It took a while(although admittedly less time than I thought it would), but I feel my team is ready to face the Elite Four.
Right now, my team is as follows:
Klefki Lv.72 - Moves: Draining Kiss, Mirror Shot, Play Rough, Magic Room. Holding a Wide Lens because the accuracy of Mirror Shot and Play Rough are terrible. I intend to use him against Tobias and Wilson, as Fairy and Steel have strong advantage here, particularly with Fairy's immunity to Dragon. I may also use Magic Room against Corlett to nullify those Air Balloons.
Excadrill Lv.72 - Moves: Rock Smash, Strength, Rock Slide, Earthquake. Holding a Soft Sand to maximize Earthquake damage. Intended to be used primarily against Corlett, though the wide range of move types could fit in elsewhere, for example Rock Smash against Tobias' Dark-types.
Garchomp Lv.71 - Moves: Flamethrower, Dragon Rush, Dig, Dragon Claw. Holding a Dragon Fang to maximize Dragon Rush and Claw. Meant mostly for Corlett and Wilson.
Victreebel Lv.74 - Moves: Solar Beam, Spore, Leaf Blade, Stun Spore. Holding Miracle Seed to maximize damage from Leaf Blade in particular. Intended for Morgan, but Spore can be useful pretty much anywhere, helped by Victreebel's relatively high Speed(for a plant, anyway).
Lucario Lv.71 - Moves: Heal Pulse, Aura Sphere, Force Palm, Counter. Holding Black Belt. Mostly to use on Tobias. Only Wilson is likely to have any type-effective moves against Lucario, so he can probably fit in the line somewhere in other battles.
Heliolisk Lv.71 - Moves: Thunderbolt, Charge, Bulldoze, Parabolic Charge. Holding Expert Belt, since if I'm going to hit for massive damage, I may as well hit for massive damage. Mostly for Morgan. Bulldoze is weak, but should trip up Corlett's Pokémon as well. Wilson might have a Flying/Dragon-type, so that might help(although the Expert Belt is useless in this case).
While going over my preparations, I look at the other challengers.
"I deserve as much respect as you do!"Indeed she does.
"Me too! I hope you're prepared! I've battled them a couple times before, but I can't even get past Tobias!"That confirms Tobias is first, although I'm already pretty sure it's Tobias, Corlett, Morgan, then Wilson.
I make sure I have all the medical supplies I need. Even if I don't use them in battle, I'm definitely going to have to heal between fights. I've got a few dozen Hyper Potions, tons of Fresh Water, plus Revives and Ethers. The last one was only sold in Blackfist's Department Store, but I'm going to need them; PPs are going to drop fast.
Everything's squared away, so it's time to fight.
"It's an official rule of the Quasar League!"Oh? Okay... I've been using Shift this entire time, but I can probably deal with this.
NOW it's time to fight.
"I'm obliged to formally introduce myself, though I believe we are already acquainted with each other.""Graham, and the Dark-type user of the Elite Four."Yes... I still haven't thanked you for saving me there. If you hadn't, Zeus probably would have blown my brains out right then and there.
Is he sending his best out first? That doesn't seem right...
At least I don't have to worry about Dark Epitaph.
He used Nasty Plot, while Klefki gave it a little kiss...
If that really was Hydreigon, that Draining Kiss would have taken it out in one hit. Although this does illustrate some of the bugs with Illusion, as it still had Zoroark's cry when it came out as Hydreigon.
Before going to down to Play Rough, he used an Embargo on me. I'm a little surprised that Tobias didn't use a Full Restore, though.
I didn't expect this one. It created a sandstorm coming out, but my anti-Dark Pokémon are all Steel-types.
I change over to Lucario, who gets slammed with an Earthquake coming in. Ouch, although it probably would have taken out Klefki.
And Tyranitar is actually faster than Lucario, and hits him with a critical Earthquake. Overkill.
Risking damage from the sandstorm, I send out Victreebel. Yes, yes, I know. All my strategies fall apart within the first three turns.
First is Spore. Victreebel is faster than Tyranitar, but Lucario isnt?
A critical Leaf Blade and Tyranitar is dealt with. The sandstorm will be more a problem for Tobias than for me for the rest of the battle.
I don't know why, but I've always hated this bird.
Spore was blocked by her Insomnia ability, then she used Brave Bird.
Time to send someone who has an advantage in this storm.
What happens to a Honchkrow when it gets struck by lightning?
