Hooray, the region is at peace now that Zeus is securely imprisoned in Megasparce's digestive tract. ...And now I feel really sorry for Zeus. Almost. He was kind of a dick.
I'm told that there is another region to explore called Aroma, but there's some loose ends to tie up here in Vesryn. I've been playing around with Tesseract a bit, and it opens some interesting locations. Basically, if there's some interesting object, point Tesseract at it.
Before heading out to wreck the timeline in the region, let's head back to the ruins of Nyasa Town. It'd be good to see home one last time before leaving the region.
*sigh*
Still destroyed.
It's not like I have anything to turn back the clock.
Oh wait. Yes I do.
Either I cut a hole in time, or I'm suffering a major psychological episode here.
No you're not. Don't mess with me, I'm from the future, I know how you die.
Actually, saying stuff like that may have been why people were giving me funny looks back then.
"Apo- my scientist boss, told me to make it more stable, to cover it up a bit more. You know I mean? If the Collider's energy stream fluctuates, this entire town could be destroyed! That's why I need to fix-
!""I'm sure nothing bad will happen."Well, that was a huge load of revelations. First, Apollo
was right about it being the scientists fault the town was destroyed, and he was actually looking out for the town. I gotta apologize to that guy. Second, the Collider has
always been a threat to Nyasa. And the Collider was built by... GODDAMMIT DAD!!
Third, that triangle over the hole looks an awful lot like Deoxys from the Gen III games.
"It's the first job I've ever had!"Oh, don't worry everyone. She survives. I've battled her before... or later. Goddammit, time disconnect is already getting to me.
"not worth much."First, this guy is in my house. Second, he gives me a Dinoticket. I guess I'll be heading to the Ladoga ferry soon. I'm assuming it goes to a Jurassic Park-like place with all the fossil Pokémon. I'm not sure what the point of that since I have at least one of every fossil already, I just haven't resurrected them yet.
"seperate the bond we've shared!""in the immediate future!"
...Yeah, the whole town is full of these.
"It's shiny, with perfect EVs and IVs! I hope nothing happens to it!"See?
Hold on. How is that possible? Don't IVs determine shininess? And maxed IVs don't cause shininess. ...Unless she stockpiled IV Stones and had the IV Changer do that.
Wait, this is my house? Back in normal time, my house was in the northwest corner of town, and this house is in the southeast corner.
"Not that we will, of course!""I wonder what's going on inside?"
Well, for the answer to that, ask the Day Care couple what happens when you put Skitty and Wailord in the pen together.
Hello old man who I vaguely remember and may be a figment of my imagination.
I learned all about these newfangled cameras and photographs! See, my son is out taking pictures of the region! He taught me how to examine pictures and find out what they're truly about. If there is a Photograph you would like me to examine, please tell me!"I haven't come across any of those. Yet.
Before leaving, I also find the Pokémon Center. Somehow, the PC system still works, through time(or insanity).
I Tesseract back to the ruins of town, and leave via the Collider tunnel. Then I remembered that there was still a trade available there, a 1HP Pokémon for a "ferret". Given the general ammorality of everyone associated with Dad(myself included), I feel I need to get that. I run out to Shadow Path to catch a Roggenrola with Sturdy, get it beat up, and trade it.
Along the way, I get this instead.
I find a Dwebble with Sturdy, so that works.
Next, I get it to 1HP, and bring it to the lab to trade.
*facepalm*
And Eevee is not a ferret. Furret is a ferret. I'm not really sure what Eevee is supposed to be. I didn't really need this trade anyway, since I could have bred the whole set from Glaceon. This Eevee's name is Foxxy, implying that Eevee is based on a fox?
Next stop is Onega Town.
I was only here for a laugh, but...
The Time Caller is a replacer for Tesseract. Wait, if Zeus had this, why did he need Divaevus to use Tesseract? He could already do it!
Wait, did I just cause a time paradox? I mean, I went to the past and took the Time Caller. Therefore, Zeus could never take it, and thus be unable to summon Shaymin and Divaevus. As such, I would never have needed to go to the Timelocked Temple and get Tesseract, since Zeus' plan would have been aborted, and therefore I would be unable to have Tesseracted into the museum to take the Time Caller, meaning it was there for Zeus to take anyway and...
*rumble*
I'm sure that was completely unrelated entirely.
Note that, using the Time Caller or Tesseract at the spot where Zeus summoned Shaymin does not summon Shaymin despite Zeus technically was now not able to summon it.
