New interview with Toady
« on: June 07, 2014, 07:07:13 am »

I found an interview with Toady that I haven't seen posted before. It mostly focuses on game development and games as art. I recommend checking it out, it's very interesting.

You can watch the video version or just listen to the audio podcast. Enjoy!

I wonder if the game has become odd.

The glorious beard is no more :'(

I know from experience how awesome it feels to be rid of it though (even if I've never had one quite as magnificent) :P

Then again it might have been gone for quite a while, since it's not all that frequent to see pics or videos.

Just finished watching. Great interview with many different and interesting topics of discussion and new insights. 5/5 plump helmets for sure ^^

The DF-related stuff was all things Toady's said before over the years, but I found it interesting that he's up during the day now - and he looked to be in better shape too.

The glorious beard is no more :'(
I think he only wears the beard for major public appearances, and remains in spitting distance of cleanshaven for more routine things like this and, presumably, his every day life. Which makes sense, because an impressive beard might seem befitting of a man who's fame is based on dwarves but beards of any notable length are really just a nuisance if you have modern conveniences like central heating anyway.

I like that toady always looks different in interviews, at least I feel he's as undecided as I am about facial hair.  Nice interview, good questions from the interviewer made this feel more cohesive than other interviews, possibly.  And another reference to the space game I'm waiting for!  Am looking forward to the next DF Talk more now... I'm feeling nostalgic for discussion on the specifics of DF since the last DF Talk was quite a whole back now.  Yeah... Toady has mentioned a few times now about how to broach other projects and I can understand the hesitation... Personally I'd be cool hearing about that stuff whenever but maybe nearer DF 1.0 would be better?  I'd be curious to know if anyone has any strong feelings one way or the other on Bay12 doing other games...  /mindblot

Applegren may have been a little late in saying so but it was a great find as the thread did exist before the entry by about 12 hours.
