Going to hit the Hall of Heroes today. But first, I should explore Maggiore City a bit.
"access the PC Network!"This guy is trying to justify his existence of blocking that item behind him by telling me something I've known since the very begining of the game.
I'll need Rock Climb to get that item, and even to continue on past this city, so beating Corlett should allow me to use it in the field.
"I'm the Elite Four Fanboy you beat in Dojran City. Do you really have to rub it in?"Rub it in? Let me show you how I'm going to rub it in you sick bastard. Victreebel, Chandelure,
food.
"Ugh, that pedophile tasted like shit.""Isn't that a compliment coming from you?""Not this time."She gives me a Mew card for Triple Triad.
"Isn't that the town that Team Olympus blew up? Wow, that sucks!(._.)
"Subway Station. I heard they shut the Subway Station down. Something to do with Shadow Pokémon."Another region? Shadow Pokémon? Looks like this LP isn't going to be finished anytime soon. I did see the Subway Station building in Blackfist City.
"We wanted to be considered a Club, be we weren't good enough... Oh well."Guild-Club? Never heard that term before.
"I'll give you a special prize!"Yay! Bribery!
I get TM125 Rock Climb. Huzzah, now I don't have to worry about that anymore. Oh, and in case anyone was wondered, I did eventually find HM05 Waterfall a while ago.
I quickly teach it to Excadrill, replacing Rock Slide. Rock Climb is stronger, but is Normal-type and has lower accuracy.
"Going through the pathway underneath the city takes you to the Lava Sinkhole. Isn't it weird how this crater and that one are almost the exact same shape?"I dunno, maybe a meteor crashed down or something? Or it could be just another volcano.
Who wouldn't?!
She gives me a Pansear.
I have a flaming monkey!
He gives me a Rare Candy.
This is the best kind of fan, quiet but gives you stuff. Beats the hell out of the Elite Four Fanboys who are loud and obnoxious with an inflated sense of self-importance.
Of course, I don't usually use Rare Candies, so this isn't particularly helpful, but I'm not going to tell this guy that.
"everywhere! Here, you can have a flower!"She gives me a Gracidea. It went in the Key Item pocket, so it must be important for something.
By the way, I just noticed, but the flowers in town appear to be arranged in some kind of circle, centered around the Lava Sinkhole entrance. Almost like a bullseye...
Now for the Hall of Heroes. Like the Hall of Victors, it's a straight line of trainers.
For the first trainer, L.75 Chandelure almost beat a L.91 Ampharos, and would have if Inferno hadn't missed twice in a row. Maybe a should replace that Charcoal with a Wide Lens...
As before, after two normal trainers, there's...
The Dragon-type Gym Leader from Blackthorn City?
"He's just behind this door! If you think you can handle his riffs, you'll have to get through me first! Feel the power of my Flying-type team!"Flying-type? You planned on taking on Corlett with something like that?
Is that a rhinestone-studded shirt?
First was Togekiss. After seeing that Chandelure was outmatch, I switched to Heliolisk. Nearly lost her to a surprise Aura Sphere, but still no match.
Next was a Skarmory with Sturdy, who defeated Heliolisk. There goes my sweeper, I suppose. Cresselia finished it off.
Next was a Drifblim. Since there's no way Cresselia was going fight that, I switched to Victreebel and revived Heliolisk while it was Spored. He was still asleep when the Thunderbolt hit him.
Mantine was next, because Heliolisk wasn't already having an easy enough time.
Vespiquen was next. This one managed to survive more than one turn and hit Heliolisk with Swagger. Excadrill finished her off instead.
Last was Emolga. I decided to try Cresselia for this one. It nearly one-shotted the Mighty Mouse with a critical Ice Beam. The one next turn took him down.
Because he wasn't?
"unbeatable! Waaah! It's not fair! I just wanted to be the best fan ever! I guess... I guess you get to be the number one fan. Go. Just let me be!"*sigh* Teenage girls. Universally annoying.
