And Sen is a demon, after all...and a library one at that...*evil grin*
*Sanure begins to laugh maniacly at the partial irony this implies

Yes, lets go with a Library demon for now. She's more of a lawyer, but Library works too~~

With burning down your house... Seems vaguely appropiate in a weird way, actually.

damn, I thought Belkelel was strong, but it turns out she is new-game+ tier.

even with less basestats than Amazeroth, her loot, ability and perks synergize drasticaly. efficently, like a machine.

hwat.

I will note that flames from a machine body are not the same as fire magic. And... unless Belkelel suddenly got the ability to use fire magic, no damage.

I knew that you would argue that, but it is a shadow exposed to a light source that also doubles as a damage source. And it runs of Mag stat, but that is besides the point. The point is if fire can only damage them if it is magical fire, and not from flamethrowers, or only magical light (as opposed to laser rifles), the summons and Tobias are immune to any and all damage sources in this battle.

No.

This arguement also comes 4 turns too late, as it is the same flame that hit Tobias, but I heard no complaint then. You summoned the shadows knowing fully well there would be super effective damage incoming, and it is too late now to argue that your summons are immune to the battle entirely. Complete immunities are sort of difficult anyway, because it forces a GM to taylor each and every fight around it, else Tobias can easily solo-win every battle not designed to be able to hurt him.

On a side note, Tobias was immune to 6 out of 8 enemies in this battle, but he chose to go up against the one of them that could hurt him. He noticed that, and then proceeds to summon something with the same strengths and weaknesses as him, and yet things this would go otherwise? If he had summoned them on the last train to help with every unit but the 02, the summons would have completely annihilated all opposition, because besides the 02 and Belkelel, nothing could have hurt them. Sending them against the one that can is a tactical error.

I thought he was hit by Belkelel's plasma blade? I saw no earlier mention of a flamethrower. But, whatever, I'll trust your word.

I'm more annoyed that "Oh hey, you know those summons you spent several turns to spawn, and most of your HP? Yeah, they're pretty much wiped out in one turn. kthxbai."

Total immunities are a no-no. Very high resistances, yes, but total immunities are just bad ideas. If magical shadow can't be affected by anything but magical light, how come it can affect anything?

Plus, they need to be specific, not general. Instead of 'only hurt by such-and-such' like Superman and Kryptonite, it should be more like 'can't be hurt by what-not-and-various' like The Human Torch and Fire. Superhero examples yay.

There are general immunities, of course, but those are more like lack of weaknesses; Robots tend to be weak to EMPs, for example, while fleshies aren't. Faeries treat iron like the plague(death by iron poisoning is one of the most painful and terrible ways for them to die!), and are hurt by silver, and while they are 'immune' to conventional weaponry in the sense that stabbing one with a bronze spear won't end well for you, an artillery shell can still kill the weaker ones, and maim those who survive. Humans can be poisoned unless Bullshit Magical Healing X is in play. Sidenote: healing should really be more specific, otherwise it could easily backfire horribly. Trying to get rid of a parasitic infection? Don't use it on someone who's pregnant. Trying to repair a broken arm? Don't use it on someone with prostheses or bone implants.

Point is: Don't be invulnerable, be resistant. Don't  be Superman, be Batman.

Belkelel retreats the blade in her right arm, and instead protrudes a module from her left arm, a flame thrower.

"Close quarter combat manouver: Ifrit Blade."

Belkelel only ignites a tiny flame, then using strong magnetic fields, extends the plasma outward to form a blade of sheer heat and light. Her joints release a short jolt of light, as she puts her skill into overdrive, by 50%. With minimal movement, extending her arm and bending her knees a little, but lightning fast, she stabs at Tobias. [9] vs [4+10], unable to react in time, Tobias shadowy form is pierced by the shining blade, searing his innards [6] vs [10+5]*2 24 damage! At no point of time did Belkelel once turn her head to look at Tobias...

But that is beside the point.

Yes, I agree it is super annoying, and I was very hesitant to go through with the way the dice have fallen, but super effective damage is super effective damage. The electrical attacks from the players did their heavy numbers on the ICARUS units too, and the battle would look a whole lot different if it wasn't just Alice, who can not actually increase the spell tier of her electrical attack because it comes from an artifact (her huge mag would absolutely destroy the bots), but also Winry (both electrical attacks and technomancy would have been super effective), and Kyle (also super effective if sued for electricity, though very low mana), and if Sen didnt lose her magic beforehand. So it is only the offensively weakest one of the four that could have hit for super effective damage and destroyed the opposition easily.

Belkelel however is not Alice, she is a top-tier enemy with nearly endless offensive potential. When you face such an enemy and find that he hits you for super effective damage, you run. Tobias being alife is only due to the fact that I didn't make Belkelel use her overdrive on Tobias, else he would have been one-shotted. But I don't one-shot players. Summons however? They were strategicaly deployed in a very bad way, that is, against the only enemy that was actually stronger than them. And there was no reason for Belkelel to hold back anything, because their raw power, even if they take SE damage, was a threat to her. Look at how much mana she used to get rid of them. If she had to actually slowly wittle them down, using her mana en-masse to just avoid being hit by them for really big damage (her health pool is basicaly her weakness. She can't take much damage at all), she would run out of mana fast and die. Why would she do that?

Also, Batman isn't resistant to anything.

He's resistant to quite a lot of shit, actually. Just not immune.

For instance, the vacuum of space. Or getting killed permanently.

Also, I really wish Combat was more dynamic so that when I have someone sensible fight, say, Icarus, and Icarus declares her attack like that, they can be real smarmy directly afterwards and go "Oh, shit, thanks for calling out your attack! I totally wouldn't have seen it coming otherwise. Really saved my ass there."

Also is Belkelel summoning a Demon named Alucard, or the Alucard who's currently in Faerie, for which I have already declared Ashley cannot use her teleportation in because otherwise Plot would get fucked up, and you're trying to steal him out of there for seemingly random reasons which shouldn't actually be possible due to the way Faerie works(in case you haven't noticed, they're rather isolationist)?

Bartimaeus is summoning Alucard, I may have mixed up names, don't blame me, blame 11 hours of physical labor.

Dynamic combat in a forum game with many players is difficult, as it would extend combat length by 200%, PER PLAYER. You can do that on IRC, but requires people to be there, at the same time. It is a shame, yes, but the curse of the medium we play the game through
