Sanure, I'm not going to debate what you've said because let's be honest here we've gone over this a million times before. So what I'm going to say is that you don't seem to understand how advantages are supposed to work. Yes Seras's regen can be beaten out with raw damage. Yes her dodge can be beaten with AoE attacks. Yes staying out of melee range negates her extra damage. But the problem is that an advantage is still an advantage even if it only works part of the time. So you still have to pay for it, either with a perk or an appropriate disadvantage, or else it isn't fair to the rest of us who are following character creation properly.

And we're not punishing you for playing something other than a human or robot. The problem is that you're using Seras's race as justification for giving her all of these abilities with no/minimal downsides to balance them out. And frankly that's bullshit. Which is why we're complaining about Seras.

FAKEEDIT:

Awkward at Day: Seras' self healing is reduced to 5 while in sunlight.
- what it says on the tin. She heals less and will take less turns to kill.

This is what I'm talking about. Nobody else regenerates 5 HP a turn, but you're trying to spin it into a disadvantage by saying that she usually regens 10 HP per turn. That's not a disadvantage, that's still an advantage over everyone else that Seras has. It's simply not as strong, which doesn't make it more acceptable.

Sap heart: Seras will actively try to protect an ally with her shadow essence taking half of the damage to herself. (increased damage if magical, silver, or blessed.)
-only applies to allies (meaning her friends) and tanks half the damage that would be dealt to them. So if Alice was hit with 40 magic damage, Seras would tank half of it allowing Alice to take only 20, Seras then takes 15 extra damage due to magical damage for a total of 35. considering how many people are in the team and Seras is already friends with Linda, Kyle, and Alucard to an awkward degree, 1 turn dead. Talk about a debuff.

That's... the most baffling debuff I've ever seen. Mostly because Seras is still immortal, and thus she turns into a kind of joke character, lasting for only a couple of rounds before she succumbs to all of the wounds inflicted on her. And then gets back up after the battle. It's... really confusing, honestly.

In other, less frustrating, topics of discussion, I'm wondering how to get characters/players integrated into my plots. Because right now it just seems like I can get 1~ character involved, and the rest are along for the ride. Any suggestions, guys? Or does getting people involved actually matter that much in the grand schemes?

The major request I have in the nerfing process is that you get rid of immortality, also as all of her abilties that aren't supernatural are passive it's probably best to move those up to perks too :p.

The fact that speed is really only used for two things though and that is dodging and going first it pretty much makes it apply all the time thanks to the other passive.

Another problem is by the fact that we don't have a map in most fights it's impossible to avoid melee in the first place.

Edit: Also to what USEC said

An idea to get people involved in plots is try to get someone involved in the plot attatched to members of the group, then it will sort of lead there naturally.

I know, but that seems a little... tacked-on to me. As if the plot is just sorta dangling there and not actually involved with everything else, just tenuously connected with the group through a single character. If that makes sense.

I'd make it where her immortality only applies when she's not in sunlight, and on top of that, she gets healed at 50% as effective while in daylight as well.

Let me put it this way:

Spoiler: Seras as a human (click to show/hide)

That is seras as a human. She has 1 perk, which she started with and has no abilities other than being in the hero class. That means that me trying to use her vampire race to justify her is not just true, but a point I am trying to make. Our current system tries to lop All characters into the "I am not an average human" category instead of actually diversifiying race into distinct categories.

Seras is a vampire and is more agile than a human. However, she takes damage in sunlight and can be dealt increased damage by magicla means, silver, and blessed items. She is weakened by garlic and holy water.

here's the catch: She isn't just a vampire, but a True Vampire sired by dracula, a psuedo immortal (he thinks immortal is a fake term anyways). She lacks the weakness to the sun, holy water is now considered a blessed weapon and deals damage, Garlic doesn't bother her and she takes a better increased damage than a normal vampire. She has a natural healing process due to her body being composed of Shadow Essence, which is considered the matter that makes up her soul and the souls she absorbs. Oh, and she can't increase her Hp or Mp unless she absorbs a soul, but her unnatural body isn't as powerful as Dracula's is and can only intake a soul once at each level up or practically a year ingame. So yeah, the phrase of her being a joke character isn't half way from the true, but I am being very serious with how she is set up.

Tl:dr
She isn't a human so stop treating her as such.

Also, we don't need a map to say "I move my character out of melee range." You just need to say it during your turn, and the GM generally notes it down.

And yes I do understand that perks are meant to be "advantages." However, here is the thing about the system we use: Perks are gained at level up and are typically a boon to the character. A player can start with a perk, but has to take a flaw as well. That means that any boons a character might have have to be gained from level up. That means a perk every 5 levels. Perks are meant to differentiate characters, but it doesn't. All it does is serve to make players be more active in plots, which to be frank isn't working and just about no one cares for leveling up. We have already lazed back into our strength in numbers bullshit mentality we had from the V2 thread.

Our characters are the same character with a different name. Were's the diversity? We have Dalia who can debuff an enemy. We also have Sen, and Ashley, and Kaiser, and Kyle, and Walpurga. We have Icarus who is great at dealing damage. We also have Kaiser, We have Kyle, we have Linda, we have Fredericka. We have Ashley who can use the void to teleport and deal massive damage. We have Alucard, we have Bartimaeus, we have Sen (by technicality due to being part demon and her magic being part void). Do you see what I'm getting at? The only thing different about the characters is the background for the characters and their names. We have 19 active characters and we could further reduce that to 6 people if we removed all duplicates of the first six. Amazing how that happened yes? Instead of having 19 unique characters we have 6 unique characters and 13 copycat characters. If you ask me, We need to revamp the character sheet as well as the level up system and magic system.

