Looks pretty ambitious... I hope they pull it off.

This is one of these things I always wanted to play but never knew... until now. PTW, see you in a year or two.

What? What do they understand by "classic"? LARPing? I don't understand.

Anyway, it sounds a bit too much like "everything - the game" to turn out quite right. So far the animations look a bit stilted. The rest is to be seen once there's actual gameplay footage.

This will be a very short greenlight campaign.

I have extremely high hopes yet low expectations.

something that bothers me a bit is that some parts looks scripted/purely animated. (Most of the FPS parts, the city building interface is done with a scripted mouse cursor, i suspect) and if i am right and its scripted while they aim for a summer release, then well, either they will release it too early or they wont even be able to release in the summer which makes their statement a bit naive.

Another thing that bothers me is that those towns looks wonderful. really, "hand made" wonderful which will require very strong and diverse building options to achieve and i suspect those are not present in the game yet.

I'm just speculating, but I think this might be one of the "the more you use it the better you get at it" kind of skill systems. So to do more damage with a longsword and be faster, you use a longsword. Whether that means they are "hiding" the stats or not I don't know.

Anyway I share your (and others) pessimism. I feel like there have been so many games I've been burned on over the last few years that normally while I would be super excited about this game in 2008, I just kinda go, "Huh, neat," now. Will keep an eye on this and post any relevant updates.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That said, the scope is so broad that I'll believe it when I see a feature-complete final product.

I'd be quite okay with an incomplete, quirky game as long as it's fun (and moddable).

see: Mount & Blade.

Has anyone made Everything:  The Game, yet?  Because I would like to play that.  Could be the DF followup that begins construction in 2042.

Also, this looks and sounds awesome.  To protect my heart, I must view it with Fable-like skepticism.  Or rather, the skepticism developed after the release of Fable.

They haven't really promised anything.

They are doing what I call the Bait and Reach. They give you a little vague info so you will fill in that information yourself, or rather reach.

The "Ripples" can mean as much as "if you buy a lot of pots, then the price for pots go up".
