She notices a small clipboard on Alucard's desk, and a broken glass container about the blob, supposedly called a 'Morphling'.

Ashley reads the clipboard.
"A Morphling, huh?"

The morphling is intellectually weak. It is, however, remarkable in the since that it is a blob of animated mercury, perhaps from animation magic or from a spirit. The mercury is elementally pure and has been confirmed to be mercury from the conclusions of multiple freezing, reactivity, and electromagnetic testing. When frozen, the morphling cannot move, and can react with other elements to form inorganic compounds which the morphling has partial control of.
When split, it forms two separate morphlings with autonomous control of their respective components, each intellectually weaker than the last. Perhaps a more powerful individual of this species could pose intellectual though, or perhaps even speech?
