Hmm, I never had speed problems with my Ampharos when I still had Silver on my Gameboy(when I still had a Gameboy, I think I have the Silver cartridge somewhere along with two Yellows). I always thought that Electric-types where generally faster.

To be fair, Electric-types have an average speed of 81.27, compared to the overall average of 66. Similarly, fully-evolved Electrics have an average speed of 90.85, compared to 78 for all types. So Electrics are faster than average, overall.

My next destination is Skadar City, located somewhere beyond the underwater caves beyond Maggiore City. ...Which makes absolutely no sense, seeing as right under Maggiore City is a lava pit. Then again, maybe not, since I read a novel called Frost of Heaven which had an ice cavern that opens into an active(maybe. There was lava there) volcano, though I doubt the author majored in geology.



I had to scale a fairly high cliff to enter this place, and there's a full lake at the top of it.

Good thing I took out Seaking when I went for the Regis. She's still in the party.



I'd ask how I'm going to breathe in this large underwater cavern, but that would be one of the more stupid questions I've asked, and I've asked some doozies.



Trainers underwater? I did not see that one coming.

He sent out Gyrados, Claydol(underwater?), and Purugly(a cat underwater?). All level 95, all utterly destroyed.


Other trainers follow suit, with level 95-96 Pokémon that 2/3rds of which seem out of place in an underwater environment.

As for the wild Pokémon...



I gotta say, it looks like a vagina.

It seems as though Cloyster is the only new Pokémon in this area, only seeing Lanturn and Carracosta so far.

Victreebel and Heliolisk are on a warpath here, and they need the levels for Morgan. Unfortunately, some of the trainers here are also throwing around OHKO moves. And the sheer number of trainers is taxing their PP at the least.



After a long gauntlet of swimmers riding Dewgong(only one Dewgong was used in battle), I surface at the Circle of Power. The place where Artemis threatened to kill me if I interfered with her attempt to cure cancer.

Doesn't Sharpedo have Rough Skin? God damn, your genitals must be sore!

His first was Gyrados, who was fried by Heliolisk. Then Seaking came out and hit her with Horn Drill. That's twice she's been hit with a OHKO this trip. Victreebel took vengance for her, and also took down the Grunt's Golduck. All were Lv. 97. Forget Morgan, I'm sure Artemis has a team of 100s.

I'm gonna guess... Lugia? My random guesses have been pretty good so far. This is the environment for it.

Oh, he had Sharpedo, Octillery, and Zangoose. Nothing difficult, though Zangoose did take down Lucario with Close Combat. Chandelure dealt with him instead.

I guess I'm fighting Apollo here, instead of Artemis. Or Zeus. I hope it's Zeus. Give Divaevus a nice kick in the ass again.

And just when I thought there wasn't any wild encounters on the water:



I wonder what makes it a Ghost-type? It doesn't look dead, and it's body mass it too much for it to simply have physical characteristics similar to a ghost and therefore Ghost-type.

Thankfully, Artemis brought in medical help, that I freely use. And it looks like she's squaring off with Jake. I was wondering what that idiot was up to.

I wonder if she's trying to sacrifice him to summon whatever Pokémon she's after. Normally, I'd be against that... but come on, it's Jake.

Victreebel used its recharge turn to Spore it and then I used that time to drop as many Max Revives I can.

When it woke up, it used Hyper Beam, so I used that recharge turn to attempt Stun Spore instead. It missed. I used a Full Restore to max out his HP in case it tried another Hyper Beam or Dark Matter.

It used Dark Matter, and Stun Spore missed again. Repeated the previous strategy again. Finally, it got paralyzed.

It was stopped one turn, and the next it missed with Dark Epitaph. The third turn...



Another god falls before my (Leaf) blade.

Funnily enough, Excadrill and Heliolisk gained EXP, I guess it's not just fainting that removes their EXP gain for that opponent.




I don't give two damns about your swag! You just killed a person and damned another, all because of what? Some kind of inadequacy issue?! See a goddamned psychiatrist you sack of crap.

Okay guys, team chat. And for those of you I'll eventually cycle back into the box, pass it around.