Anyways, Until the system gets revamped I am putting a hold on Seras.

To prove my point I'm going to list all magically unique active characters versus the non magically unique active characters:

Unique
Alice- Healing powers. Only person who uses true healing magic.
Kyle- Only person who uses wind magic and can make technological masterworks.
Stella- Literally the only dragon in the group.
Dalia- Only one to use True Curse magic.
Ashley- Only true voidwalker. Lore states the only current one as well.
Walpurga- The only person who uses telekinesis. And happens to be an Ex-nazi so bonus points.
Garret- An ice mage and dragon rider.
Linda- A sniper trained soldier who can boost her sniper damage. Also has unarmed abilities.
Isaac- Only demigod and user of projection based magic.

Non-unique
Sen: Demon who can use all types of magic so long as she has a book on it. If she only used paper magic, she would be unique
Winry- Expy of Kyle but at a range.
Hilda- Expy of Kyle but on self.
Icarus- Expy of Kyle in Power armor.
Kaiser- Expy of Kyle using nano mush.
Kaotaro- Expy of Kaiser if I read the sheet right.
Brannagh- Literally an Expy of Sen, but with runes instead of magic books.
Alucard- Expy of ashley.
Bartimaeus- Technically an expy of Ashley and Sen (since it can change it's magic signiture)

And that's only the active characters. We would have more unique characters and less expy of other characters if a few of our players weren't run off by some of the current players.

Now I'm not saying the character themselves aren't unique. We only have one demon character, two robotic characters, one dragon, a knight, two soldiers, a tony stark, a catgirl (thing), a vampire void user. a void walker, a void being, a nazi, two morphling assassins ( I'm looking at you Kaiser and Kaotaro :P) and various other unique characters. IT's only the powers that are copycat edition.

Sanure does have a point. Not a lot of the characters have unique powers.

Also, does anyone other than me care about the layar? Because I think that PN should be the one to further lore on them/have main deciding power on what they do. Also, Someone should get Tabella (the nerdy layar that never left and Kyle is friends with now) for the sake of having a semi-relevant Layar character.

Okay, You have a point there. Pluse he is the only person to use projection based magic so bonus points X3

@KJ, I care about the layars since Tabella :P But yeah, I vote you and PN for future layar lore. I can't play as Tabella since I have no clue what her personality is or what her powers are anymore.

Anyways, Until the system gets revamped I am putting a hold on Seras.

I was going to do a big rant about Seras, but fuck it. I'll wait until you actually start working on Seras again before I point out her flaws. More productive that way, I think.

IT's only the powers that are copycat edition.

Not really. Icarus has unique powers in that she's one of the few people who can buff themselves. Hilda gets to rearrange her stats around to suit the battle. Winry actually technomancies things instead of just making them by hand. Really, Ashley/Alucard/Bartimaeus are the only ones with similar powers, because they all work on Void and thus they kinda have to. You've confusing the forest for the trees here. People have similar powers mechanically, but they're not straight copy-pasted. They're blended, fiddled with, and a bunch of different things that makes them unique. So we've got overlap, but not enough for some characters to be completely interchangeable. Even Ashley and Alucard aren't the same due to teleportation/embargo shenanigans.

We have already lazed back into our strength in numbers bullshit mentality we had from the V2 thread.

Not exactly. The problem is that we've got too many active characters and not enough plots to spread them out. So of course everybody is going to try and jump into fights, since they want the exp and to actually play the game. The solution is very simple. Run more plots at the same time, and divide the group more often. It'll be complicated and confusing, but the alternative is the dogpile that we've seen a million times. 17 characters is just way too much for a single plot to handle. Or at least for the combat portions.

It depends how you do it really, it does have the risk of basically creating sort of a side plot with only a couple of characters if you do do it that way though I must admit. You can try to get the group more involved though by having the person in question bring calamity onto the group and put them all in a dangerous situation because of it and they hopefully won't just cast the member out if they like them enough :p.

That was what I was thinking about doing, but... It seems a bit cliche and overused to me, I suppose. I don't know. I might just be overly critical of myself. I'm pretty much working on a new plot idea now because of that... Which means no MOON PLOT. Sorry about that, guys. Maybe later.

Speaking of plots mine is next :), I'm not sure when you guys would like it to start though.

Well obviously the IC day needs to advance so that people can rest up and recover. After that it's up to you about when to start.

Also, does anyone other than me care about the layar? Because I think that PN should be the one to further lore on them/have main deciding power on what they do. Also, Someone should get Tabella (the nerdy layar that never left and Kyle is friends with now) for the sake of having a semi-relevant Layar character.

I care about them in the sense that they are something else I have to remember for this game. Otherwise I don't really have any strong opinions on them.

You have it backwards though USEC. Just because the powers look different doesn't mean they aren't the same. Icarus can boost her stats by expending mana? Hilda can too by reallocating hers. Kyle's power armor could overclock as shown in V2 by the use of his suits AI. All three are interchangible depending on situational circumstances.

Ashley and Alucard work pretty much the same way teleport wise since Ashley enters void exits void to teleport, Alucard merely bridges the space in creation to exit in creation via void. You still have to enter the void to exit the other side of a portal he makes.
