Oh come on. You live in a universe with Sleep Powder/Spore/other sleep-inducing moves, numerous sources of paralysis, and more than a few ways of freezing someone solid... and you resort to choloform rags?

I'll also bet $5 that nobody thought to remove Akura's Pokemon, thereby leaving him defenseless, and instead have allowed their captive to keep their nigh-unstoppable army. (Which includes a Zoroark, whose Illusion basically guarantees a socially-engineered escape from most situations.)

Because if you play Zeta she is another trainer altogether... So they are pretty much locked into it

Quick notes: Electric/Water aren't super-effective against Steel, just normally so, which is better than a lot of elements can say. Your Staraptor should eventually get a good Fighting move, which is super-effective against Steel, though.

Focus Band is reusable, but only activates something like 20% of the time or so, so no, Shedinja won't become an immortal pokégod with one on.

If you ever decide to switch around party members again, consider that Drilbur. His evolved form, Excadrill, is an absolute murderbeast.

The Gyaradosite and transforming Scizor you encountered are parts of the Gen VI Mega-Evolution system, which I won't go into real detail about here, save to mention that it works like you saw: Once unlocked, you can situationally transform certain pokemon holding their respective '-ite' in-combat into a new, often stronger, form lasting the rest of the combat. Omicron/Zeta also decided to add some new Megas of their own, IIRC, including Sceptile and Marshtomp. (This before GameFreak revealed Alpha/Omega Ruby/Sapphire, which boasts the official Mega-Evolutions for those two.)

You need to use Skill Swap to give it Sturdy for that to happen.

Of course, you can't use Skill Swap on Shedninja, because it doesn't work on Wonder Guard. You first have to switch his ability to something else, with something like Worry Seed or Simple Beam, and then swap over Study.

Then you use toxic, poison, Athena's Water Blast, or any move that does damage passively.

Though it would be funny if you did that... And they froze Shedinja and you just used Athena Blast over and over again.

Poison works, but after the first turn Shedninja will be paralyzed. Confusion works, as do partial-trapping moves, but nobody runs the latter.

Confusion also suffers from having a lot of the good confusion moves being banned.

I don't like confusion builds anyway gameplay wise. After playing Omicron and Zeta enough you learn to despise confusion as it pretty much becomes the single most annoying aspect of the game.

To the point where you will honestly use pokemon immune to confusion JUST so you have one.

Later on you can buy dream orbs where this guy will switch your pokemon's ability to their Hidden ability. You can even switch their normal ability which is essential for some pokemon (but you can just use an item for that)

Clearing through Grunts in my way, one of them lets this slip.


He, and his Boldore and Graveler, are promptly eviscerated by Victreebel.

After him is another work area. One of the monitors has something.

No effect so far of running it.


Two floors up past a hallway of horribly broken guards, I'm presented with three paths.

According to one Grunt, shortly before being thrown through a wall lungs-first, one leads to Athena's experiment chamber, another to the Master Ball storage, and a third to the exit. The one that screenshot is on appears to be towards the exit, as the top is blocked off by a moving staircase powered from the next room.


Taking a different path, I come across a break room with a rather forlorn-looking grunt.

He asks me to guess the letters of his name, which of course I already know the answer.



There's a few bits about his story that I can definitely call bullshit on, but he gives me TM68 Giga Impact, which is a physical counterpart to Hyper Beam.

By the way, I stopped watching the anime right around the start of the Johto series, right after the Orange Islands saga. What happened to Misty, exactly?

Before leaving I steal some Leftovers and a Soda Pop off the table.

The next Grunt informs me that I'm on the path heading to Athena. I want the Master Ball first, so I head back the other way.


After beating the sole guard, I pick this up.
It's awesome, holding this greatest of balls in my hand.

Anyway, heading back the way I came, towards Athena, there's just one more Grunt on this floor.

Actually, you're being commanded to let me pass by the Leaf Blade that Victreebel has at your throat, and would gladly cut through if not held back only by my command and the fact that it's damn hard to draw blood onto one of these screenshots.


Finally at the top, where Athena is giving a speech to her rebellious faction.

Can't they use a Master Ball like with Shaymin? Nope, 'cuz I have it!

Hmm, could be outmatched here.
I switch to Helioptile, but Noctowl beats her down after being brought down to critical HP. I send Staraptor to take revenge, but Athena used a Full Restore. And then another. I guess it's good that she's wasting them now. A few hits from Aerial Ace later and Noctowl goes down.

For some reason, Mienshao tried to use Wide Guard, and as far as I know, that's only useful in group battles. I could be wrong, it could stop any attack that can multihit, even during one-vs-one. Either way, he's confused by Psybeam.

Mienshao used U-Turn to swap with Medicham. She's poisoned by Butterfree. Unfortunately, Butterfree got paralyzed two turns in a row by Force Palm. That's *my* move, bitch. For some odd reason, she continued to use Acupressure until finally being broght down by Gust and poison damage.

Athena sent out Mienshao again. He promptly U-Turns.

Bringing out Lucario.
Lucario failed with three Quick Guards in a row, followed by two Swords Dances, before Athena switched out with Mienshao again. For some reason, Mienshao was fully healed as well. I had Butterfree poison Mienshao, so it would stop doing that. The next turn it fell to Psybeam.


Says the woman sending out a crippled Lucario.
Which tried to use Quick Guard again. I don't know if it even knew any attack moves.

Found the Master Ball already. As for rare Pokémon, there hasn't been a single wild encounter here, so I don't know what he means.

He leaves, and it's time for me to do the same. Heading back up, I make it out of the base.

And out onto Route 310, near Kivu Town. Actually, I'm right above the exit from Route 309

Well that was a fun escape. Now I've met Corlett, the Electric master of the Elite Four. I guess knowing the specialties of the Elite Four will allow me to plan ahead for them.

Let's see. Corlett is Electric, so I'm going to need a Ground-type. I guess I could build Geodude back up, but I'm sure Corlett will plan for that.
Tobias is Ghost, and Zoroark can deal with that. Morgan is Water, so Helioptile and Victreebel can do that. Wilson, Dragon, will be a problem. I suppose I could get Dratini from the Game Corner, and team it up with Lucario. And as for Mom, she used Lucario at the begining, so she's either a Fighting or Steel-type user.

Anyway, I'm just rambling about stuff in the future. For now, I should focus on getting to Mt. Press to snatch Victini away from Zeus. And, if my information is correct, snag Groudon in the process.
