I am not done with nerfing seras. I won't be for at least a... week tops. If anyone brings it up again, I probably won't do anything to the sheet for like a month. Give me a week to apply some nerfs and it should look better.

Sidenote: You keep refering to the character as OP while removing me as one of the biggest limiters she has. Yes, She gains like 2 stat points to her health or Mana. Two IF She absorbs a soul to give her the points. It is up to the current GM's desecration or mine to determine if she does. Most scenarios, That "perk" will probably be totally forgotten for a while. So she will probably just the normal 4 stat points at level up for long periods of time.

Next, Superhuman speed is not supposed to be under negative. Don't know how that happened.

Also, I am removing some of the pluses that she has. I kinda just stopped editing her sheet halfway through earlier today for various reason.

Also, Akroma, No offense to you, but because you keep on attacking and singling me out that I do not want your input on making my characters weaker while you keep assuming that I am trying to be unfair in how my character sheets look and play. Give me some time and my characters will actually be nerfed (and organized). Instead of criticing my characters pm me what you thing is op and a suggestion on fixing it. Do not pick a fight with me in the OOC because you 'dislike' my blatant expy of a vampire or how my first main character used to be able to deal over 800 damage just because you assumed that I have no self-control. That's just rude and disruptive to the actual nerfing.

tl:dr
Leave me alone about my characters for a week and shit will get done. I promise.

EDIT: Yes I realize how stupid sounding Superhuman speed is. That is getting fixed/removed.

@Kj, yes we do need to rework the level system.

Also, we need to define something while I'm thinking of it:
A normal human is 5 in all stats yes?
A magical human (which is people like Kyle, Garrett, Alice, etc) have 100 stat points, or 12.5 in all stats.
What would a non-human get? A Minotaur? A vampire? a werewolf? A fairy? A demon? You get the Idea I think.

Not all non-normal humans should get the same amount of points as a magical human does.. Input?

Okay, Kinda stuck:

I'm revamping(heh) The Sired by Dracula negative perk and the associated Soul Absorbtion ablitiy. I have two options:

1. Leave it as is but lower it to 1 stat point.
2. Change it so that Seras gains No stat points at level up, but she gets two familair slots at level up. This option also changes the soul absorbtion trait to put 2 stat points into one of the eight stats. That way she has to actively absorb souls to "level up"

You're confusing things here. Magical humans don't get 100 stat points. They get 5 in all stats, or most likely more in magic/mana if they've been training to use their magic. The 100 stat points are for PCs, not for species/humans/non-humans/whatever. So your average werewolf/vampire/demon/whatever would have less than 100 points divided among their stats. But a PC werewolf/vampire/demon/whatever? They would get 100 points. No more, no less. Unless they had a perk to give them more points, of course. But you know what I'm trying to say here. PCs start out with the same number of points regardless of who they are or what training they've undergone, and the only thing that changes that is whatever perks they take.

I'm revamping(heh) The Sired by Dracula negative perk and the associated Soul Absorbtion ablitiy. I have two options:

I'd go with Option 1, simply because it'll be less of a headache in the long run. The familiars and their associated abilities could easily spiral in complexity. And not in a good way.

In this stat-system, the stats a completely average human would have are set to 5. This is for reference when stating your own character, but also combat encounters. There are 8 (optional: 9) stats in the system, meaning a perfectly average human has a pool of 40 points. The pool of starting stats is 100. To clarify, all rolled dice depend on the skill. If you have 7 strength, you roll a d7

That is the first paragraph of the spoiler of Stats in the OP. An average Human has 5 points in all stats to show that they are average. Nothing special. If that wasn't the case, then I wouldn't have brought it up :/

Edit: Also, Option 1 it is. I agree that that would be simpler now that I think of it.]

EDIT: to unfog my point:

PC's get 100 stat points to spend.

however, The race and type should be a modifier.

Example
Average human with nothing special: 5 points in all stats
Magical human, 10 points in Mana, Skill, magic, and resistance, 5 in the rest.
Super human, 10 points in Health, Speed, Strength, and Defense, 5 in the rest.
Etc Etc.

Perks could be the further tailored to a specific race, such as Perks that let you revive during combat or grants you temporary armor while taking damage. (Though it would be a thing to discuss at character creation.)

Modifiers for npcs maybe, not for pcs. Pcs should be on an equal playing ground.

