I usually let surprise attacks/sneak attacks that occur before combat instakill, if it's the dagger in bed situation. For example, when REI ran Winry through with her tail, if he went through the skull instead, she'd be dead right now.

Don't get me wrong, I go with realism, I just prefer for there to be both in synch.

Also, HP being plot armor is so much bullshit it pisses me off.

I personally prefer chunky salsa, but this game is a stat game after all.

* Atnegam wants to try to get all the worms back into the can he opened and dropped because scary worms but he can't because scary worms. And slimy. And scary.

I personally prefer chunky salsa, but this game is a stat game after all.
I understood that reference.

Chunky salsa is hard to arbitrate once people become magically tough/magical armor/magical healing/you get the idea.

Like...the hulk simply can't die since it just pisses him off more and he keeps hulking out. So...

I'll just stop talking though because I see that I'm the only one on my side...

The only problem I have with leaning towards realism for those situations is that the game system is an abstraction, so mixing the two starts to make things gamey. So if you can instakill some in their sleep by slicing the jugular, why can't you do that in combat? Sure, you'll have to take massive penalties to hit, but it'll probably take fewer attacks than going through the fighter's HP normally. But again, I'd like to state that it's always up to the DM and you should never get into those kinds of situations without a good reason. Also insta-killing PCs like that is a good way to make people angry. Dying to something you had no way to stop is incredibly frustrating.

Also, HP being plot armor is so much bullshit it pisses me off.

Given how little of game systems are actually based in reality, I'm perfectly fine with it. It's an abstraction for an abstraction for an abstraction so that we don't get bogged down in rule and can play the game at a reasonable pace.

Wasn't there a system somewhere where like damage was a big deal if you took it was "Git gud" in the sense that you died over and over until eventually you were too good to die or something?

The closest thing to more realistic damage I recall in this game were the characters who were qualified snipers and who could consequently skip a turn to aim at a particular bodypart which could cause more realistic organ damage and whatnot. Though all of them are no longer active.

Cue the Sniper Elite 3 killcams. Those are gory.

Also, what plots are possibly queued up? I think I'm aware of most of them.

well, there's the antarctica plot, which acts as the prologue to my entire plot series, with 2 plots queued up from me soon after, that is the Icarus Plot and the first lolgrammoth plot. The prologue of my plotline also ties into Projecks plot, though I know little about the timeline of that