In the Onega grotto in the back of town, however, I find a different Pokémon instead.
Mmm.. tasty-looking.
Next destination is Turkana Town. The Turkana Stone was linked to Arceus in the ancient past, so...
Well. Huh.
That item is the Omega Photograph. The description is "A polaroid photograph of a white figure. The Greek letter Omega is written in marker."
Okay, that is creepy. This is something to bring back to the dead guy in Nyasa Town.
"it. It has very powerful origins, that is for sure. It may even come from space, or from the ancient, ancient past. When I look at it, I think of a word. The word that I think of is "ETERNAL". I'm sorry I could not help you more."More creep. If it came from space, that'd be Deoxys. If it's the ancient past, Arceus.
Since I have no more information on this lead, my next destination on this timescrew tour is Naragex Forest. There's a shrine there.
Actually, first, I point the Time Caller(Tesseract did nothing) at the Base Entrance in Superior City, as someone next to it said that Ho-oh died there. I get the Rainbow Wing.
For the forest shrine, though, Celebi used to live there. I know why it left.
The reason Celebi left... is me.
"Hey, you there! Stop messing with the timeline, asshole!"Oops. I think I just doomed the future.
The next place was Mt. Press, but there's nowhere to screw time and I'm still blocked off from the top. Yes, by Team Olympus. Apparently, they don't know Zeus is dead.
Next is Caspian City. Using Tesseract there at the north end of town got me the Rare Box for Seed Flare.
Just two more places that I can think of where Tesseract can be useful. First is Mount Nova. There was something odd about the scene when Athena lost Heatran. Well, the mysterious trainer that caught Heatran was not Jake. It almost looked like... Red. And Red almost looks like... well...
I had wondered why those lines were there. They mark the area Tesseract can be used.
For once I'm doing something to
preserve the timeline.
HEY ATHENA! SPOILER ALERT: ZEUS DIES AND YOU GO TO PRISON!!
"The bridge is gone! How could it be! I'll find that person! I will kill them for this! I will have my vengeance!"OH, BY THE WAY ATHENA, THE BABY ISN'T ZEUS'! IT'S JAKE'S!
What? That's funny.
Huh, I just realized the Mythologist's hint about Groudon being on Mt. Press may actually have been for Heatran on Mount Nova(the last line of the hint is "stars explode" ie a nova). Then again, his hint about Celebi didn't appear until I had Tesseract.
As I head out on to the snow-covered peak of Mount Nova, a random use of the Time Caller reveals something else.
After catching this, I go to Dojran for whatever reason, and the Time Caller nets me the Rare Box for Dark Void. Likewise, seeing before I head to last destination that I can think is significant, the Constance Safari Zone gives me a Weatherstone. Not sure if this is what changes Landorus, Thundurus, and Tornadus into their Therian Formes, or if it's just a combination of the hold items that double the time of weather moves.
No wait, the description says that it's cold, hot, and electrically charged. That's the legendary bird trio here in Constance. Checking those statues requires me to make a choice of which one I want, unless there are more Weatherstones in the game(maybe? It's not a Key Item).
Anyways, the last stop on this timewrecked journey is Yangtze Town. Why? There was a legend about a temple that, long ago, fell into the sea.
And this patch of grass is the only spot in town where Tesseract can be used. It took me far less time than I thought it would to find.
Now, for this temple.
According to the save, it's called Delta Temple.
There are several paths here. I'll take the one on the far left.
More lava. In an ocean temple.
There are trainers here, all called Delta Priests and Priestesses. They have teams of various sizes with levels in the 105 range. This area happens to have Fire-types.
"Are you from a different time perchance?"Oh crap, they're on to me.
That is not a name, that is a sneeze. He had Pignite and Emboar. The previous Priestess had Charmeleon and Charizard. I'm seeing a pattern here.
Living gods wrecking everything. It's horrible. You should all kill yourselves and save the trouble.
The next Priestess mentions that there is a Delta Leader at the end of this chamber. I saw entrances to other chambers which must have their own leader. I wonder what's at the end.
"townspeople wish to seal us away..."Oh? And they told me it sank.
But in the future, the townspeople were successful, and without the temple bringing in trainers to challenge the place, Yangtze's economy crashed.
"homes secluded away."So there's more Delta Pokémon here? And yes, those Deltas' homes are secluded, except Delta Snorlax's home which was an actual house. Hmm, I haven't found Delta Milotic yet, but it must be around somewhere.
