+1 to shipment job 3. It seems the most interesting and we don't need credits that badly atm.

We should take Shipment 3 and Shipment 4 because they are to the same system.

Mancomb sends back a message of acceptance, and the unknown employer replies almost instantaneously. They want to meet about 100 kilometers away from the station. It is still close enough to make a retreat to this port if needed, so the engines are fired up and the Bonny May moves to the location. Upon reaching the destination, another ship is reported to be in the area. A signal is received.
Is this the ship 'The Bonny May'?
Indeed it is. We are here for the shipment job.
Acknowledged. We have dropships loaded with the shipment. Requesting that you open your cargo bay loading doors to accept.
Open the hold?

The technicians are idle.
The scientists continue. [36]

Allow one in at a time with enough time interspaced for us to search for explosives first. Let them know this.

Open the cargo doors, station half of the infantry down in the holds out of sight of where the ships will be unloaded, and have the weapons manned but unpowered.

The weapons are already manned. A squad of infantry to search each in turn is fine.
Quite frankly I think even that's a bit much, but caution is good. No need to deploy half our marines, though.

Well practiced caution is better then playing at caution, plus it'll be good for the men to get some work in. Think of it more as a training exercise for how the troops will act, and coordinate in various circumstances not to mention it might improve morale a bit for the infantry to have something to do for a change.

Only let one onboard at a time, they let us search it, then they unload it, then we search the stuff they unloaded, then their dropship leaves, then repeat.

I already have the update written up with Kevak's initial suggestion. Should I post it or wait a bit more in case of any changing minds?

Kevak's original suggestion is good as it holds the majority, so just go ahead and post it.

Kehkehkehkeh!

Okay, send only one ship at a time. We want to sweep for explosives. Please excuse my paranoia.
[13] Roger. We understand, sending one in now.
The first dropship makes its way into the cargo bay, and a group of soldiers quickly sweeps it for explosives. [6] The infantry report that, while there are no explosives on board, it appears that there are quite a few men inside. The initial scans say that they are armed [18] but don't have any body armor. [20] It appears that the other ship does not yet realize we know. The enemy's weapons are uncharged.
How do the crew and Mancomb respond?

The technicians are idle.
The scientists continue. [31]

Order all of the infantry down into the hold, and have them clear the ship post haste.
Launch all fighters, and combat drones stat.
As fighters launch power up the ships weapons, and open fire focusing on their weapons and the engines.
After the first salvos are fired, and the fighters launch send out the bombers who are to prioritize hitting any critical systems with each bomber getting two fighters as an escort.

(Told you guys btw :| I knew the deal was shady, hence why I wanted the easy salvage job)

Mancomb quickly dispatches the infantry down to the cargo bay, and orders the drones to be brought online. Next, the weapons are activated and begin charging. A few seconds after, the fighters and bombers are all in prepped and ready for combat. Immediately after the first battery's salvo, they launch. Obviously not expecting an attack, the enemy frigate is in disarray. Their other dropships go down, defeated by the combat drones. The infantry already in the cargo bay take up positions around the remaining dropship, and wait for reinforcements.
Combat Report:

First Salvo - 5,19,18,10; 0,10,11,10 - The shot from the first cannon misses, and the second manages to re-correct in enough time to land a hit. The final two shots hit right on. The shots damaged, in order: the hull for 10 damage, the engines for 11, and the engines for 10.
--
Fighters and Bombers - En route, within engagement distance next turn.
--
Drones - 20,11,12,2,20; 13,7,13,19 - The drones managed to kill the three remaining dropships, and whatever was on them, despite one missing.
--
Infantry - Available infantry taking cover, reinforcements eta by next turn. Cargo bay dropship does not know of assault yet, it seems.

The scientists continue working steadily. [36]
The technicians are idle.
