The king sighed,
”You do not understand. I am the king so it is in my full authority to arrest him. Whether it is wise to do so at this time is another matter, the fact is that alone this evidence can be explained away simply as saying he was responsible by sending him on a dangerous mission. In most cases it wouldn't matter what excuses he gave, I could imprison him anyway. However this is not a simple case. Ranil is powerful in this city and has almost cult-like following after him I do not want to have to subject my people to the retribution by imprisoning him when it is not absolutely clear what he did.”
Titus blinked,
”Why would an angel of Salim kill these people?”
Karis winced slightly,
”That sounds like it must have hurt.”
Bernhardt followed the tracks, it was difficult though to make any sense of them. Most led back to the main hall but a few led deeper into the gardens and then worked their way back towards the ballroom. It was still difficult to tell who was who however, the tracks stopped at the ballroom and although he could predict the time of each set of footprints this information alone did not reveal much.
The questioning of Vierus finished, the high priest did still not look much better however. After looking around nervously he eventually headed back towards his temple. He seemed weary as he walked down the corridor to his rooms, obviously carrying some kind of great burden as he did so. His age finally showing in full force, he continued onwards though towards the room where Hilda and Icarus lay in wait for the priest.