Pc's should be on equal playing grounds, but as it stands right now they aren't.

we have 3 (more actualy but eh...) high damage dealing people: Icarus, Hilda, and Ashley.

Icarus is a robot that can actively boost her systems and overlocks her systems when killed the first time.
Hilda can re-arrange her stat points and be a big ass wall or a big glass cannon.
Ashley has maximum points in badassary and can stop time during a badass attack.

Then we look at the far more average characters:
Dalia can curse people, useful but couldn't stand her own ground against a well armed enemy.
Alice is a healer so explains itself.
Linda has a high strength, but she is just as squishy as a glass cannon.

My point is that not everyone is equal on terms of fairness.

Linda is more high damage than Ashley. Ashley only embargos people.

That is always going to be the case and I disagree with almost all of the ones you call average. Alice has saved many people from death, Dalia can make an enemy almost useless with cursed. Just because someone isn't flashy does not mean they aren't powerful.

Your suggestion would only widen the power gaps anyway so I'm not really sure how that supports your idea.

I'm going by pure DPS however. Linda has higher damage, but due to her low SPD, She tends to go later down the initiative board and could be out dodged while taking more damage than Ashley would. Ash slows down her oppoenents and can teleport giving her a high DPS than someone with a higher strength. The two highest DPS characters are Ashley and Sen, Ashley with her embargo, and Sen with her paper magic (lets face it, if she attacked with 100 paper that each dealt 1 damage, thats 100 damage per attack. Good thing that isn't how that works :P) if she gets a good rhythm going.

@Kansa, What I mean is the survivability of said characters.
My suggestion is by far not complete. I am more trying to raise the discussion of it first. Because lets face it, the stat system works, but as Nomads plot pointed out, we still have OP player characters. I don't include Seras because she was introduced during the plot and is currently getting nerfed.

Akroma has already stated in the past that doesn't happen anymore, if she dies in the body she is in she is dead for real.

For the perk firstly if it is against multiple enemies who spread out she is screwed next turn, the stat boosts only last for one turn so if she doesn't kill everything first she is dead. Secondly Icarus is level 5, that means she got a new perk recently while all of us are still on level 4 or below. Once we get a new perk we will get cool stuff too. Thirdly it is once per plot, that means that if you have a lot of fights she basically has one chance to get up and do that. It's pretty balanced

PC's get 100 stat points to spend.

however, The race and type should be a modifier.

Etc Etc.

Perks could be the further tailored to a specific race, such as Perks that let you revive during combat or grants you temporary armor while taking damage. (Though it would be a thing to discuss at character creation.)

I understand what you're trying to say. But I don't feel that your race should give you additional stat points or abilities. Mostly because you can distribute your stats however you want, so it won't actually add anything interesting to character creation. If you're a vampire then put your stats to reflect that. If you're a big hulking monster than dump speed and increase strength and defense. But I don't see the point of giving you additional points for being a different race, since either it'll change nothing in the end or you're just giving out free points for being a different race. And if you want free points than take a perk instead.

Pc's should be on equal playing grounds, but as it stands right now they aren't.

-snip-

My point is that not everyone is equal on terms of fairness.

You're comparing apples to oranges here. Yeah, Icarus and Hilda can do tons of damage while Dalia and Alice can't. But Dalia and Alice are not built to deal tons of damage. Dalia is a debuffer and her abilities reflect that. Alice is a healer and she's built like one. And we consciously built our characters like that and we're happy that we did.

To be fair, everybody needs to have the same number of stat points and perks per level. What you do with those stats at character creation is up to the player, but if everybody starts with the same tools and restrictions, and they don't abuse them to make an OP character then the system is fair. Comparing characters on a single thing like DPS doesn't make things less fair, since not everybody is built to deal damage.

I refer to the ass-pullery that is Icarus' revival perk. Honestly, I was having fun with Nomad's plot up until the last moment before Selkhim was defeated when Akroma decided to reveal her Health perk and blast a hole in the atmosphere. Really all that perk does is give Icarus a second health bar that caps at 5HP. 5 HP is a lot when you suddenly become able to boost your stats by 250%. I mean why does Icarus even need that perk when her current body being destroyed has literally no consequences for her since she resides in a black box and still has the Pixel-01? Seriously...

She spent a perk on it, it only activates once per plot, and Smurf approved of it. I don't see what's so unfair about it, given the limits built into it. Icarus isn't going to keep coming up from the dead every time she's killed. Just once per adventure, and at a HP value that's very easy to whittle down.