The same thing that happens to everything else(that's not a Ground-type).
I'm sure this is the real Hydreigon. However, I can't risk losing Klefki while switching, so I gotta soften it up with Heliolisk. Sorry, Heliolisk.
It started off with Outrage, which Heliolisk survived. The advantage here is that Outrage is Dragon-type, so Klefki comes out.
Come here, dragon. He just wants to give you a little kiss...
Fire Blast? Well, crap.
Might as well test this before using it on Wilson. Dragon Claw!
It works.
I think Victreebel is the only one on the team actually vulnerable to sandstorm damage. Huh.
Oh hell...
And I thought Absol was pretty badass-looking before.
Either Tobias is going to use a Full Restore, switch out, or Absol is going down in one turn. I use the turn to revive Klefki, just in case.
I was right about that Full Restore. Strange that he didn't use it before.
After another Dig, Tobias used another one. Well, at least I'm still capable of trading blows with Mega-Absol, so it's good he's wasting them now, instead of on what's next.
A single Dragon Claw brought him low enough for the sandstorm to finish him. I probably could have done that earlier, but at least I used up Tobias' Full Restores.
Ah, Misdreavus. The one Klefki and Lucario are actually worthless against. Still, I shouldn't have too much trouble bringing it down.
Like Absol, a single Dragon Claw, then pushed over by the sandstorm.
Once or twice, but I may as well hear it from you.
"Spear. Inside the cities of this region lies four buildings known as the Sigil Halls. Think of them... as a sort of Gym for the Elite Four. Only those who have beaten the Elite Four themselves are permitted to battle there. I think you can make it though. I expect you to be at mine in due time. Best of luck in the future!"All right! That's the first one. Overall, that went better than expected. Granted, the two I meant to use against Tobias went down, but the rest of the team brought up the slack. Next up is...
"Elite Four! Remember me?""Shedinja."Yes. You and Tobias' brother helped me escape from there after Athena kidnapped me.
"And now you're here, taking on the Elite Four. Just because you beat Zeus doesn't mean I'm going to go easy on you!"Is that an obvious typo I see?
This isn't going to work.
She used Hydro Pump. All she did was water Victreebel.
But then, Victreebel is a carnivorous plant, and prefers blood over water.
Now that's a fast-looking bug.
Before I could Spore him, he used Ice Beam. I didn't think that Galvantula could learn that.
Let's see how Lucario does.
Unfortunately, not very well. Bug is resistant to Fighting. The next turn, though, Lucario paralyzed it with Force Palm, allowing for a follow-up.
I'm surprised Corlett didn't use a Full Restore there.
Ooh, that's the one that knows the OHKO move, right?
Shoulda seen that coming.
He took Lucario out with a Focus Blast, but Lucario hit first. Ampharos also aquired Mold Breaker upon transforming, although I don't see how that will affect me.
Nerve Cutter can't affect Excadrill, and he's not holding an Air Ballon, so Earthquake ought to deal with this.
That's Corlett's best Pokémon defeated.
That's one I've never been able to get a handle on. I know it's Electric-type, but what else?
Unfortunately, it has Levitate, so Earthquake isn't going to work. It also used Ice Beam, but not for massive damage.
Rock Slide is still good. I'm lucky Excadrill didn't freeze from that Ice Beam.
I'm going to assume that it has Levitate rather than Sturdy. I also use a Hyper Potion on Excadrill, since Magnezone used Gyro Ball for little damage.
Turns out, it was Sturdy and not Levitate. A Rock Smash in the first turn removed Sturdy as a factor, though.
I'm gonna shave that mohawk.
Electivire doesn't seem to be a threat. It used Giga Impact for poor damage, meaning it's also lost a turn. I also hit it with Rock Smash to remove any chance of an Air Balloon(there wasn't any indication).
And they said I couldn't Ground-sweep.
Two down.
"retired many years ago. The former champion being your mother, of course."Assuming, of course, she doesn't decide to come out of retirement for a chance to crown her son the new Champion.
"Four. Best of luck, anyways! I hope to see you at my Sigil Hall if all goes well!"That fight went better than Tobias. Next up is Morgan.
"based off what I know of your battle style."My battle style is "hit for Massive Damage", although that doesn't always work...
"Against Team Olympus?"Yeah, you stopped Apollo and Artemis from catching Divaevus.
...I think Apollo and Artemis are dead now. Which sucks because Artemis was kinda cute.
