it's just a bit bullshit that ther explosion indicators were hidden by the previous explosions, so that Isaac, who already had to deal with quite a bit of very sudden "you get damaged, no save" stuff in this dungeon gets hit by TWO of them at once. The same thing happened in the first turn where the golem started the arcane barrage. An explosion started right under isaacs feet, and immediatly exploded, bam, 14 damage that was entirely unavoidable. We have no escape route, so Isaac could not even retreat when he was low, he was just kinda exploded with no warning or chance of avoiding it.

Note btw, I am doing a massive asspull to save Isaac. Technicaly, stabilisation rolls are penalized by the amount of health you are already missing, in this case a -9 roll. the TN is 5. Technicaly, the roll is impossible for Icarus to beat, because her overdrive does not actually increase her skill at CPR, just literaly her precision and reaction time. Isaac is technicaly already did, and the vast majority of the damage he took to kill him was entirely unavoidable.

It is precisely stuff like this why Sanure demanded to be asked for permission prior to Sen being killed - because this is literaly arbitrary GM decisions. You were the one who placed the first explosion on the map and decided that it would hit Isaac, and you were the one who put 2 previously invisible explosions on the map, precisely where isaac would be standing. Isaac was not killed by the golem, or by making poor choices or being too weak, he was killed because you decided "well, time for you to take damage now"

That was completely fair. You guys just don't seem to be doing what the fight is encouraging. Moving about the map. Icarus is already fast, and Isaac could propel himself on projections. It's really not that hard to do.

err, the first explosion literaly went off right below his feet, while all previous indicators were, well, indicating. He had no dodge roll whatsoever, he was just boom, dealt damage, and not a small amount.


then the second time, Isaac dodged into what looked like a safe position, which was the most logical and straighforward choice to make, as it removed him from hugging the wall and actually gave him more ground to move around - and bam, there's not just one, but *2* of them there, enough to put him so far into the red that by the current rules of the game, Isaac is dead. Again, no chance to react whatsoever, no chance for an Isaac to maybe try and lunge away to safety, or maybe just a bit of GM goodwill to at least only make it one explosion that hits him, to make sure that he actually gets the warning that indeed, some explosion indicators can be out of view.


this was not the enemy or isaac, it was PN dealing direct unavoidable damage, in a fight where there is no retreat

turn 1 of the arcane barrage:
isaac gets exploded. every other explosion gets an indicator for some reason. Only his explodes.


turn 2
Isaac did indeed move to a safe location, but an indicator appears right below him


turn 3
Isaac moved back to his current position, which is only one of two closeby safe locations to move to - but a new indicator appears right next to him


turn 4
Isaac moves to a presumably safe location and is exploded by two invisible indicators.


Isaac was moving plenty, in a way that a) moves him to a closeby safe position and b) because he is a ranged attacker, also kept him far away from the golem - to avoid taking unessesary risks in the form of the golems blade. Plase, I know you hate me and want to call bullshit on everything I say, but at least check the actual events that happened. Isaac was moving, safely dancing around the explosions, except for the one that immediatly went off on him with no warning, and the two invisible ones. Killing him for doing so is not fair. You can argue that moving to an area where you can not be 100% sure you are able to see exactly what is going on in is risky and the damage fair, BUT, at the very least, the very first explosion was bullshit, as it acted inconsistently with the rest of the spell - every other explosion had an indicator, just his went off immediatly. That's 14 damage he should not have taken, which would leave him at 5 HP right now, damage that was dealt entirely at PNs discretion.

Isaac moves back, new indicator appears

Isaac sprints forward 2 tiles, firing a large spike.
Isaac moves forward, and bam, invisible indicators explode him


you are wrong KJ. All I have to say to that. Isaac was moving plenty from safe location to safe location - all the damage he took was unavoidable because either PN simply exploded stuff instantly with no warning, or the warning was invisible

except isaac is ded, and Icarus is at almost 50% health, almost out of mana against an enemy with superior stats to hers, and because PN may be a dick, there is no retreat


unless the arcane barrage nonsense stops, the fight is unwinnable, and even then it is a stretch, I will have to cheese it hard

How about everyone stop arguing about a game. The number one reason that people get into arguments on here is because of the game. Either someone doesn't like the plot, or something seems unfair, or something seems so ass-puled that it isn't fun.
