I guess demons play with souls like we play with trading cards. There are tons of shit ones, but a collector with lots of either rare or powerful souls could do well with them.

How do they deal with inflation? Do souls get exchanged for newer souls after a set amount of time with the old souls being moved into slave duty so that the amount of currency doesn't just keep on increasing?

No, whomever is in charge stores the souls en masse, and releases them as needed.

What would you rather it be? Would you rather it be about the entire setting? My pet peeve is shoddy world-building. If there isn't internal consistency as to the why of things, it's shoddy worldbuilding. I'm a worldbuilder, so I notice this stuff. If you don't like it, too godsdamned bad. You don't get to tell me what my 'bugbears' are.

I mean, god-fucking-damn, Kj. You've been on my case about my views on this type of shit from day one, it feels like, and it's getting annoying. Disagree with the way I play if you like, but don't fucking dismiss it like I'm inferior for it.

Sidenote: Apologies for the anger, though I'm not gonna take it back. Other threads have been pissing me off and making me irritable.

@Sanure: Yes, I understand they collect souls, figured they'd use them as trade(or some similar fashion of use for them), but the thing I'm asking is why? What's the point of doing so?

A few things:

1. Don't start fights. I believe you are taking things out of context.
2. Shoddy world building isn't involved. A lot of the lore for hell is an unknown currently due to not much being built on it other than a few demons here and there and a few set in stone things about the lords of hell and such.
3. This one is important, Don't bring you anger here from another forum game. This somehow summons Toady one to the forum.


Anyways, Just consider demons as Collecters of unique souls that belong to a set. Some demons want Warrior souls, others want Intelligent souls, while others want something else.

Souls aren't really used as slaves in Hell. The weaker ones maybe, but the More Unique souls are used as symbols of power and rank.

Example: If Sen had the soul of Alexander the Great, Sen would probably be considered quite powerful for having retched that soul from whoever powerful entity had it before.

To be perfectly honest, A lot of the missing lore that we have on hell needs to be fixed and then set in stone. Souls is one of the things broken.

Yeah, afterlives tend to be iffy since its pretty much defined by @Elf, @GWG, @Ragnarok and everyone else who has anything pertaining to it.

I know little enough of the lore that I won't get bogged down by trying to make it all fit together nicely and instead just hack at it until it actually works.

If there's difficulties that actually make a difference in the storyline/current characters, I think we can be assured someone would inform me of them so I could fix it. Hopefully they would also provide the resident background lore on the subject so I don't have to chop too much stuff up in the process and just use the existing lore when possible. If they didn't give it, I would ask.

Would that be suitable?