"And now, we fight each other as rivals.""Don't expect a pushover from me!"I'm not. Your two predecessors made sure I knew that.
I thought she simply had blue hair, not a blue hood. It's a video game based off an anime, blue hair is normal.
I also figured she would be dressed a little more modestly than that. It's not stripperiffic by any stretch of imagination, but those legs, damn.
Come to think of it, that outfit makes absolutely no sense. A massive hood to cover her head, what appear to be either sleeves that are about two feet too long or prostestic arms designed with lacrosse scoops, but the rest of her outfit is designed to show off her figure. It also looks like her head and shoulders are shifted away from the rest of her body.
Hmm, I should have sent Heliolisk out, but oh well.
Unfortunately, before I could use Spore, she used Hurricane, taking out nearly 200HP in damage.
But then, Thunderbolt+STAB+double weakness+Expert Belt = cooked bird.
I knew it'd be either this or Quagsire, and I don't discount the idea that she may still have a Quagsire.
However, Victreebel is still hurt and I don't want to waste Heliolisk just yet, so I send out Garchomp.
It tried to use Fissure. It missed, though.
I didn't really need Garchomp to win, but I'm not complaining.
Now that's something Garchomp should worry about.
It shouldn't have been something Lucario should worry about, but a critical Blizzard froze him. Fixing with a Full Restore. As I did, she tried Sheer Cold. That missed too.
After an Aura Sphere brought it to very low HP, Morgan used a Full Restore. And another.
A critical Aura Sphere finished her.
I have a Crawdite in my pack, so I'm pretty sure this is her Mega.
Yep.
She hit Lucario with Aqua Jet, but it wasn't enough.
That's a Ghost-type, so Lucario is useless here. I wonder why she used Crawdaunt(who is weak to Fighting) before Jellicent?
I can't risk switching out to Heliolisk, so I burn Lucario's last turn healing Victreebel instead.
Good fighting, Lucario.
It took two Thunderbolts, during which Jellicent used Rain Dance. That might make Morgan's last Pokémon a little harder.
Time to see if the little mermaid is all she's cracked up to be.
One hit from a boosted Hydro Pump, but not a wasted effort.
I'm worried about the Speed difference. Abyssal Crush can't work(Victreebel is higher level), but Milotic might know some Ice attacks.
Worry's unfounded. Victreebel was faster.
Eh... I don't want to say it... but that
was easier than the previous two fights.
"Good luck, Akura. May you make it all the way."Just one more to go. I'm not letting the previous fights lull me into a false sense of security. I fully expect Wilson to be as brutal as one would expect two legendaries fused into one would be. Healing every one up, and checking PP counts before moving on.
All I know is Wilson has Black Kyurem or Zekrom or whatever it is. And that's bad enough.
"expecting you.""dragonic Pokémon to win battles!""before! Bring it on!"Ooh! A secret!
I'm surprised his battlecry isn't "FOR SCIENCE!!".
Klefki can handle this, assuming he doesn't get Fire Blasted in the first turn.
Well, Earth Power. At least Play Rough returned the damage. I can assume he would use Full Restores, so I can probably draw some extra health off of Flygon.
I was right, but Draining Kiss didn't do nearly as much damage as I thought it would, so I switch to Garchomp.
Took the expected Earth Power alright.
As far as I know, Flygon is supposed to be pretty fast, so Garchomp striking first is a good indicator.
What the flying hell is that? Or did I answer myself?
It had Dunsparce's cry exactly, so I assume this is specific to the Omicron/Zeta games. Is this Wilson's unique fusion Pokémon?
It hit me with Devour, which is a Dragon-type draining move. Luckily, Garchomp survived(due in part to all those Audinos it ate, plus rematches vs Jonathan), and Dragon Claw brought it low enough for Wilson to use his other Full Restore.
While Wilson used a Full Restore, I risked all-or-nothing with Dragon Rush, which has less than 100% accuracy. Risky, but it worked. Megasparce was faster than Garchomp, so it was a necessary risk.
Hmm, logic would indicate an impending Dragon-type attack.
Nope, Moonblast, which is worse, although Klefki is still pretty resistant to it. I'll risk healing Klefki though Altaria may know a Fire attack.
Actually, she used Sky Attack. And Klefki was faster after all.
Now that's something that likely knows Fire-type attacks.
...Only it used Zen Headbutt while I used a Full Restore on Garchomp. Then Double-Edge while Klefki drained it.
