"Fine, then I must insist that you return that map to Prince Tobias this instant."

The guard attempts to get in the way of Bartimaeus, but he's too slow! Barti has made it into the wilderness, but something has drastically changed for himself... The snow has disappeared, and so has the world around himself. The world that he saw. Instead, it is replaced by a mess of hallucinations and colorful swirls spinning past even the most imaginable speed. It warps and stretches, then condenses. Bartimaeus would feel dizzy, tired, confused, happy, sad, and most importantly of all... lost. Never has he once felt this lost in his entire existence. A path appears within his vision that is flashing different colors every moment, as if it were a rave of some sort. It winds, winds and winds. Infinitely does so, it seems. A white ball of light appeared farther down the path after what seemed like an eternity. What do you do?

"He could easily be wrong," Hakim says. After a few moments of contemplation he adds, "But I may be worrying too much. And it doesn't matter since I'm just passing through here. It's not my problem anymore."

"That is true. I'll see if I can't get you into some Clearance 2 service rather than your lower clearance."

Bartimaeus follows the light.

"Antimagic fields, only white-listed mages can use magic here, which is about the same as being allowed to carry a weapon, not brandish it about, you don't see me transforming in public do you?  It tends to frighten most people beyond reason"

Garrett takes off the ring, and forms an ice crystal in his hand.

"These fields are mostly in possession of the military and the royalty.

By the way, how goes the fight against the Dark Ones?"

"most major cities have the fields, also Stalemate at the moment, neither side accomplished anything

As the distance from the light gets smaller, Bartimæus is actually feeling more... happy? That's odd. Right as he gets within a couple feet of the orb of light, a sharp and sudden pain strikes his forehead. His vision is lost for a few minutes, before returning. A small grey, metallic crow is stands ontop of the stomach of the now fallen Bartimæus. It opens its jaw, and a loud, higher pitched voice rings out.
*Bzzzzt*... What are you... You doing wandering out... out like that, traveler? *Bzzzzt*

[USEC_OFFICER]

"That is true. I'll see if I can't get you into some Clearance 2 service rather than your lower clearance."

Hakim shakes his head, "It's alright. I'm already busy with the work I do and I don't think that getting Clearance 2 would change anything for me. But thanks for the offer."

"This is a war that will take decades. They won't raise their banners overnight, and most aren't stupid enough to agitate us instead of building their armies in the shadows."

"You'd be back to work in a few days with the Clearance 2 medical staff. That's all I'm offering."

Hakim chuckles, "It's going to take longer than that. It takes a lot of surgery to put a port into someone, and you can't expect their body to recover immediately. Plus they'll have to make custom parts to fit in with my skeletal structure and who knows what else. I'll also have to go through testing to make sure that it's attached properly and won't cause any problems later on. I'd be surprised if it took only a month for me to get back into action."

[Projeck37]

"What, you're clearance 7? 8? No wonder why it'd take that long. Trust me on the Clearance 2."

[USEC_OFFICER]

"No, it's fine. I don't need the extra clearance. But thanks for offering," Hakim says firmly.

"Suit yourself."
Linda shrugs, not really knowing why he wouldn't just accept some of the best medical care on Earth. She ponders.
"Why not, if you don't mind me asking."
