Here's my sheet.

I haven't gotten any of the personality/description stuff down yet, but mechanics-wise it's completed so I'd just like someone to look over it for me. Also to reserve my spot so that someone doesn't snipe it.

Mechanics fine, personality fine.  Really like the "trip hazard" character design.  Just PM me or state here a personal goal and you're good.

Game will probably start in 5-6 hours, when I get home from work and write up the starting post.  Make sure you can access the Roll20 page here (also now in OP).

Here's my inventory, then.
Spoiler: Inventory (click to show/hide)
Most of these Caerill has probably had for the majority of his adult life apart from the sheets. His net worth is usually 30 gold on average, and all of it is carried in his pocket.

I'll just take the paladin's starting gear from the PHB. I don't need nothing fancy

Awesome, I guess everything done for now. So if you'd excuse me, I'm going to drink heavily because I'm playing a Fighter in D&D 3.5e. It was either that or a monk.

Are you charisma based with improved initiative? :P

Man, I wish I was because it'd mean I'd be playing as a Sorcerer and therefore would have mad magics at my disposal. As opposed to having... tripping. Which is great until the spellcasters get their hands on anything more powerful than an acid orb.

Galan, you're in your fifties or so.  How long were you a sailor for, and how long a woodworker?  This is, as it were, a life's dream unfulfilled until late age.  Also, unless you specify otherwise I will assume you are unmarried and childless.

I wish I had a link to it.

The new person makes a charisma based fighter in 3 or 3.5, took improved initiative and a few other things (cloth armor for example) that made everyone make fun of her. First encounter rolls like this:

Fighter gets first attack! Hits a goblin! Fighter has first strike and attacks again! Crits! Gets another attack. Crits again! gets an extra attack whenever she drops an enemy! Crits again! Crits again! Drops the entire encounter by herself as the sorceress (played by a guy) kills the party bard and the monk does nothing.

You found out her crit range is 13-20... Without bonuses

Spoiler: The Storm Coast (click to show/hide)

Episode One

The Fair Maiden set sail two weeks ago on the three-week journey between the Lowland Cities and the Republic of Groan.  Along with its cargo of fine tapestries and spices from the Samakhet Isles, it carries four individuals whose lives are about to take a distinct turn.

The Maiden is a three-masted setee, built more for cargo capacity than for speed, and her bulky design reflects it.  She has only limited oar-banks, and is designed to be run by a skeleton crew - which is more or less what is running her.  Including Lord Physic, the owner of the ship and her nominal captain, and those four who this tale concerns, there are only a dozen crewmen aboard the Maiden.  Lord Physic himself is a minor member of the influential Ligorian noble family, House Vandire, and something of a savvy merchant.  The Maiden is very lightly armed, with only a pair of ordinary medium-range ballistae, one on either side.

Of the four we are concerned with, the first is Mila Asenov, a soldier in the employ of Lord Physic.  Having been selected for her skill with the flail and trained in his lordship's service, Mila owes her skill as a warrior to House Vandire and has been repaying it for the last year by serving as Lord Physic's bodyguard and general dogsbody.  It is incredibly dull work.

Varg's history is less clear.  The crew know he is a religious man, and a capable fighter, but little beyond the fact that he is Lord Physic's second bodyguard.  He has only signed on with Lord Physic for a couple of months.  Most assume that as a Weylander he is working passage to get a ship home via the port of Arland.

Caerill Crundmail is a passenger, rather than straight crew, but he appears to be a reasonable navigator and knows his way around the ship.  He takes meals with the crew and often entertains them with bawdy jokes.

Galan Morgawyn is the ship's mage.  An old sorcerer whose powers never fully manifested, Galan is known to have had some training in magic in his youth; enough that combined with his natural spark he can run the ship's wind ring, a rather expensive magic circle that helps gather and direct winds into the ship's sails - without it, the ship would be rather slower than it is now.

It is a rainy day on the open sea, with only a light breeze to push the ship.  Galan is busy maintaining the wind ring, guiding the few gusts of air into the sails to push the ship on course.  Visibility is fair, but it's hard to make out the horizon through the downpour.  As a result, only Caerill and Varg spot the sail in the distance; what appears to be a single-masted corvette or sloop, moving on a course to intercept.  The little ship is moving quickly, but comparably to the magic-assisted setee.  They don't appear to be flying colours, and it's hard to make out details at this distance.

What do you do?

"... And when the comely maiden went to check on the lord," says Caerill into his foldout mirror quietly, with the tone of voice that accompanies good punchlines. "He said, 'By the gods of yore, my lady, this is a church!"

After a distinct pause, he takes out a piece of parchment and writes in a clipped typeface "needs snappier punchline, lead-in is too short" in the common tongue. Striding to the side of the ship dramatically, he looks upon the fog with bright blue eyes. Caerill is attractive in an almost noble fashion, with a tasteful nose, a boyish build, and an elegant if slightly unusual black hair with lots of spikes. His outfit shows off the best of him and is quite aerodynamic, with some padded leather in order to prevent any injuries during his more physical comedy routines. He stares out at the sea, then his eyebrows quirk upward in theatrical fashion.

"Hrm. I'm on a ship to a new land, with the urge to go on a quest that will define my life. There is a ship without a flag rapidly approaching. Either I read too many penny dreadfuls or there is truth in fiction." he says mostly to himself. Then, he...
Turns to the crew and asks them whose ship that is, pointing if needed.

Galan responds to Caerill, striding over and pausing his showy motions. He asks Caerill in a sea-hardened old man's voice,

"What're ye talking about?"

Galan gazes over at where Caerill is staring. (Assuming that since Caerill has a -1 on Spot, taking a 20 will allow me to spot the ship with my +1.)

"Aye, I know not what that may be, young man."

Call to the Captain.

"Captain! There be a ship on the horizon!

Varg, a little uneasy from the rain, let's the other call to the captain as he tells the others he'll keep watch on the ship.

If the ship turns this way, alert the others. I don't trust the fact they fly no colours. Keep detect good on in case I spot the others as a friendly ship. Otherwise, if I don't detect it, be ready for anything, hand firm on the hilt, ready to strike

"I'm not too keen on the rain to begin with, but a ship flying no colours? This I trust less...

Mila looks up from whatever she's doing and sighs. She goes to grab her weapons and check her armour for the upcoming fight. Obviously no doubt exists in her mind that the ship without a flag is a pirate vessel. Or at the very least something happened to it which will require investigating. Either way it'd be best to be prepared in case something happens.