"Chamber. Defeat me and the Forest and Ocean Leaders and gain passage to the other chambers. But like all other challenges, you will be destroyed. Delta means change, and change consumes like fire. Now, feel the wrath of the inferno!"This guy means business.
He had Arcanine, Typhlosion, Torkoal, Volcarona, and Delta Ninetales. The first three were Earthquaked. I had Heliolisk soften up Volcarona, but she was beaten when the bug was dropped to one hitpoint, then Excadrill finished it. I don't know what Delta Ninetales type was.
He looked like a Ghost-type to me, actually. Anyway, that Earthquake took him out.
With him down, it's time to go to the other chambers.
The Forest Chamber. There was actually two entrances. I don't know why. The last time I faced a hedge maze was in fact going to get Cresselia.
The trainers here are a bit harder than the last chamber, since the only Pokémon with a super-effective attack is Cresselia, who has terrible attack stats, and most of them are Bug-type, which I have nothing for. Most of them seem to think I'm laughing at them.
Basically - since I'm not screenshotting too many of these guys - their philosophy revolves around the concept of change, and they see Delta Pokémon, Pokémon that have changed their type to something different from their base species, as the highest aspect of change.
"Are you from the future? What has happened to our temple?"According to the Temporal Prime Directive, I'm not allowed to tell you. But since there is no Temporal Prime Directive, you all die. Even you.
Pretty much. Have fun crying in despair.
The path that guy was on was actually a turn away from the back entrance to the leader's spot.
"Chamber. Defeat me and the Inferno and Ocean Leaders and gain passage to the other chambers. Is it really worth the fighting? The worship of Delta Pokémon is like living in a luscious garden. Very few people can call up the conviction to destroy such a paradise. Are you one of the few? Are you willing to destroy what is beautiful?"Yes.
First was Scyther, who was frozen and the defeated by Cresselia. Exeggutor had the same thing happen. Then Sceptile was frozen. I've never had three in a row frozen like that. Unfortunately, Accelgor did no follow suit, and I had to bring in Excadrill to deal with that.
Last was Delta Pinsir, who was used before(or later, we're in the past remember?) by Athena. An Earthquake sorted that one out. I still haven't figured out its type, though. I said Poison last time, but I don't think that was the case, since Earthquake did normal damage. Let's see, weak to Psychic, neutral to Ice and Ground. I only have the Gen II chart right now, but apparently Ice and Ground attacks are not actually ineffective against Fighting, so Delta Pinsir may well be Fighting-type after all. That would fit with Athena's team.
Hah, just wait.
One last section for now.
It appears I have to go through the frozen underground part. Surfing along the top part only gets me this.
A Fire mermaid? And for some reason, they replaced Milotic's normal cry with Dunsparce/Megasparce's(Delta Milotic is right under Megasparce in the Pokédex).
As for the underground part, defeating the priests is required to proceed. They're using a mix of Water- and Ice-types. I've got counters for both.
For some reason, every single one of them has opened with Dewott, followed by Glalie.
One of them mentions the end of the temple is the Delta Champion. He was the last one to open with Dewott and Glalie, since the next guy sent in Abomasnow, Walrein, and Beartic. The priestess after him also used Abomasnow, but instead had Mamoswine and Weavile. After her was a button that opened the way on the top level.
"Chamber. Defeat me and the Forest and Inferno Leaders and gain passage to the other chambers.""right back at you. Delta means adaptability, and I can adapt to any situation. Bring it on!"What, she's a Borg?
Apparently, they couldn't figure out Katie's gender.
She had Lapras who fell to a Leaf Blade. Then s/he sent out Delta Milotic, who was Earthquaked, and I would never have figured out that one in time if I hadn't just caught one. The rest of his/her team, Samurott, Gyrados, and Lanturn, were taken out by Victreebel and Heliolisk.
Resistance is futile.
Unfortunately, she tells me that there are many more chambers to go. The Inferno Chamber had Fire-types, Forest Chamber had Grass and Bug, Ocean had Water and Ice. Having beaten the Forest, Inferno, and Ocean Leaders, a new chamber opened up.
The Mind Chamber. Each of those branches leads to two more branches. I take the branch on the left.
Heretic. Burn.
She had two Bronzors and a Bronzong. I expected Psychic-types, but is Steel making an appearance here?
Is she speaking in tongues?
Nope, a fatal stroke. (0_0)
To deal with the Psychic-types here, I replace Lucario's Counter with Zombie Strike.
I may have been right about Steel-types, as the other Priestess had Drowzee, Hypno, and Metang. She begged me not to kill her instead of spazzing to death. Then again, other combinations appeared with Psychic, so maybe not.
