Bartimaeus examines the barrier magic or wards keeping him out.
"A champion? A champion of the darkness? Who?"

"A sweet young girl by the name of Hodum Sulsa. Before the main trials, I sought to thin the herd of applicants, telling them I would make some tea. By the time I was back, I wanted them to have reduced their numbers by half, however they so chose to. By the time I returned, only she was left standing and the trials obsolete."

 "'Sweet' sounds like an overstatement..."

The woman blinked,
"That will take quite a while, I don't have that kind of load on hand"

By examining the barrier magic Bartimaeus could tell it was very competent and complex, it would be very difficult to get through and the kind of magic to brute force it would probably alert most magic users anywhere in the nearby area.

Ranil finally finished his drawing, he smiled slightly as he studied it then he showed it to Dalia. It was obvious from the drawing that he was very skilled, the Dalia that looked back at her was almost perfect and seemed to actually capture her emotions at the time as well. "What do you think?"

Bartimaeus leaves the temple. Are there any religious or political conflicts in this world?

[Kansa]

At the moment you don't know much, Titus said the high priest of this temple was an upstart but apart from that he didn't mention anything about religion conflicts. The data that Titus provided mentioned something about some people not being happy about how the murdered princes were planning to do things, this is really all you know.

Icarus continued the shopping, now getting Alice something exotic to eat.

Dalia examines the drawing for several seconds, her brows furrowed as she scrutinizes it. "I dunno. I think that I look better than that, but you did do a pretty good job," Dalia modestly declares. "Does this mean that you're done now?"

After getting the money for the dress from a slightly exasperated Titus, the couple searched the city for a place to eat. Eventually Icarus found a place that she guessed Alice would like, it was a small cosy place on the seafront which was modestly busy but not packed. They were quickly able to find a table and Alice smiled as she sat down.
"Thank you"

Ranil smiled,
"Yes I am." he rose to his feet "Thank you again for letting me draw you."

Dalia shrugs, "I didn't do anything. You're the one who made the drawing."

((werent the more than just Icarus, Bartimaeus and dalia on this trip to do stuff? And Barti sure gave up quickly))

"Oh and Titus? Besides paying for us, I appear to already have found some information. but to use it to full worth, can you perhaps go through old letters or whatever contacts you have, to aquire stuff hand written by the king, the head spy, the high priests, and basicaly every suspect? Also, by their most trusted, private secretaries, if they have any."

((Well, Tobias is being silent for obvious reasons. And Linda is talking to Seer dood.))
Linda sighs. She begins walking towards the palace.
"You ready to leave, Alucard?"

Ranil nodded,
"Still thank you." he gave a quick look around "I better be going but I'm sure we'll see each other again soon enough."

Titus let out a small sigh but nodded,
"I can do that, come up to the palace after you eat though. I need to introduce you to my father."

Linda walked up towards the palace, it was even more impressive up close. Its gate towered over most of the nearby structures and was guarded by two people dressed in shining silver armour, at first it looked like it was going to be difficult to get past them but Elliot came to the rescue. Talking quickly he managed to get the guards to open the gate to the palace and led the sniper into the grounds.
"Sorry about that."

"Uhuh," Dalia replies, doubting that they'll see each other again. It was just a chance meeting in a public space, so what are the odds that they'll bump into each other sometime in the future? Unless he was going to show up at that ball Dalia was supposed to appear at. Suddenly remembering all about it, Dalia pulls out her phone and checks to see how much time is left for her to goof around, even if nobody told her when the ball was going to be held. Her desire to not let everybody down by not being there was just slightly stronger than her desire to not show up. Unfortunately.

The ball is actually tomorrow, you do remember Titus asking everyone to come up to the palace later though.
