I'm going to be frank here. It isn't my problem if you'd be less into the game without your current character. It just isn't something I find as important as making sure everyone will have fun and stop arguing all the time.

It isn't my problem if you'd be less into the game with my current character. It is, often, new characters and new rules that cause these difficulties, and then only when an outside influence is also upsetting us.

I have an idea for a character that takes on elemental aspects with spells, full detail will require that I be back from work, not 45 minutes from leaving, additionally not sure about my ability to properly play two characters

The more I think about it, the more I like that idea. A few of the issues with this game stem all the way back to v1, where characters were being created based on the idea that humanity was at war, they were getting involved whether they like it or not, then compound it with v2's philosophy on emphasizing social interaction over combat, the result is that the current characters often do not wish to fight or lack solid motives for involvement in various plots upon moving into the more plot-heavy and certainly darker v3.

However, if these new characters were affiliated with something, such as say SERT, IRIS, etc. or just designed keeping in mind they needed a reason to be involved in the plots, they would certainly have a reason to fight and be quite proactive at it. Plus it would explain where they get their ammunition, more generic paraphernalia and whatnot.
