Meanwhile in Queensland, your whole year's worth of assessment determines your chance to get in university.

Likewise, not directly here, but basically, your school rank is really important here since for each subject, your school's n^th highest mark in a subject is given to the person with the n^th highest rank in that subject for your school. That means, the person ranked first could pretty much do fuck all in their exam and screw over the lowest ranking person, though chances are, they won't since being rank one means that you're better off doing your best since chances are whatever mark you'll get from yourself is better than whoever ranked second can do.

Distribution and gaps between ranks are also factors along with subject difficulty as well though, which is why I am currently not losing my shit over my 4-Unit Maths rank, since in subjects like that, gaps tend to be very small and scaling ensures that it plays to your favor regardless of your rank as long as you get acceptable results.

Teacher strikes and more have led to me losing a week of school, causing a lot of unneeded stress in what was supposed to be the second to last week, and I now have my exams in... about an hour before I leave...
