Having left the Olympus Base a smoking ruin, and discovering that I have a severe allergy to being a ninja-ghost, it's finally time to put a stop to Zeus' plans to capture Victini and Divaevus, preferably by capturing them for myself.
But first, I have to explore the watery areas of Route 310 that I missed before. This shack looks interesting. That item ball had TM11 Sunny Day.
Just a Snorlax.
They usually wake up when they're hungry... Do Snorlax eat meat?
"Delta" Snorlax?
I am confused about this.
Anyway, back to Treader Town.
I swapped Butterfree out for Drillbur. I need a Ground-type for later, especially since I need something to fight Electric- and Fire-types.
Here's the entrance to Mt. Press.
And inside. I thought it would be a bit more volcanic at first, but that's because I was thinking of Mt. Chimney.
The nearby Hiker mentions that Fly cannot be used to get off the mountain(which is wrong, it can). Then his Graveler Selfdestructed on Drillbur and Victreebel learned Solar Beam. I got rid of Acid, though I kinda wish I hadn't. Oh well, I've got a TM for Acid.
The next Hiker says there are two legendaries here. I'm assuming Victini and Groudon. His Omastar manages to take out Victreebel while charging Solar Beam, because it woke after one turn from Spore, and sped itself up with AncientPower. And then Drillbur got one-shotted by another goddamn Graveler using Selfdestruct.
I take out my frustration about that by catching this.
A short walk through the cave, I come outside.
After taking down the next trainer, Drillbur gained several levels and...
The only downside is that it became part Steel-type, reducing it's effectiveness against Fire. But I'm sure that won't be a problem if I take out any Fire-types first with Earthquake and Rock Slide.
A few more trainers up the path, one of whom was a kid who mentioned that Jake gave him some swag. I guess that means I'll be dealing with him soon, too.
The path has different wild Pokémon than the cave, of course.
In Gen VI, that's supposed to be a Steel/Fairy-type.
If I recall, this one is pretty rare, but fairly useless.
There only seems to be two species outside(Mawille and Chimecho) and two inside(Krokorok and Scraggy), so I should move on.
I may have been wrong about that, since double encounter had a Krokorok and one of these.
Interesting, I wonder if it's the same civilization that built the four Regis.
After taking yet another trip back to town to heal up, I realize I have enough money to buy enough Coins to buy Dratini.
I may have to train this up at some point.
Back to the mountain. I think I'm close to the top where Zeus is waiting for Victini.
Also waiting for me were new Pokémon.
It seems to me that this ancient civilization was wiped out by the Pokémon they created. If that's the case, let's melt this thing down because I think bronze may be worth some money.
I found a beehive near the top. Examining it causes an encounter with one of these.
It seems as though my way to the top is blocked by the need for Rock Climb.
Back inside the cave, then.
A boulder blocked my path, so I quickly taught Strength to Excadrill.
An underground lake. I've noticed not every shore tile is coded to use Surf from.
Oddly, fishing yields nothing from this lake, but wild encounters still happen.
Th lake happened to be a dead-end, with a waterfall blocking further progress. Hmmm, now I don't know where to go next.
Having looked for quite some time for a way forward, I cannot find any HM for either Rock Climb or Waterfall. This happened to me in the Gen II games, where I forgot where Waterfall was. I'll do the same thing here that I did there, grab a Pokémon that learns Waterfall naturally: Goldeen. I take Goldeen out of the box to replace Excadrill and begin training her.
One of the places I take her was the dungeon under the Secret Base, where I catch...
Let's kill it and steal its gold.
I go through about 8 floors of the dungeon before being unceremoniously returned to the entrance. Boring.
Like other Pokémon I had to intensely train in a short time, it's not surprising this happens to Goldeen.
However, I want her to learn Waterfall sooner rather than later, so...
A few more levels of blocking her evolution, and she learned Waterfall. For some reason, I blocked her evolution at that level too, even though there was no reason to.
After that, I just head back to the PC to exchange Helioptile for Excadrill because he knows Strength(I forgot that boulder was there).
Oh good, I thought for a second there I wasn't going to be able to use it.
Progress!
Past some trainers, another waterfall, and a conveniently placed Nurse Joy(whom I only noticed just after using most of my medicine stockpile >_<), I come outside again. Immediately, I catch this.
She tried to heal my team before capture. How nice.
"Heaven's Walkway". Doesn't sound like a place I need to worry about the main villains getting into.
The first level up after learning Waterfall, I let her evolve into Seaking.
After that, I found some keys.
Oi! Oioioioioi! Why's that thing a Fairy-type? I thought this game didn't use the Fairy-type?
Back inside again. How much longer does this place go on?
After taking down some stuck-up bitch of a Beauty, I find TM64 Explosion. Yay for high explosives, I guess.
This section of Mt. Press seems to only have goddamned Golbats.
Might as well catch one.
Outside again. And the cave still had more bits to it.
Okay, so the last cave bit wasn't much, just a Hiker who may or may not have been George Mallory's zombified corpse. A shotgun to the head, just to make sure.
