The dock staff are completely flabbergasted by this, meaning the chaos will have it take a while for ships to be sent out. The only opposition, a small sailboat with soldiers taking potshots with muskets in it. Thanks to the hilarious inadequacy of musketry against something more than 50 feet away, the boat is literally steamrolled by your ship. "Merry Christmas", a nearby sailor one-lines as he flicks a cigar onto the sailboat's wreckage.

EXPLANATION OF THE STATS (PLEASE READ):

December 25, 1765 The date.

Half-beard
Health: yes Half-Beard's medical condition.
Arms: yes and a rifle Half-Beard's guns and swords (plus bad jokes about synonyms)

Nameless ship
Condition: Great How damaged the ship is
Cannons: 10 How many active guns the ship has(equally divided amongst sides)
Gunpowder: Full supply How much gunpowder you have (determines how much you can fire cannons)
Medicine: Good The ship's medicine stores, people will get sick and injured, this will determine your ability to help them

Crew
Arms: Everyone is armed How well armed your pirates are.
Ammunition: just enough to pull this off How much your pirates can fire their guns.
Number: 29 self explanatory
Morale: Very high The worse this is, the more likely your men are to stage a mutiny.

A rule for myself: Anything I make Half-Beard do without anyone suggesting it will have any negative consequences.

The ship area in the stats is going to change to "fleet" once we get more ships.

Why is his health "yes" and not a number or some kind of descriptive word?

We might do a bit of... skulduggery? Once we get to the shipping lanes, we could pretend to have wrecked our sails or something, and send up signals for help, if we know any. Also, I don't know if this will be helpful or feasible, but we ought to change our looks, by slapping some paint and doing all we can to not look like a ship that was known to be stolen. We might try to hide our gun ports as well. Also, +1 to JackOSpades' suggestion.

Apparently "number" wasn't self explanatory(oops), it's the number of guys we have in our crew.

You go below deck as the ship is sailing out. The maps are conveniently spread out on the previous captain's desk, and you see that this ship was supposed to travel between England, Africa, and the Caribbean before it belonged to pirates. Also, the explosions and yelling outside seem to mean there is a fight going on. On closer inspection, the attacker appears to be a small ship crewed by about 15 people. They are trying to pull up along your ship to board. What now?

Yar, it seems to me that they've mistook us for someone they can take. We've got them in numbers, but that be no excuse for unseemly conduct, so let's edge away from the other ship and blast them to little, un-threatening bits with our cannons.

Also, as we've taken a cargo ship we ought to see if it was, and hopefully still is, carrying any cargo worth the name of cargo, which we could sell somewhere down the road, or perhaps somewhere down the sea-lane.

When your ship is edging away, you get a few shots off on them, causing 3 confirmed deaths before they catch up because they are small and fast and you are not. They board with all the men they could spare but the boarding party retreats, the better part of them are dead. You count six bodies and an immoblized soldier. 3 men of yours have been wounded. It will be a while before the enemy ship can do anything because of its severe understaffing. Meanwhile, the cabin boy you sent down to take an inventory of cargo reports nothing down there except rows of shelves about six feet long. What do you do now?

Now that they've paid us a visit and found out about our particular brand of "hospitality", we'd better do the same for them. Lay them aboard and take their ship! Afterward, we should apply some real piratey "persuasion" to the wounded guy they left aboard our ship and find out who they were and who they were working for.

we should 'greet' our kin in the way customary to our people, with crossed swords and gunfire.
cause these are ether some cheeky pirates who've set up right outside the port (not a bad Idea if there be no military presence to chase them off) or those dock workers are far more persistent than anyone would have a right to expect.

I could have sworn that's exactly what I said 29 was, seriously does no one speak pirate? oh well GM confirmation is always good, at least I know I was right. although it would have been hilarious if it had been something besides how many pirates we had, like a team number, or a tattoo, or how long we had til our number was up.
