the fan does indeed not sit correctly - one of the plastic parts is busted. I have no idea how that could happen.

it's odd, the PC is so new that the interior is still entirely dust free (I am amazed, my cat is losing hair like crazy) and the fan is working just fine and sits in the correct place. Also today it rained, it's a whole lot less hot than the last days..

Well if it's not temperature, then you're boned. If you can't access the BIOS because it's corrupted/infected then the only other option I can think of is putting in a new motherboard and booting from that. Or contacting some professional IT help, and not just some random guy from the internet. _{Seriously though, if you can't access the BIOS then you can't do much without outside equipment/help. The BIOS boots up from its own ROM, so reinstalling the OS would do absolutely nothing to fix it.}

hmm, I will try and save my new PC with a donor from my old one...should not be so hard...just..changing some screws...

I maaaay entirely break both now, but hey, you will now soon enough, either by silence or by success message

edit: assuming I can indeed get the donor part out - remeber the problem with my old one in the first place was that the screws were shut so tightly I could not open it for dust removal..
