Having defeated the Superior City Gym Leader, and completing every challenge available at the moment, except for the hints about
three legendaries, it's time to leave Superior City.
But first, obligatory skill requirements.
I know of a guy just like that who was recently viciously mindraped by a Hypno that I totally didn't send after him. And, oh look, I have HM04 Strength.
Too easy.
Before heading out, I noticed the Pokémart got some new things in, namely Great Balls, Super Potions, all the status cures, and Escape Ropes.
Now to finally leave. In the gatehouse, the guard gives me some friendly advice.
"Team Olympus has been sighted down there!"You hear that, Bellsprout? It's almost lunchtime.
But wait, I thought I was supposed to be heading to Fianga Town?
*double-checks the map*
Oh, Onega is on the way, and apparently has the Safari Zone. Cool.
First step out from Superior. The Pokédex entries for everything I've caught show them to live only in the areas I caught them in so far, so I should be seeing some new Pokémon on this route, except Pidgey and Ratata who live in just this part of Route 302. I also noticed something unusual, in addition to Weedle, Whismur and Riolu's entries show an unknown nest, even though I've encountered both of them at least twice in Wonder Cave. Likewise, Metapod's nest is unknown, but Butterfree's is not. Butterfree even has two nests, Route 301 and somewhere on the far right of the map.
Looking more closely at the Pokédex funtions, it shows the different forms of certain Pokémon, such as gender differences. For example, I didn't know that the female Butterfree has black spots on its lower wings while the male does not, or that the male Ratata has longer whiskers. This blew my mind.
The first three encounters were Pidgeys, who were promptly used as punching bags for Bellsprout, but the next one was:
Sleep Powder came in handy with this one.
A few more Pidgeys and Hoppips looking like they met Bobby Brown, I encounter a woman who says she's excited about working at the Day-Care.
And for some reason decides to attack me unprovoked.
I didn't expect to see that.
It takes Riolu out in one hit with Flame Wheel.
Luckily, Geodude manages to bring it down, learning Rock Throw afterwards.
Is women who think I'm cute violently assaulting me like that normal? Having really enjoyed playing MonsterGirl Quest, I'm used to it, but
I'm not normal.
Next encounter was...
Some kind of lightning zebra.
Followed by some kind of evil cat hooker.
After a double Pidgey encounter, Riolu learned Feint.
I'm trying to cross the street and I have listen to this crap? I'm kicking this guy's ass.
His first Pokémon was an easy Poochyena.
His second was Shinx, who somehow is able to Intimidate Riolu. Then again, it dropped Riolu to 2HP and paralyzed him with a single Spark, so I'm changing him out for Geodude. Shinx can't make a dent in Geodude.
No, but I
will bust a cap in your ass if you try that again. That is not an idle threat.
Next to be captured was...
A starter. It took some effort to catch it, too. Two normal Pokéballs and a Great Ball.
Continuing on, I meet this guy.
"own."
Ł200 says that guy is the main villain.
"I'll take that bet."
"I want some of that action."Quiet you two, you can't even talk.
Anyway, next to our encounter with blue-haired Vegeta, a fisherman asks us if we've ever gone fishing. I haven't, so he gives me an Old Rod.
And a bite!
Well of course it's going to be a Magikarp!
Just as I'm walking away from several dead Magikarp(because Butterfree needed some experience), a scientist wants me to see his Pokémon.
Pokémon and meth do not mix.
His first Pokémon was Bulbasaur, who managed a bloody match against Butterfree. Butterfree learned PoisonPowder and Stun Spore from it, and I deleted Harden and String Shot since those moves don't make sense anymore. I decided not to go for Sleep Powder, though.
His next one was Pidgey. I sent in Geodude because it was actually pretty funny when Devon hit my fliers with Rock Throw.
I told you, Pokémon and meth do not mix.
This guy loves his bug Pokémon.
Both my Beautifly and his Butterfree managed to poison each other, but Beautifly held out longer. His Beedril was even easier, since my Butterfree spammed Confusion while Beedril spammed Focus Energy.
I don't want to know what the hell that means.
I'll also note that, as I mentioned before, Weedle has an unknown nest, but Beedril has a nest in Route 301.
More and more I'm finding that Beautifly, and to a lesser extent, Butterfree, aren't quite pulling out the damage like the others. I'm not sure what to replace Beautifly with yet. At the least, Butterfree can function as a status bomb.
Anyway, this guy claims to have the two strongest Pokémon of all time. OF ALL TIME.
His first choice is Ratata. Yeah. Beautifly actually hit pretty hard with Gust against it.
His next choice is another Ratata. They do happen to be causing more damage than I thought they would, so I send in Riolu to Counter that. It works.
Watch your language! Children play this game! Won't somebody think of the goddamn children?!
I thought all Jugglers did that.
And finally, there's this old guy.
I want to beat the crap out of this old guy so hard.
So I do.
Nothing special, just Bulbasaur. Riolu leveled up while asleep.
If I had Blitzle with me, I'd EMP your goddamned pacemaker.
Turns out he also likes metal.
Past another gatehouse, this one unmanned, we're now on Route 303.
The first encounter is Zigzagoon.
The first place of interest is the Day-Care.
Where somebody left three different starters for some reason.
"I help take care of the precious Pokémon of trainers."

