It is not that Music went extinct. It just never actually was in this universe. Bands and Musicians are travelers from interplanar swirl and they use the elements of their original plane. Being a bit ghostly at times and dissipating into thin air after The Battle.

The aforementioned interplanar swirl occured only because of an event known as "the Leak", which was also felt by the great elementalists of the current world and this topic's setting.

There is a city of glass, suspended in the air by a mixture of magic and technology.
It is populated by a race of animated glass golems, who feed on magical residue.
The golems were made by a race of ant golems created by ancient beings.
Magic is purely elemental in nature, composed of the elements EARTH, FIRE, WIND and WATER. There is also a fifth element, believed to be lost, known as MUSIC.
People who practise the fifth element are known as Musicians, and being to various groups known as bands.
All but one are ghosts, cursed to eternally wander the world. It is said that these ghosts meet once a year at the venter of the planet to have a contest of Music, known as the Battle of the Bands.
The only still-living Musician is known as the Lady of the Serenade.
No one know who or where she is.
Music never actually existed, and is an element form another universe. Bands and Musicians, are travellers from interplanar swirl who use elements of their original planes.
This inter planar swirl occurred only because of 'The Leak' which occurred when a god peed his pants.
The Leak was felt by great elementalists of this world.

The god on top of "The tower of heaven" is said to be the twin of Tz'eecuse.
They were the first to be conjured through the creation myth.
According to this legend, they are each others nemesis and will one day fight to the death at the end of time.
No one ever knows what the outcome will be.