Things are going to hell by the minute. At first, we were only dealing with Divaevus controlled by Zeus, a violent psychotic bent on ruling the world. And now here's Maladeux, controlled by Jake, who killed someone either because he's evil, for the lulz, or because he's an idiot. And I don't know what is worst. Both Divaevus and Maladeux are supposedly pieces of Arceus Himself. We've beaten both before, but the last time was a very narrow thing.

At this point, I don't even know if we can win this, much less how. Zeus is trying to give Divaevus infinite power, and Jake... Jake is a threat to humanity just by himself whatever his plans.

But... but we can't stop now. We've come this far already. We can't go back. We might just doom the world ourselves, but the only thing I can see us doing is riding this bomb all the way to the ground.

For now, we should do what we've always done, and that's to focus on the thing in front of us. It hasn't gotten us killed yet, so why not do that? And that is the road to Skadar City, where Morgan waits. Because let's face it, in our hearts, we know that we aren't going to find the 5th Sigil Hall without beating the first four. It just wouldn't make sense otherwise.

So, let's keep fighting to the end. The next Hall is Morgan's, a Water-type Gym, so Victreebel and Heliolisk, this one's you two full stop. Let's do this!


I suck at doing speeches.



Since there was a Nurse Joy at the Circle of Power, that was probably around the halfway point to Skadar City. I still have to go through the underwater tunnels of Route 324 to reach it.

And of course, new route means new Pokémon.



At least I know where Team Olympus got those Sharpedoes they were riding.



So basically, it's the Rape and Rescue Pokémon.

The trainers here, all Swimmers riding Dewgongs, are pushing ever closer to the Lv.100 mark. One came close with a Lv.99 Drifblim.

The path of the place is simple, and leads me to suspect laziness in its design. Eventually, I make it to the last trainer.


"Hah! As if you could beat me!"

After a team consisting of Cacturne(facepunched by Lucario), Octillery(zapped by Heliolisk), and Xatu(FRIED BIRD)...




Not one hit, eh Jonny?



I exit through a tunnel and reach Skadar City.



The place is frickin' underwater. How do these people live here? No wait, silly question, sorry.

Luckily, the Pokémon Center is above water, so I can fly here.

The town itself isn't much to look at. Once you get past the novelty of a sunken city(fun fact, Caspian City is halfway there!), the landscape(waterscape?) is barren and featureless. There's also nothing of any real value in the homes. Time to check out the Sigil Hall.



Same deal as before: Two trainers, an annoying-yet-murderable Fanboy, then Morgan. The first trainer opens up with a Lv.100 team. The second one...



Is that even possible? And yes, I promptly got Heliolisk the hell out of there and took it down with Victreebel. Heliolisk took down the next one, Lv.101 Gyrados(fried sea dragon?). The last was Ludicolo, who is a bit awkward to deal with since its Grass-type nullifies the weaknesses to both Grass and Electric.

After dealing with the shock of seeing the level limit surpassed, there's one more opponent before Morgan.


"Claire!"



I'm sure their dreams involved something sexual. And I would hazard a guess that so do you, although in this case it's fairly reasonable. Morgan is kinda hot.




No, that is not actually the case. In order to challenge the Sigil Halls, you must first collect the eight Gym Badges, then challenge the Quasar League. Seriously, I had to do that and I'm not going to let anyone skirt around the rules I had to follow.

Quite frankly, I don't care. After what you guys did to Artemis, I have no sympathy for you freaks.



Oh, for crap's sake, could the devs have at least pallete-swapped Stewart for this?

His team is actually Ice-type. He started with a Beartic that tried to Sheer Cold Heliolisk, it failed and was struck by lightning.

Next was a Glalie who pulled a successful Sheer Cold on Chandelure(to be fair, it was a 61% success chance). Lucario finished him off.

Third was Lapras who was Spored and Leaf Bladed by Victreebel.

Fourth was Cloyster who had the same thing.

Last was Abomasnow. Lucario beat it up.



And all I wanted to do was punch you in the face! BUT YOU DON'T HAVE ONE! YOU HAVE NO FACE, YOU HAVE NOTHING!




You would have lost just the same.

Honestly, I think I'm better prepared here than for the Quasar League.

For starters, I send out Victreebel instead. Barely survived an Earthquake boosted by a Life Orb, but that was enough.





Unless she's packing a Ludicolo(possible), it's only a matter of switching to the right counter.

In this case, though, she had a Focus Sash, surviving the hit and slamming Heliolisk with Waterfall.