Now that this bucket of undiluted teenage hormones is out of the way, there's just one more opponent here.
"This is my Sigil Hall! This is where I've waited for years for a good trainer to come."I suppose the challengers of Quasar Plateau aren't enough, then?
"good challenge at the Hall of Heroes since!""Your mother was already asking me about it."Well, that speeds the conversation along.
"He researched the myths and legends of the region while he was still a scientist."Great, I'll just have to ask him after kicking his ass for having a kid with an underage Miranda.
Wait, isn't he a biologist and not an archeologist or mythologist?
"Bring it on!"This isn't going to work. This battle should also be harder than last time. The trainers here, including Claire, have been using Air Balloons. Also, a few NPCs have said that some of Corlett's team use Ice Beam despite not being able to learn that. Unless possibly by some breeding trick which is beyond my mental capacity to figure out.
Anyway, I'm switching Chandelure out for Victreebel.
Victreebel lost about 1/3 of his HP to a Water Gem-boosted Hydro Pump. That could have been worse.
Spore+Leaf Blade. Always a good combo.
Level 97? Seriously? Man, Morgan is going to have a full team of 100s.
He got off a Sucker Punch that I'm actually surprised Chandelure survived, while Flame Burst brought him down to critical HP. Corlett used two Full restores when the last Flame Burst hit for full damage.
The good news is she's not holding an Air Balloon. The bad news is that's because she's holding an Ampharosite.
Not that it helped. In fact, she would have been better off with an Air Balloon, since Excadrill was (somehow) faster.
Earthquake. So horribly broken and overpowered. I will never stop using it.
I fought an Elektross before that had both Levitate and Ice Beam, and I see no reason why this one doesn't.
First turn, Lucario paralyzed him with Force Palm, then hit him with two Aura Sphere's when he couldn't move.
Lucario kinda needed that EXP.
Now, this one has a balloon. If Excadrill loses, then Ampharos would be more embarrassed than Excadrill.
Actually, Electivire should be embarrassed. He wasted the one turn the Air Balloon gave him to use
Screech of all moves.
I'd say it's a 50/50 chance of it having Levitate, so I switched to Lucario.
It boosted a Zap Cannon with an Electric Gem, leaving a Lucario-shaped hole in the wall. Ouch.
Might as well try to slide some EXP over to Cresselia.
Granted, I wasted three Full Restores of my own(one accidentally on Chandelure) because Zap Cannon hit two more times in a row, but she beat it.
It wasn't that long ago.
"hold my own against the mighty Akura. Take this!"I get the Hero's Sigil, which finally allows me to use Rock Climb outside of battle.
"prowess, but it also lets you use the Rock Climb outside of battle."I just said that! Then again, I would be worried if he heard my monologue...
He gives me TM73 Thunder Wave. Seriously? Thunder Wave? I'm also not sure about the not using TM part, since his team supposedly knows Ice Beam which comes in TM form. Then again, his team shouldn't be able to do that through TMs or possibly any other way.
"It paralyzes the opponent!"Honestly, it's a move for a cheap-shotting type of trainer, but I already have a Pokémon with Spore.
"in the caves ahead. Best of luck!"That's all for this Sigil Hall.
Hmm.. it's still a bit early to call this one done. Since I just got Rock Climb and all, it's time for some shenanigans I couldn't do before.
The first thing is that item behind the PokéCenter. It turns out to be the Hiking Boots, the replacement item for... Rock Climb. Wow. That's a serious killjoy. Here I am all happy that I can use Rock Climb, and now it's obsolete within seconds. Arceus' crap
.
I suppose this does explain how all those Hikers can get around mountains and stuff without Rock Climb.
First stop is Wonder Cave in Superior City, where I catch something I missed way before.
Basically, it's respitory system is a jet engine. I always hated this thing.
