, though sci-fi handwaves are allowed for the most part if they're handwaved properly.

So thoughts on hyperspace?

Different alloys of metal can be made on their planet more easily. They use different metals for different things; the soft metals(aka the ones that melt relatively easily) would be used for different things than, say, tungsten.

I think the Alcubierre drive would work best.

I woud try to avoid magic. Because really, the current rules are :

1. You can do what is realistic.

Implement magic and you loose all that.

You realize every race can have their own method of hyperspace travel, right? From psychic manipulation to probability drives to wormhole generators?

Yeah, just saying the most realistic would be an Alcubierre drive.

Also because it apparently got buried:

Skalkr and the Hive can be on the same planet, the Skalkr in the desert part, the Hive in the jungle part. Koharu could be on the arctic of any planet that has one. Destrechen could be on one of the moons of the gas giant to make them a bit closer.[/size]Perhaps the Flock and Koharu on the same planet, Skalkr and the Hive on the same planet, Destrechen and Bloons adjacent?

Any objections?

Depends. I might be making one last adjustment to their home, but it's just a different kind of mineral resource or two.

Damn, that better be a big ass moon. Just sayin'. But alright.

Also, not sure what an Alcubierre drive is or why it's the most realistic.

War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.