Morgan used a Full Restore, but that was pointless.





Hmm, she didn't have this one last time.



Last time, Crawdaunt was her Mega.



The foe Blastoise has gained more dakka!



I tried to heal with Parabolic Charge, but it returned with Aura Sphere.

Sent out Victreebel to Spore it, then used a Hyper Potion. Morgan used a Full Restore to remove Sleep. Honestly, I think that was a waste, since I Spored her again.



At this point, there shouldn't be anything Victreebel can't handle.



Well, except that if it uses Psychic.



Which it did. >_<

Next attempt was to try Chandelure to take advantage of Psychic's weakness to Ghost. That went as well as one would think.



Next up was Lucario to buy some time to Max Revive Heliolisk.

That too went as well as you would think.



Next was Heliolisk to finally fry the damn star.





Well. this is interesting. Kingdra nullifies weakness to Grass and Electric, and really, its only weaknesses are Dragon and Fairy.

After one turn, Kingdra lost half his health from Thunderbolt and his Life Orb, and lost some Sp. Attack from using Draco Meteor. Unfortunately, Heliolisk is at 5HP. The next turn resulted in...




Mutual kill.



And I'm down to two Max Revives. Victreebel is probably getting one, Heliolisk is getting a normal Revive.

Empoleon created a Substitute during the turn I revived Heliolisk, then Ice Beamed Seaking when I revived Victreebel. I tried to take down the Substitute with Seaking but failed.



Despite the risk of an Ice Beam, I send out Victreebel.



Apparently, the Substitute also blocked Spore. I was able to destroy the Substitute, but not do any further damage.

Heliolisk comes out to finish this up.



Nobody listens. It's easy: FRIED BIRD. Is that so hard to understand?

I aquire the Champions Sigil.







Varlox Cave? That's right north of Zarivar Town! I even tried to go there once, but there wasn't anything really there so I left.



No, nobody knew that! Tobias said it didn't exist, Corlett didn't know. If it's common knowledge, then Zeus is probably already there!

Just one more Sigil Hall to go now. And Dad should be able to tell me how to get into the 5th Sigial Hall that's located nowhere near the Vesryn Spear at all.

Before I go to Mount Nova, I make a few team changes. First, I swap out Chandelure and Seaking, and replace them with Cresselia and Delta Machamp.

Next, it's back to Treader Town to visit the Move Relearner to replace D. Machamp's Screech with Draining Kiss. His other moves, Moonlight, Dynamic Punch, and Play Rough are fine. D. Machamp has No Guard, so I'm not worried about the accuracy of Dynamic Punch and Play Rough.

Then I pop over to Blackfist's Department Store to pick up an Expert Belt for him. Huh, I had one already. Oh well. They're only Ł200 each.




I finally go back to Skadar City and exit onto Route 325.

And of course, that means new Pokémon.

Wigglytuff was level 84. The previous area had Pokémon in the 65-ish range. That's a heck of a jump. D. Machamp and Cresselia are level 76, so at the least, they have wild encounters to train up on. The first trainer encountered had a Lv.102 team.



I wonder if Jeremy isn't from Constance City then?



I missed this one in the Blackfist Safari Zone before. Annoying thing tried to Sheer Cold D. Machamp. Confirmed: No Guard does not affect OHKOs.

Continuing up the mountain path for now.

Since Artemis is dead, it's probably Athena. Great.



First out was Staraptor. Foolishly tried to Close Combat D. Machamp. She was too tough for D. Machamp, so I switched to Cresselia while she was confused. Cresselia got taken out with a couple of Brave Birds, so I simply swept his team, which inlcuded Fearow, Farfetch'd, and Mantine(that's not a bird!), with Heliolisk.



I wouldn't be here if I wasn't already going in that direction.



Already have, jackass. A long time ago. Besides, I am a member of the Hikers' Guild-Club.



First was Kabutops, who fell to Lucario. Relicanth fell to Victreebel. Lunatone exploded against Lucario for pathetic damage. And Crustle was Earthquaked by Excadrill.

...Mount Nova isn't a nuclear weapons stockpile, is it? I've dealt with pretty much everything else with end-of-the-world capabilities, from legendary Pokémon to resurrected gods. What else could she possibly use?