That was a little too easy.
I call Hax.
She brought Klefki down to 2HP with Giga Impact, but the two Draining Kisses he gave her more than healed through that.
What is that supposed to mean? Could he be...?
I was kinda rolling a die as to whether it'd be him, Oak, or Zeus, so not really surprised...But, Dragonite. I was expecting this one. Given that the entire rest of my team is fighting fit, Klefki doesn't need to win this one.
Draining Kiss(my last one) barely left a scratch, but Dragonite missed with Hurricane.
Play Rough, however, nearly killed it. Low Defense, high Sp. Defense?
Is it just me, or did the Elite Four get
easier the further I got? I didn't even lose anyone this time.
"saw you last.""independent trainer."Mm-hmm?
Well, that beats having Oak or Zeus or that other, blue-haired guy as my dad.
"long time ago."Oh hey, Mom joined the party.
It's quite alright. I think I can understand why.
"he's moved on."Oh, so Miranda is going to be my step-mom? Wait, she's almost as young as me! That's kinda... awkward.
Please don't fight in front of your child.
"For now, anyways."Well, that's less of a surprise than finding out Wilson is my dad.
...That was supposed to be sarcastic, but it's actually a pretty logical statement out of context.
"Follow me."Going to fight her after all. I knew it would happen eventually.
It's fine. I'm not upset about it at all.
"I know I may never be as close to you as your mother was, but I hope we can try to be family, even if we will always be separated."Hey. One rule: I am NOT to be used as leverage against Mom. Nor am I going to let her use me as leverage against you. Whatever happened between you two is between you two. Don't take it out on me.
Right, last minute healing before finishing this. Actually, only Klefki has any damage, so all he needs is a few Ethers to restore PP for Draining Kiss and Play Rough. Everyone else, hopefully, has enough PP for this fight. The scariest part is that I don't know her team. She has Lucario, but I don't know what else, or who to send out first. Since Victreebel is my starter, I should probaby use him first.
...Let's do this.
"Over your years, you've grown so much.Mom...
...Hit me with everything you have. I want to earn this.
...And I don't want people saying nepotism won this fight.
Ah, I see. Bruisers, huh?
Out-bruised.
She's packing
legendaries?!
Actually, that's still good. Leaf Blade brought it to critical health, forcing Mom to waste her Full Restores for the battle.
Not the first legendary I've taken down. You should know that better than anyone(except Zeus), Mom.
If she has Entei(and, presumably, Raikou), why did she use Suicune first?
Entei could be a problem. I have a solution.
A Fire Blast missed(luckily) while Victreebel Spored it. And this is how I deal with Fire-types.
Entei didn't do much damage to Garchomp, goddamn Swagger did. Come on, Mom. Is that why Jake is so infatuated with you?
I wondered when I'd see you.
Garchomp could do this if he was fully healed, otherwise Klefki could do it.
Oh, hey, Mom? Where did you get that? I want one.
I had used a Hyper Potion to heal Garchomp, but Mega-Lucario hit it with Flash Cannon, almost erasing all that healing. Luckily, I have plenty of Hyper Potions. I just wish I knew how many PP Flash Cannon has...
Unfortunately, Aura Sphere did as much damage, meaning Garchomp has to fall so I can switch to somebody who can fight back.
He hit with Dragon Pulse as well. Mega-Lucario was faster, and the only two Pokémon that are faster than Garchomp are Excadrill and Heliolisk. I'll let Heliolisk hopefully get a paralysis hit in.
Heliolisk got a critical hit in with Thunderbolt, but I forgot that she was part Normal-type. Still, if the next Pokémon can get a hit in, I should be good.
Steel-types are weak to Earthquakes.
...And Steel-types are also weak to Aura Spheres.
Victreebel isn't fast enough to hit first, but should be tough enough to survive to hit second.
Being half-Poison helps.
Time to employ my most effective strategy yet: MAX REVIVE SPAM!
First back up is Garchomp. Raikou barely hurt Victreebel with Discharge.
Next is Excadrill. Raikou built himself up with Calm Mind.
Last is Heliolisk...
And Raikou dealt a killing blow with Extrasensory. Figures
.
I figure Excadrill can resist that Extrasensory, as well as immunity to Electricity.
Raikou got a critical hit, but that's all.
Seriously? Is that how you and Dad met? Making seriously screwed-up Pokémon?
Well, if that thing Transforms, I can knock it down with an Earthquake.