I didn't think PokéJapan was that progressive.
Apparently so.
I generally don't leave Pokémon at the Day-Care unless I'm breeding. Mostly because when you leave them at the Day-Care, you don't control what moves they learn. And live-fire training the best training.
Nothing happens after that, except a failed attempt to catch Abra, since I had Starly in front and couldn't immobilize it before it could Teleport. Nothing, until a double encounter with Zigzagoon and Patrat, that is.
While trying to find another Abra, I catch Shinx instead.
And Spearow.
Unfortunately, a second attempt at catching Abra was also a failure when said Abra turned out to be faster than Bellsprout. I guess I can try Butterfree and hope Stun Spore locks it down.
First try at that didn't work. Stun Spore failed to stop it.
Second attemp, success! ...Although Butterfree got paralyzed by Synchronize.
Huzzah, (empty) glass cannon aquired. I suppoze Abra would be the one to leave at the Day-Care, since it doesn't learn anything until it evolves into Kadabra.
And lastly, there's Pidove.
The Pokémon that craps on all the cars, if PokéJapan actually had any cars.
Current catching spree completed, I press on.
As you can see, night has fallen. I left Superior City when it was still morning, so this has been one long update. (Actually, I've been playing this update over two days, not just one.)
A battle with a bird keeper who mistook me for a bird was unremarkable except that he had a Staravia, Starly's evolution. However, it did result in one happy event:
Woot.
And:
WOOT.
Then there was a pair of Pokémon Rangers who took out nearly half my team with Ponyta and Growlithe setting stuff on fire. They had a Herdier take down Staravia, too. Ouches. Next opponent was a psychic who was more fake than Ms. Cleo, though her Kadabra was not. Riolu learned Force Palm from the battle, turning him into a goddamned Jedi. He quickly put his newfound Jedi power demolishing some Youngster's Zigzagoon and Patrat.
Along the way, I come across a cave called Midnight Way.
It contains a new Pokémon.
I would dispute that entry. Diglett would be useful at plowing time only. The rest of the time you definitely wouldn't want them around or else they'll ruin your crops. Plus, I don't even think I've seen any farms in the Pokémon games. I've seen a Miltank ranch and a berry orchard, but no actual farm where Diglett would be supposedly useful.
The rest of the cave is a maze of high encounter rates, but nothing special, except what looked like one of those spots you build a Secret Base at in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald.
The back of the cave exits to... rain.
The area is titled Midnight Mansion Ext. I guess that means a place to break and enter and sleep in. Of course there has to be a goddamn hedge maze in the way.
Filled with these.
Took me far too many balls to catch.
And these.
It has an actual ass for a face. It's cry also sounds like a fart.
It farts dreams. Or ejaculates them?
Making it through the hedge, the guard refuses me entrance.

cave maze. Sounds like a villain.
On the way away from here, I catch Zorua.
A kitsune. Or would that be a kumiho, which are generally more evil? Either way, bastard took down Butterfree while capturing it.
Back on the road to Onega, I beat down a Gentleman who suggests the mansion is possessed, and full of Dark- and Ghost-types. Obviously.
Finally reaching a gatehouse, hopefully to Onega, or at least somewhere to break for the night. I'm about to enter it...

Finally made it to Onega Town. It's been an eventful day. Filled out the Pokédex, met the suspected main villain, Bellsprout and Starly evolved, and beat down my obnoxious rival. Tired from the days travels, I simply pass out and collapse on the street. Good night.