This has got to be the fourth volcano I've encountered so far. First there was Mt. Press, the other Route 325 between Huron and Yangtze, the Lava Sinkhole under Maggiore, and now this. And for a second there I had wondered if there was a lack of Fire-type environments. Speaking of...



I'm pretty sure evolution doesn't work like that.



Just that time of the decade, I'm sure.

Well, it's in the right area, at least.



There's no specific ability required to cross this, unless this is what Morgan was talking about needing the Champions Sigil for. I just have to skip across these glowing red-hot sharp jagged rocks sticking out of the lava flow, nothing to worry about.



See? My feet are most certainly not covered in 4th degree burns or anything!

Let's carry on.



I wonder what Athena is planning, though. What exactly can she do? Her plot to create a Wonder Guard Sableye failed. It's not like there's any more god-pieces to resurrect(dear Arceus, I hope), and even if there were... well, that really worked out for Artemis, didn't it?



After clearing a line of other Hikers, I meet this guy. I'm gonna guess... Agassiz?



Wow, not even close.

He opened with Lucario. D. Machamp took him down, but took massive damage in the process, even after a Hyper Potion, mostly due to ExtremeSpeed. Cresselia tried to learn Lunar Dance, which has the exact same effect as Healing Wish(user suicides to heal their replacement). It's mostly useless so I don't take it.

Second was Hippowdon. Cresselia and Victreebel both had a part in taking it down, but both were hurt in the process.

Next was Donphan. It took down Victreebel after being reduced to 5% HP. Cresselia finished it off.

Last was Claydol. It took out Cresselia with Explosion, costing its trainer the battle in the process.



And what does that make you then?

On the way back from healing after that battle, I catch this...



Man, that thing's appearance can give you nightmares.



A defeated Hiker lets this one slip. It might be a Delta. Then again, they were talking about a rare Pokémon in conjunction with the Circle of Power before, and that turned out to be Maladeux, so maybe there is another god-piece. The next Hiker says this:



"Heatroar"? The closest thing I can think of is Entei, and Mom owns that one. If there's another one like that, then Athena's plan must be using it to detonate the volcano.



Finally making back outside at nighttime. Hopefully closing on the summit soon.



After climbing several vertical cliffs using Rock Climb, I come back inside to a maze of ledges. I really hope this is close to the summit.

The wild Pokémon here reach the level 90 mark, but so far only one of them is new.



Yet the Pokédex fails to explain the fate of those Geodude, either the "slapstick comedy" type or "horrible gory tragedy" type.

On the way up the ledges, I find a Scuba Gear. The description reads "Who needs a Pokémon? Replacement for HM Dive." Welp, looks like Seaking is forever boxed.

Before I know it, I close in on the summit.



Good work! With those bridge-building skills, you guys could probably be professional carpenters after all this.

Noctowl took far less damage than I would have liked from Ice Beam, and he responded with Whirlwind, bringing out... Heliolisk. Nobody has yet figured it out. Two! Two simple words! FRIED BIRD!!





I know the level difference is hurting.



But I still kicked that cat's ass.



Yeah, Heracross is one of those I don't really have a solution for right now. I could use Cresselia, but then she'd be hit with Megahorn.



Of course, Close Combat hurts a Steel-type just as bad.



And Normal-types. At least now Cresselia can do this.

A Delta? Didn't expect that. Judging from it's color, it might be a Grass-type? I can't tell.

An Ice Beam shows it's not Grass, Ground, or Dragon, at least. A Psychic hurt it, so I would suppose that it's a Poison-type. Not a Fighting-type or else Ice Beam would have been ineffective(was neutral damage).



Team Sparkle is starting to lose their sparkle a bit.



I think I very much do know what I'm messing with.

First turn, I healed D. Machamp with Moonlight. A single Play Rough brought Medicham down to ~2% HP. This was followed up with Draining Kiss for the finish. All three turns, Medicham used Accupressure like an idiot.

I don't have to worry about getting Eevee now, since I can breed the whole set from this one.

Given that my team is in dire need of a Pokémon Center, I use a Max Repel so that the wild encounters are less of a problem. There are other trainers, still, so that's going to be hard, but I must pull through.

After about the fourth trainer, I notice my supply of Fresh Water has almost run out. I left Skadar with a stock of 99. At this point, I'm down to 6.



Near about the highest point on the mountain, I see this.
