Well, her body can be destroyed without her core being destroyed. Her core is considered to have almost max MAG stat, but 0 defense, speed, strength, and resistance. Failsafe is to unleash massive magicks upon anything around her, disregarding whether it's a friend or foe or even if it's a threat.

I don't think that's a good idea.

Pretty sure Icarus is getting a new body after her plot anyways. Old one would best be purposed for Hilda's back up body if not a hugging pillow for Winry.

Well of course it's going to make a first target of whatever shoots at it.

Exactly, but it'd constantly send out pulses of magic that would completely obliterate anything coming at it

Except it acts last. Due to 0 speed. There is a one turn window to completely destroy it.

Yeah, unless an ally goes to get it as soon as possible. Hilda can only shift her stats around because of her body's voidmagicnanoalloy stuff. The core pretty much enters 'fuck everything up' mode, boosting it's magic to the point where it could even phase into the void if needed.
Basically it makes a logical calculation that if Hilda's body was destroyed, then whatever destroyed it could place out an extremely strong blast that would bypass her armor even if it was maxed out. So that's why it resolves to destroying the threat before it can act.

Here's how it is:

Hilda has a special attack that permakills her and fucks a boss sideways.

I don't care about the realism in this, I do care if I think the attack is mechanically overpowered.
