Migration size question.
« on: May 24, 2014, 12:45:14 pm »

Does anyone know exactly how fortress wealth effects migrant waves? i have a fortress and i kept my (or at least I think I kept it low)
and I still got a fairly large (I guess it would actually be fairly standard size now that I think about it) migration wave.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I had about twelve dwarves before the wave and this one was the first wave of the second spring. I reached pop cap of a hundred at the end of that year, and the wealth didn't increase much. is their any real way to limit migration wave size, or do i just have to keep  slowly raise the pop cap each year? :-\

Well you could start writing down the migration sizes and wealth. Once we have enough observations, we can do some regression analysis. The number of dwarves that died could be another significant variable.

Meanwhile, use the cap. Or kill off excess dwarves.

I think there was a theory about how many tiles you've dug influencing it as well.

let excess ones live on the surface on wilde strawberry. They can spot and distract ambush, and can haul logs near to the entrance. And their misfortune won't bring unhappy thought to underground citizens. They should live long enough before enough slabs are produced. Ghost usually appears at least several months after the actual death.