As it turns out, I missed out on a Dolly item here, which replaces Strength. So the only HM's I don't have replacements for are Rock Smash, Waterfall and Dive(I found a Machete in Agassiz town a while back, guess what it replaces).
The
real reason I came back here was a platform that could be climbed with Rock Climb, with a suspicious-looking rock on it. It was an Unown.
A
Shiny Unown.
Actually, the battle is repeatable. So
infinite Shiny Unowns(and yes, they are all Shiny). I suppose this is how you get the whole set.
Next was Route 309, which just had a Max Ether and Max Revive blocked by climbing rocks, plus one item that was apparently completely inaccessible. Oh and if anyone remembers that guy begging for Heart Scales, he just gives you a Super Potion for each.
Since I was in Route 309, I stop by Turkana Town. And more specifically, the Turkana Stone. Just a whim, but as it turns out...
"The Turkana Stone has been unofficially linked to Team Olympus' plans."Finally caught that exclamation point."of the stone. I suppose I can let you pass. I can't risk losing a lead of any kind... Go ahead. Tell us at the Police Club if you find anything!"With that, him and all but one of the other cops disappear.
Hmm, this stone is supposed to be a piece of Arceus, as are the Plates, and according to Zeus, Divaevus was born from Arceus's original Divine Plate. This could be a critical find. Or a cheap encounter.
It was the Mind Plate. I get it now. Bring a Legendary Pokémon to this stone and it coughs up a plate based on its type. That explains why I found a Toxic Plate on the ground, there's no Poison-type legendary. Then again, there's no Bug-type legendary as far as I know.
Back to Rock Climb shenanigans. Route 312 had TM01 Hone Claws. Poking around Route 315, I found something I missed.
Do Pokémon come out at different times of day? I thought ony Gold, Silver, and Crystal did that.
Next stop, Mount Press. There was a lot more there, including one more legendary besides Victini.
In the second outside area, I found a Jetpack to replace Waterfall. Really, a Jetpack? I also found a Banettite in the waterfall cave area. Useful if I ever get a Banette and figure out how these Mege-Evolutions work as well as a Pickaxe to replace Rock Smash. ...So it's just Dive to be replaced. And I have an idea where that is.
I am, infuriating as it is, still blocked off the summit, so no Groudon(presumed).
Next, I went to Route 316, the cave that requires Dive to pass to the Mysterious Cave. Instead of an item to replace Dive, I found a Delta.
I'm gonna say... Psychic?
Oh, a Fairy. No wonder it was living in a cave. That might be useful against Dad later on.
I suppose the Dive-replacer will probably be found in the area past Maggiore City.
But since I came through here, I might as well hit Victory Road again. I know there are three legendaries here.
Near the entrance to the Ice section, I find what is most certainly Regirock's lair.
I needed to use Strength and Rock Smash to get through.
First attempt at this, I went through nearly my entire stock of balls(over 40 in all) before it struggled itself to death.
Second attempt, about 10 Ultra Balls, a Heavy Ball, before finally a Level Ball worked.
Two questions: First, are different status effects better than others at catching Pokémon? The first try, Regirock was paralyzed, the second time it was asleep. Second, what's the formula for the Level Ball, and at what point does it become better than an Ultra Ball?
Anyways, back to the Regis. On the way out from the Rocky Cavern, I meet this.
It was Lv.89, but I found it in a spot that's accessible without Rock Climb(just above the climbing rocks that lead to Regirock's chamber, and while surfing at that). That would have been bad if I found it when I last came through here.
After taking awhile to figure out the ice-skating puzzle again, I enter the Icy Cavern. It's layout is exactly the same as the Rocky Cavern.
This one was easier, just about 5 Level Balls.
The Rusty Cavern. Same layout as before.
Just two Level Balls for this one.
That's all for the three Regis, although I can only wonder how I'll find Regigas.
I suppose I should end this here as well, since there aren't any Rock Climb spots I can think of that haven't been explored yet.
I guess that's all for this update for now.
