Since we can play things in face-up defense mode, I want to play a Karakuri deck now. :p

This is GX. You could always summon things in face-up Defence mode, because that's how it worked in the anime.

Wasn't in the OP. We're not using anime only cards or anime rulings, so why would we thinknyou could play things in face-up defense mode? Only reason to is to get an effect from an effect monster anyway.

Is it considered normal summoning a monster if it's in defense mode?

So, I know we don't want to pre-set the results or anything, but if I get a dramatic victory sequence, I'd rather it not be stopped by something silly like trap hole.
