Amelia opened the stable door and was alerted to the sudden noise of a purple mole being found in its den.

"I wondered where you'd go, Sadie."

Out of all the locations, she was glad the stables was picked.

"I'm glad we did not pick the local chapel to hide in. That would've carried a lot of double meanings."

Pelageya reeeached out and poked Sadie.
:"Hahaaaa, I'm the wiiinnneeerrr~"

[SeriousConcentrate]

"I guess?"

Her vision was still swimming as she turned to Amelia.

"Chapel? What?"

[Tiruin]

"Chapel? What?"

"!!!-Ah...I-I was thinking out loud! Well-I meant that as in it looked like a chapel anyway. Just a spare thought running here and there."

"There's hay on your hat."

[SeriousConcentrate]

Sadie plucked hay out of her hat, looking confused.

"Right? Um. I guess I outran Vito at least."

~~Outside the fortress proper~~
~~Cutscene 2 begins~~
Suddenly, a large number of horsemen appear, all wearing the crest of Vastus. Their leader, a younger-looking man looks at the fortress the small army stands before.
"Yes, this looks to be the place. Men, charge in, and capture as many of them as you can."
He then quickly produces a small item from a pocket - a small orb, crackling with magic underneath it's surface. The man grips the orb for a moment, and it crackles and produces a loud noise, before stopping.
The horsemen charge inside, their numbers  easily being twice of the remaining forces, if not more so.
"Soldiers of Brell, surrender or die before the might of Vastus!"

"Aaaand, I think that might be my queue to leave. Sorry Gandus, you seem like an interesting guy, but... There's no way our injured and depleted group can stand against these guys. You'd be best served getting the rest of the group we fought with earlier and getting out of here. There's uh... There's a passage out. Not many people know about it probably. Otherwise it'd be blocked up. It's in the armory. I'll wait there for a little bit but... If you're coming, don't take too long?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

Sadie, who had been about to leave the stables, immediately turned around and went right back inside.

"So, uh, we're kind of getting hit with a second wave of reinforcements. A LOT of reinforcements. Cavalry from the looks of things. What should we do about it?"

[Tiruin]

Amelia sighed in response.

Then, she hit Sadie across the back in a playful tap.

"Bet you can't race me back to the fortress! Call out for Vito, too!"

[Powder Miner]

Pelageya peeked out.
:"Hhhhhhoh shit. That's a TON of 'em."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"I know. You guys think we should fall back, go for the nearest allied base and let 'em know what's going on over here? Because I don't think the three or four of us are going to be enough to do anything about this group."

[Powder Miner]

:"Probably not, yeah. Can we catch a break?"

[Lucus Casius]

"Already here, signorina."

He gives a rueful sigh as he steps out of the woodwork, dropping a pebble.  Likely he'd been taking aim to knock the hat off Sadie's head.  Ah well.

"It seems we must postpone dessert, no?"

"Perhaps until we find somewhere safe, yes.  With less men and their mules attempting to stab us."

[Tiruin]

Amelia waved her hands, and her spear, in front of the others with a very exasperated expression given that her playful note wasn't...noticed much.

"To the fort, everyone! If my guesses are right, then the Brellian architects who designed the fortress always made a backdoor in case the area was overrun--such as the culverts or through the sewage. Let's talk while we're running there too, please? "Now would be a good time to move!"
