Jee wilikers, I think Highmax is near invulnerable, must have been dunked in the river styx like achilles was.
Just make sure he wears a boot.

*oh wait crap he posted I have to do something one second*
Quickly! Take out my nunchucks!
I should probably save my magic power for now.
((Also, that was the best flashback I've ever had.))

(Sorry, I haven't been in an extremely RP-y mood recently.)
Gather several coils of rope, attach them to hooks, then give them to whatever crew wants them in order to throw at the Retribution.

Gather several coils of rope, attach them to hooks, then give them to whatever crew wants them in order to throw at the Retribution.

The crew are an industrious sort - with the Retribution coming in to board, boarding hooks in and of themselves are of little use.  But as the enemy lower their gangplanks and begin to advance across them, Charles and Carter hurl the hooks onto the gangplanks and heave, with Michael and Cragg helping them - [Strength: 1!, 20! ] Charles and Michael lose their grip on the hook and rope, and the weight pulls them smack onto the deck, prone.  Carter and Cragg, however, manage to snap the second gangplank in half - [Reflex: 15, 16] one of the pink-liveried soldiers scrambles onto the deck in time, the other hangs on for dear life onto the ship's guardrail.  Greene hurls a javelin at the hanging soldier [18+5] and he [Con: 2] loses his grip and falls into the sea.  Vidik, the remaining pirate, draws his shortbow and fires at the crewman still crossing the other gangplank, [19+1] striking him in the chest and knocking him overboard.

On the other side of the ship, a figure emerges from the captain's cabin, robed in green silks with a pink sash across her chest.  A distinctive symbol is embroidered onto the sash and the robes; a snake curled around a sprig of nightshade.  She extends her hand and a wisp of green light streaks from her fingers and onto the middle of the deck - the light flashes and in its place is a brilliant green serpent, a metre long.  It hisses and lashes out at Varg, [1!] missing him completely and smacking its head against the deck as he dodges out of the way.  It shakes itself and readies for another strike.

The captain of the vessel lets go of the helm and draws a beautiful white yew longbow - which he proceeds to draw and fire, [7+8, 20% cover chance] straight into quartermaster Greene's arm.  The arrow actually passes through the flesh, taking a chunk with it but causing relatively little damage.

Circumstances have changed, so you have the option to change your actions if you wish.  The current turn order is Caerill, Varg, Captain Reach, Mila, the soldiers and Galan.  Check the game board for the current positions of tokens.

[OOC:  Apologies for my own absence, it's been a hectic week and I've not been feeling great.  Hopefully all should be better now, though.]

Varg recalls something

I've met one of her Kinsmen before. He bore a poisoned spear and shared her heraldry. If she's like her kinsman, it would be best to be careful around her.

((I'll get my action as soon as I go back on and see the positions))

EDIT:

Varg takes his longsword and attacks the serpent!

(No need.)
A mix of fear and anger comes over Caerill's face when he sees the woman. He frowns, then goes near to the Retribution and yells out, about the din of battle, "What's red, underwater, and foolish? Well, the crew of the Retribution by daybreak!".
Cast inspire courage on the crew of the Shallow Hope!

((Ugh... Sorry about this.))

Move the 15 feet needed to get the flanking bonus against the snake with Varg. Basic melee attack against the snake, because I doubt that it can be tripped.

Cast inspire courage on the crew of the Shallow Hope!

The crew let out a cheer and a laugh at your words, and grip their blades that little tighter.  [+1 to attacks and damage for all friendly parties, and increased saving throw against fear and charm effects.  This lasts for as long as Caerill keeps inspiring, and five rounds thereafter.]

[10+4+1] You're a fine hand with a blade, but not quite enough to evade the serpent's quick slithering.  It barely slips out of the way of your blade.  Additionally, your ability to detect good kicks in - the enemy captain appears to be good, whereas the rest of their crew are either neutral or evil.

Captain Reach hustles over the gangplank and hurls a throwing knife across the deck of the Retribution [10+7+1-2].  The knife slashes across the enemy captain's arm, drawing blood.

((Ugh... Sorry about this.))

Move the 15 feet needed to get the flanking bonus against the snake with Varg. Basic melee attack against the snake, because I doubt that it can be tripped.

[15+4+1+2, 1d8+3+1=11] You side-step around the serpent and bring your flail down hard upon it, crushing its skull even as it slithers away from Varg's stroke.  The creature shatters into tendrils of green smoke as it dies, even the splatters of gore on your flail.

The surviving ordinary soldier aboard the Retribution rushes Captain Reach, [13+1] drawing his sword and striking Reach [3] across the chest, the blade drawing blood but not cutting deep.

"Cap'n! There be something... unusual about that woman there! She be a cleric or summat!"
Destroy the most immediate threat with nunchucks.

With the serpent gone, the nearest threat is the soldier attacking Captain Reach.  You hustle over the gangplank and [11+1-2] although you strike him with your nunchucks, the blow glances off his pink-liveried leather armour.

Greene hurls another javelin, this time at the woman in the green dress [10+1+4-2, 5+3], striking her dead in the shoulder.  Blood flows freely from the wound, and she staggers.  The remainder of the crew raise their bows and draw them, aiming at the enemy captain and firing.  Three of the arrows hit, striking the captain in the leg and twice in the chest.  He staggers for a moment, bloodied and injured.  Then he draws his bow again and points it at Captain Reach, firing.  [13+7+1, 8+1] The arrow takes Reach in the leg, and sticks.  He yowls in pain and anger.

The woman in green pulls the javelin from her shoulder and gestures with it towards Vidik.  A high-pitched keening sound erupts from his chest, and those around him clutch their heads in pain.  The sound reverberates through the skulls of those nearby, and Carter, Cragg and Vidik collapse to the ground, blood flowing freely from their ears and nostrils.  Varg takes 2 sonic damage, Mila takes 6.

Combat order continues as before.  Caerill, Varg, Captain Reach, Mila, the soldiers and Galan.
