"We're not even in court! This is the detention center!"
The guard looks over at you.
"You guys have been here for, like, a couple days. Visiting hours are over."
Then he takes Harkinian back to his cell.

The police are at the scene all day, and you are unable to investigate. They also have all the witnesses in questioning. You're forced to wait for the trial.

Courtroom Lobby: Prelude to the Future

"I wonder what'll happen out there..."

"I just wonder what the prosecutor's up to!"
Dampe gets a call on his cell phone at that moment.

"Hey, just figured you should know; I heard a leak from the D.A.'s office, and apparently they've put Prosecutor Blackquill on the case. He's got a pretty hardcore fail-streak, but he's also a pretty hardcore prosecutor. Don't let him catch you off-guard."

"And sorry for the delay with my associate; she's kind of... in a bind right now. She should catch up to you at some point during the trial. Anyway, best of luck!"

All rise, court is now in session!

Judge's Opening Statement

"...Fine."

"The defendant decided that the punishment afforded the victim was too lenient, and killed him in cold blood. While the victim was stabbed, the defendant cut his hand on the blade, having been trained in the way of the sword... poorly. Then today's witness stumbled across the body, with King Harkinian knelt over it, his hands bloody."
Autopsy Report added to the Court Record.
Ordon Sword added to the Court Record.
"Is this case not clear to you? It's clear to me."

"please do so"

((will the judge recognize evidence of the magatama, or will he consider the locks as inconsequential without evidence to prove the locks are about the crime))
The magatama tells you if somebody is hiding something. You use it to find the secrets they're hiding during investigations, which you're not in anymore. It's not evidence.

((so we got something useless?))

I find the case quite unclear, thought you explanation is one possible event, there are other possible explanations.

consider for a moment, the position of nobility. this comes with many perils. including the risk of someone attempting to sow political chaos, and dissent. your statement actually helps this case.

if the king is so sloppy with the blade, not only would killing the duke be harder for him than it would a skilled swordsman, but it is possible that an assailant attacked the duke  and the king cut himself trying to remove the dagger!

((are those images broken for anyone else))
((there, is there a img tag argument the lets you flip the images?))

Yes, they are broken. Open them in new tabs, then copy the URLs.

"We already considered that angle. As our witness will testify, however, nobody entered or exited the room during the murder."

"Additionally, the Duke was unarmed and unprepared to fight. The wound was messy and clearly made by an amateur, someone who had never used a sword in their lives. The king had never touched one until now."

"ahhhh but your forgetting one thing, magic, I cannot recall any hyrule that does not contain magic, we cannot rule out the possibility of teleportation magic. or perhaps the killer made him or herself transparent before the room was even entered, and did not leave until after everyone left the room. possession of the king is also a possibility.

once magic enters play things that would be impossible to pull off are suddenly open."

"Fool. You think we had not considered that? The only item in CD-i Hyrule that allows somebody to go unnoticed--there is no teleportation in CD-i Hyrule--is a magical cape secured in Princess Zelda's possession."

"We looked into that, as well. The maker suffered from a rare condition that caused her eye color to change constantly. It killed her at some point in the past twenty years."

"Can we just move to the cross-examination already? We've looked that theory over several hundred times and found no way for it to be possible."
