I guess they must be playing a mix CD, but this is just a random mom and pop corner community coffee shop, and right in the middle of typical light jazz and non-abrasive pop songs and the like, Toady himself on the acoustic guitar!

None of the baristas seem to know who chose the music. But somewhere there is a mysterious soulmate pulling the strings here.

Currently taking suggestions for complicated dwarven traps to identify and cage them for further !!Science!!

Alternatively, to appear as less of a crazy person spouting absurd questions, bring in a laptop and play DF within view of most of the shop.
Alternatively, to appear as even more of a crazy person spouting absurd questions, build a few ☼cardboard cages☼ and trap the employee traffic zones while you ask about the HFS and what the employee's material preferences are.

There's something really odd with music playing at coffee bars...
I remember once while eating breakfast at some coffee place in Stockholm, and suddenly they started playing that HEYEYA WATS GOING ON song from youtube.

Technically it doesn't matter.  Businesses are supposed to license the background music they use, although there's some fuzziness around just leaving a radio on loud enough for customers to hear.

Those getting their music piped in from Muzak or a corporate parent's "radio" services are in the clear.  In general those hooking up an iPod are not, although explicitly "royalty-free" music would be okay.

True. I guess I personally would be more bothered if some label had thrown my music into their Smooth Jazz Sensations Vol. 26 without credit (though technically mine could at least be used without royalties) than if some random mom-n-pop were playing it because they thought it was nice to listen to. In any case, clearly Toady should make more music with smoother jazz sensations so that he can bring in the infinite love and revenue of small businesses that appreciate flamenco-style dwarfcore.
