My dwarves aren't attacking a dangerous creature
« on: May 25, 2014, 01:16:07 pm »

a titan came to my fort and he was a blob made out of fire, he has a shell, and he can't move so all he did was burn half of the grass (rain stopped it) when i moved my soldiers to where he was the titan was chucking fireballs, but my soldiers were blocking the shots and ignoring the titan. Once I got my soldiers close enough that he was breathing fire but thankfully he was 1 tile out of range. When i told my soldiers to kill it they went away to train. and when i told them to go where he was they did they same. So any ideas i could cage/kill this guy? Also i don't have access to GCS so i can't web a trap. I don't even have access to a cavern even through i searched for one.

Might be because it is burning that dwarves won't path to it.

Try getting some marksdwarves in there. Fire creatures are quite fragile.

Militia seem to have a hard time equipping themselves at times.

Make sure their equipment isn't in bins, as that seems to mess them up at times. Be sure to give them some time on active duty with nothing to do before giving an order, as it will take some time for them to get their stuff.

Creatures made of fire are bugged to both A. Not move or path at all once they're in your map area and B. Not be acknowledged by your military dwarves.

Marksdwarves won't work, so don't bother (they won't acknowledge the creature). Best bet is to get a safe distance from the creature's attacks and spam siege engines at it. Like Flyme said, they're very fragile and will go down pretty easily, but a traditional military is useless

A minecart might work too.

I wonder if water would kill it, or if it would evaporate the water like a lignite bin.

If the water still pushes it, maybe you could move it around after enough tedious effort. Then you could hide it in your main entrance behind something building destroyers will topple and have a building destroyer burner if it will attack them.

I vote for this. Ballista bolts will pretty well destroy anything.

Is it in an an area where you could cause a cave in?
