Bartimaeus turns into Ashley once more, and reenacts a certain quote he remembers with vividness.

"You wouldn't say the same if your greatest fear killed someone you loved dearly, and suddenly appeared in front of you... a-after viewing a vision of that very fear killing more loved ones, relentlessly... and she already knows about my new power... but how..." Ashley trembles.

She changes back, letting it sink in a moment before speaking.
 "It wasn't the Nightmare Labyrinth that instilled that fear, becuase you always feared her."

"The Nightmare Labyrinth heightens all fear senses and makes fear from nothing... your point is moot."

The room grows foggy as Bartimaeus changes into the massive form of Selkihm staring down at her; a figure of Araceli appears next to him, then the Bewitcher, then Osmodius, all juxtaposed around her.
"The Nightmare Labyrinth creates phantasms based on your greatest fear."
"You feared her, because you witnessed her as a phantasm produced from Selkihm's spell."
"And now you're scared."
"Scared of losing him and others because of her or anything else."
They surround her in the dense fog, staring at her.

"Yes, I am scared of losing those around me to the test of time, and to those I call my mortal enemies, but I am not afraid of her... My greatest fear is losing everyone I love."
Ashley draws Starwalker.

The others disappear with the fog, and Bartimaeus turns into Alucard.
 "You don't even know what that does, yet you are still tempted to use it?"
