From the Depths now on steam and with multiplayer
« on: June 11, 2014, 10:49:32 pm »

From the Depths is a unique game featuring the ability to create custom boats, submarines, helicopters, missiles, cannons, and planes. Currently it is in pre-alpha and costs ten USD. you can find more information in this video or their website.

It looks awesome, although I'm kinda worried it'll just turn into a bit of a spam fest. Does it/will it have things like points assigned to parts (so you could have a 1000 point game or something) or a requirement to actually make boats seaworthy and flyers airworthy?

With enough work and polish, it could have been a forgettable flash game on Kongregate.

From what I've heard multiplayer is supposed to be soon.

In the normal mode you need to gather resources to build and there are requirements to make boats seaworthy and flyers airworthy(although you can get around most of them by using hot air balloons, however they can only take one hit before detaching).

Reminds me of stratosphere (a pretty old game) mixed with robocraft.

My god, how is this not the most active thread on these forums? This game is everything B12ers live and die for! Creating your own destructible boats and aircraft like Space Engineers but much more interesting and dynamic. The programmable AI to man your vehicles and weapon stations is amazing and the multiplayer is just gobs of fun. I can sit an watch this game play itself for hours. I predict 24 hr Twitch channels streaming this game crashes the economy of a sovereign nation, lol, ok too far. Seriously though, where is everybody!?!!!

I think in general people have become wary of new projects that promise a lot... most tend not to deliver, and we are becoming cynical. I know this has definitely been the case for me and this project. I've eyed it a few times but never taken the plunge to know more because I feel like it's destined to fail due to overambition.

But if it's got the hemmingjay seal of approval...

This looks so awesome. I can't wait to try this game out once I've replaced my old laptop with something that can handle more than a potato!

Was skeptical at first, but having watched some videos of gameplay it seems like it is the greatest thing ever.

I have played this for awhile and I can say, except for a few things, I like it a lot more than SE.  Just the fact alone the game supports automated construction and repair/replacement means you can focus on the fun part, combat.

Also the whole you build the engine and the guns part is just really cool.