Eventually, I get Excadrill to hit Lv.120 and that appears to be the level cap. And then I reach the end of the Mind Chamber.
"Chamber. Those who associate with Delta, associate with themselves. Delta... a state of being where body and midn merge as one. Can you break the bond? Can you defeat me?"A punch to the head tends to break both mind and body.
First was Xatu who boosted himself with Ominous Wind, and just before going down did a Power Swap with Lucario. I had to let that go to take Sigilyph out with Heliolisk. Cresselia had to fight Claydol who used Explosion. Next was Delta Chimecho, which I already have. Lucario punched it in the head. Last was Alakazam, whom Lucario also punched in the head, with zombie power.
Yay. You might want to do something about that dead chick in the branch to the left of the entryway.
The Iron Chamber, which specializes in Steel-types. The first trainer says that this is the second to last chamber. Lucario and Excadrill should be fine here, although the first priest did use Noctowl for some reason.
Erm, just step onto the conveyor belt?
I have a D. Machamp that can punch you until it stops hurting, if you'd like.
In addition to seeing Noctowl, there was somebody with Loudred and Exploud, and later, Tauros. Later still, Kangaskhan. Maybe Normal-types are mixed in here?
"assimilated into the Delta. Don't think you'll be any different."Wow, they ARE the Borg after all! Actually, that was a pretty clever reference there. My mention of the Temporal Prime Directive before was not intended to be related.
This guy also had Teddiursa, Ursaring, and Magneton, confirming that the Iron Chamber is a mix of Normal and Steel. He was also the last trainer before the Iron Leader.
"Chamber. I am the final Leader before the Delta Champion. Very few trainers have ever gotten to me, and I have defeated all of them. No trainer that has come to me has ever associated with the Delta. But can you? Delta is balance. Hard and soft, yin and yang. Delta is finding equality in all things, and thus finding power. Have you discovered the Delta?"Huh, that does explain why this is a Normal and Steel mix.
He started with Kecleon, which makes sense. Next was Lucario that was a Mega Evolution. It defeated mine... I took care of that with D. Machamp. Hah, and they were saying I don't know how to Delta. Next was Delta Zangoose.
I'm gonna say Ground. And creepy as hell.
It actually wasn't Ground, because Earthquake was super effective. Rock? After that was Furret, then Steelix. Excadrill was more than a match for both.
Figures.
I'm the reason the temple sank.
Unfortunately, after beating him, I am stuck and cannot leave to go heal.
Here it is, the final chamber, the Champion Chamber.
Hiya.
And I am from the future, and I know how you die.
So that means you're ridiculously out of practice?
"Defeat me and claim the reward you deserve. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, hmm? You have to defeat me first!"I shall defeat you and preserve the timeline... oh wait, I already screwed up the timeline beyond all recognition. Nevermind. Heh.
I know, I'll guess the types of each of your Deltas! I'm gonna say, Fire/Flying.
He took out Lucario with Flare Blitz, so Fire is correct. As for Flying.
Nope, Rock. Though I am surprised she survived D. Aerodactyl's Earthquake.
Ground.
Nope, Steel.
That's Ground.
Wrong again. Whatever it was, it was resistant to Electric(not immune), but weak to Ground. Dragon/Steel like Dialga? Luckily, I paralyzed it on the first hit, and managed to heal Heliolisk.
No need to guess this one.
Taking him out was annoying, as attacks barely hurt him and he had Leftovers. Luckily, I froze him on the first hit with Ice Beam, and he stayed frozen the entire time.
...Steel? Why the hell not, most of the rest were.
Weak to Ground, at least.
"As such, I will relinquish a reward. You are the hero who defeated Zeus on Mt. Press, yes? As such, you caught the legendary creature there?"Err, that hasn't happened yet. (note: the temple sank decades ago, and according to Mom, it took a year - actually 5 months - to kill Zeus)
The power to cure cancer?
Wow, so Victini is now relevant?
Curious, I run back to get Victini.
"Victini!"Looks even dumber than before. I have him change Victini back. I also bring Thundurus to see if Talde can bring out his Therian Forme. He can't. On the way back I find that the Delta Leaders offer rematches, and they still haven't removed the dead chick from the hallway.
With the temple conquered, I'm pretty much done in the Vesryn region for now. I suppose I could wander around pressing the hotkey for the Time Caller everywhere, and there's still that Dino Park I need to check out. But this update has dragged on far enough.