It used Mean Look instead, so no switching. But then, Excadrill hit first and hit hard, so I don't have to.
...Is that how you got over breaking up with Dad? That... thing? That's... that's so wrong. Gauh.
(Remember Ditto's most common use. Or not, if you can't stomach that.)"Quasar League!""could never do. You have surpassed me, Akura.""life.""names of legends!""In fact, I-"*rumble*
That, Mom, was the sound of shit hitting a fan.
*rumble*
"I'm not liking this..."(Damn, I was hoping to end this on the 2000th image. But I guess it's ironic considering what was happening at the 1000th one)
"Luckily, nobody was hurt... But they emanated from Nyasa Town!"That's where Divaevus first appeared, wasn't it? Kinda ruined the local property value when it did...
"I think he's finally caught it!"Oh. That... that sucks.
"How could we let this happen? While we were celebrating Akura's victory, we weren't tracking him! He could have easily just slipped off the radar!""But the world needs saving once again!"...I know. I'll go.
"I guess its time to go back to Nyasa Town, where everything began! Where Team Olympus first attacked, and where Divaevus first emerged! We're off once again! Golurk, use fly!"Wait, Golurk can learn Fly?
"I have caught Divaevus! He now resides under my control! I used his awesome power to cause a couple earthquakes to get you attention. I didn't hurt anyone, did I?"Divaevus knows Earthquake, got it. (It doesn't)
"I've never forgiven you for that embarassing loss on Mt. Press... I will show you my incredible power! And after I win, Victini will be mine!"No chance to prepare, no idea what I'm facing, battle style is still Set.
Three? There's Shaymin, Divaevus, and... who's third?
Oh, Metagross. Spored. Switched to Excadrill, tanked a Zen Headbutt, Earthquaked.
That was the easy part.
Shaymin is in Sky Forme, so Excadrill can't hit it. Garchomp, however...
Lost. How about Heliolisk?
Not much better, but at least she can hit.
She went down, but gave me an opening. If Zeus uses a Full Restore here, I can get Stun Spore off and revive Garchomp next turn. If not...
Air Slash, which missed.
All that's left is... crap.
Can that thing even be beaten?
Strangely, it had Download as its ability. Didn't Zeus say it had something called Tesseract?
It first used Dragon Pulse for limited damage, and it was susceptible to Spore. Time to heal teammates.
After Heliolisk was revived, Divaevus revealed that Tesseract was an attack move, which was only marginally stronger than Dragon Pulse. I use a Hyper Potion on Victreebel in time for a Psychic. Still not a killing blow, but it hurt. Last was ExtremeSpeed, which hit for a critical, but still within healing range of a Hyper Potion.
After another Dragon Pulse and Psychic, I manage to paralyze Divaevus.
Hah, even gods cannot take me on!
Oh, so you're not going to go completely nuts and try to murder me this time?
"I have Divaevus, I have everything I have ever wanted!"...Except Victini, my life, and a few other things, I'm sure.
"trainer so powerful he sealed himself away in a dark cave, never to be seen again. I alone know where this cave is. The 5th Sigil Hall, they call it. The Hall of Legends! I will find this trainer, and I will destroy him! I will sacrifice him to the power of Divaevus, and finally Team Olympus will reign eternal!"Well, there's the madness I was expecting. How do you plan to beat a trainer so powerful when *I* just beat your ass?
"Athena's betrayal, and Apollo and Artemis' failures."Aren't the latter two dead?
"Divaevus! Use Tesseract!"What does that do, anyways? It didn't hurt Victreebel all that much.
After a burst of rainbow wizardry from Divaevus, they're gone.
"lost to the winds of time. You heard Zeus. Sacrificing a powerful trainer to Divaevus may power him up to divine levels."Oh, so a living chunk of Almighty Arceus isn't divine already?
"From there, you can surf east to Dojran City. Dojran City lies in the Vesryn Spear, the eastmost landmass in Vesryn. Dojran is also the host of the first Sigil Hall, the Hall of Victors. Tobias is a resident there. If you want, you can challenge the Sigil Halls when you're there, but your first priority is to find the 5th one, and find this powerful trainer.Actually, I'm going to have to challenge them anyway. I've already learned that I cannot use Rock Climb without doing so.
"your victory... but I'm afraid we have no choice. I hope we'll see you soon."And with that, I'm left alone in the ruins of my hometown, a Champion, but not victorious.
