You would need 1 point to get into direct combat with a god that does not want to fight you. 3 points is enough to wish a god out of existence.

If your sidekick helps they will not decrease the point cost, but they will make fighting a god a lot more likely to end in your victory. You are somewhere in spazyak's section of Hell, if I recall correctly.
