Dalia shrugs once more, "It was nothing special. Ranil was kinda creepy, not the drawing. And it's not like you don't see me everyday."

Ashley goes with Alucard to make the gate.

Alucard nods.
 "Well, first, where do we want it?"

"Eh. Any thoughts on this city or the people it in? CORE really, really doesn't like them, since they failed to uplift humanity or something."

Dalia sends a light kick towards Kaiser's shin as she likes to do, "Weren't you paying attention? I spent the entire time in a park, not running around the city and talking with everyone so how am I supposed to know anything about them? It was a really nice park, but... That doesn't really tell me anything about this place. Besides that they like nature or something." After a couple of moments something clicks in her mind and she asks, frowning, "Uplift?"

"What, you didn't notice anything else? At all?

Uh, make better, improve. Instead of taking over the world, they hid themselves away ages ago. To be honest, the world would probably have been a better place if they did."

[USEC_OFFICER]

"No... If I did I would have told you already. And what about you? Did you learn anything?" Dalia asks to thrust the focus of the conversation onto Kaiser and deflect it away from her. "I already know what uplifting is, kinda sorta. I just don't see how we'd be better off if they took over the world or something. These people don't seem all advanced to me."

"They were very powerful when they were still on Earth, by comparison to everyone else. These days? Not so much. One well placed dirty bomb and their society would probably collapse.

I learned that they have a shitton of exotic materials, and that they'll buy gold at a decent rate. Setting up a trading post with an embassy would be very profitable, too."

"Oh. I see. They had this giant lead and did nothing with it? That's kinda stupid... Also I thought that we were here to solve a murder or something, not set up shop. Aren't you a millionaire already? What would you do with more money?"

"I can think of a lot of things I can do with more money. Why the hell are we solving a murder, anyway? Our primary skill is attracting trouble, and then beating the shit out of said trouble. Our secondary skill is apparently attracting randoms."

[USEC_OFFICER]

"Uhuh. Like what? What could you do with more money that you couldn't already do now? And I don't know why we're here either. I didn't really want to come, but everyone else was going and I didn't want to let them down either. So... Here I am."

"Betcha we'll end up fighting something.

I can buy more expensive things. Might even start up a research and intelligence group to bring us a lot more intel, instead of either wandering around in the dark or going off the word of others."

[USEC_OFFICER]

"Probably. I wouldn't be surprised if we did. Stuff always tends to happen when we're around." Dalia thinks for a couple moments about Kaiser's suggestion and then shrugs. "I guess that makes sense, or at least I can't think of anything better to buy. Except maybe a bunch of little things for the Nomad. Or a cookie factory," she teases, cracking a little smile. It's the first time she's smiled in a while, and given her unkempt appearance and general mood it really stands out.

"I don't - haven't... I-I c-can't eat th-that many c-cookies!" Kaiser stutters, flushed.