This area must be the designated Ice-type area.
It's so abominable.
Honestly though, they should call this Mt. Attrition. The snow has a constant Hail effect, and the local Pokémon are quite damaging. Had to Fly back to town to restock on Potions, Balls, and Max Repels. Luckily I checked my money first and had enough from fighting the trainers here to cover the cost, or else I would have spent an hour mining to grind cash.
Close to the end of this gauntlet, I find an odd stone. Any bets that this is Regice? -_o
Just before the I reach a cave entrance at the end, my Max Repel wears off.
Now this one is a pure Ice-type that evolves into something just absolutely creepy.
Finally, so close to the end.
Dammit. At least there are Olympus Grunts around. Still back to town for more medicines and Repels. Plus, the team is low on PP.
On the way back, because I forgot I had Seaking, who is underleveled, up front, meaning I encounter this.
Huh, I have an Odd Keystone. Several, actually. They sell pretty well.
By the way, if Sableye is famous for not having a weakness(besides Fairy), shouldn't Spiritomb be famous as well? Maybe Spiritomb is not as common.
Anyway, back to beating up Olympus.
You'd be surprised how much the local townspeople will tell you, especially if you're asking about a group that's pretty much universally hated.
He wasn't hard, Togetic, Medicham, and Slowking. The rest are just as weak, many with Pokémon weaker than the local wildlife. Two of them did have an Absol, though. I wonder if that wasn't a portent of doom?
Clearing an absurdly long string of Grunts, I find that Team Olympus brought a medic with them. I wonder if she's being held hostage. Rescuing her would be the best course of action; I need healing bad.
"I'll let the bosses handle you."Best. Rescue. Ever.
Now, to deal with their leaders.
Oh yay, I have deal with these two at the same time.
"We've lost to that kid multiple times already."I'm curious to see what your logic is based on.
Apparently, their logic is based on "We'll try harder." Cute.
The noticed me faster this time. Maybe they are improving.
If I have to team up with Jake, I'm going bury my face so deep in Victreebel's mouth and inhale so much Spore that I'll probably end up back in Athena's prison cell again somehow.
Victreebel, open up.
Jake, please get out from under Victreebel. I need to inhale a fatal amount of plant/fungal spores to erase the thought of you doing anything with my mom. Victreebel, when I'm dead, eat my corpse so I can't be resurrected to remember that. Then kill Jake when you're done.
So have I. Not that great of an accomplishment.
Weakening us won't do much when there's a Nurse Joy about 15 steps away.
Right, no healing then.
Dammit Victreebel, where's that Spore already?!
Come on Jake, don't crap out now.
The disturbing picture of Ninetales' nose up Stantler's ass aside, we probably shouldn't both be using Grass-type against Ninetales. Then again, Ninetales has Drought, which causes Sunny weather, meaning I can fire off Solar Beams without charging.
Sceptile went down to a first-turn Flamethrower, but not before his Leaf Blade and my Solar Beam hit Stantler. I forgot that Victreebel has Chlorophyll.
Scrafty replaced Sceptile. Victreebel hit Ninetales with Spore, but got hit by Stantler's Zen Headbutt. Scraggy took down Stantler, and Artemis sent out Gallade.
Gallade was promptly Spored, and ganged up on by Victreebel and Scraggy. When he went down, Artemis sent out Lunatone. One-shotted with Solar Beam, and replaced with Espeon. Unfortunately, Ninetales woke up and torched Victreebel.
I sent out Zoroark(disguised as Magmortar, huh) to deal with Espeon, but Scraggy got it first.
It might seem unfair that Jake and I are ganging up on the girl, but hey, she's the one who thought she could win. Plus, I think last time me and Morgan ganged up on Apollo first.
Artemis' last Pokémon is Xatu. Taken out with one Night Slash, putting Artemis out of the fight.
Ninetales is finally out via Hi Jump Kick. Somehow, Scraggy used it again, missed, and knocked himself out. I don't know how that happened. Hi Jump Kick doesn't multi-hit does it?
Jake sent out Lairon. Probably not the best choice against Rapidash. Sadly, it was Zoroark that was taken out by one hit from Fire Blitz. Lairon takes revenge with Iron Tail.
Look, there's a 50/50 chance Larvesta will attack Lairon, so...
Which it did, with X-Scissor for some dumb reason.
Last up, Solrock. Seaking was taken out with Psychic. I sent out Excadrill to finish this up.
Weren't you supposed to just soften us up? ...Which they did. They took out half my team...
"they've got!
We will take you to our leader now. Only one of you, however, can descend the Lava Mine down to the core of the mountain, Volcano Core."Oh hey, I was right, it was a volcano.
I assume Jake said that.
"He wants to deal with you himself."Can I heal up first?
Actually, I can. Heh.
By the way, the left path is supposed to be the mountain summit, but I'm not allowed.
However, since this update is dragging along far enough, I'll deal with Zeus tomorrow. Don't worry, it will be an epic battle.
