"Look, maybe you should see him," Bartimaeus says as a mirror appears in front of Ashley's face. It shows Alucard, hunched forward, over his desk experimenting with something unknown. To cope with such a loss, he has resorted to routine.
"I don't know about you, but I sense his depression well. He found his daughter, and now he lost her. He has nobody, just his books and his experiments."

"Was planning on it since I felt him leave the area. This conversation is just delaying me if anything."

"Then go, damn. I orignally came here to scold Galio before I sensed you."

Ashley teleports into Alucard's workshop, using up all of her energy she had recovered to do so. She's sitting on an empty space made on the counter.
"You really don't know how to communicate with me, do you?"

He blankly stares at the ground, a frown set on his stoic face. After a long while, he simply shakes his head.

Ashley sighs.
"Look... It's just hard for her, that's all. Not seeing her father for 20 years isn't kind of hard to go through. It's like... me whenever I had to raise Nodoka. I was away from you all for 10 whole years before I finally got back. And it was kinda hard for me, even then. She may not accept you first thing... but give her time, and enough reason, and I see no reason as to why she wouldn't accept you."

"She already left... it's over... she wants to be with Anthony instead."
Alucard slowly slumps to the ground.

"Stockholm Syndrome. She doesn't truly know what she wants."

"Yes, she does... she wants to be with Anthony.. A-And.. who am I to s-stop her..?"

Meanwhile, it seems magical advances into modern life already managed to reach the postal services, as tiny portals drop letters from MPS (magical post service) in front off Kyle, Tobias, Hilda, Alucard, Stella, Bartimaeus, Winry, Dalia, Ashley, Sen, Kaiser, Garret, Walpurga, Isaac, Spensir and...that was it, I guess?

It contains wedding invitation for Alice and Icarus, to be happening at a resort at the zedeebee hotsprings.

"Eh... Not really. You get a bunch of vacations and breaks and stuff. It's not like you're constantly busy with school or anything like that. Yeah, it's difficult and annoying, but you still get time to do junk in your free time."

"That doesn't mean she can just shove you out of her life because you want to be a part of it. Did you tell her it was Anthony's fault in the first place?"
