Sounds cool, but I suck at making things.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Alright, so over the last half of a day I have come up with some ground rules and also a rating system If people are interested(obviously can be changed). Also, I should have made clear that while this will be predominantly bay12forums users I intend on telling people on other forums such as gamedev.net and osdev.

Obviously these are up for discussion. Once stuff Is decided on I will put a webpage online for It(have a webserver sitting across the room from me) and publish a more official thread on Bay12 and on other forums.

Thanks for the interest.

I don't think difficulty of code should be a grading consideration. The language of choice should have been chosen because the programmer thought it was the best in this case. Also, difficulty is subjective--some people think C is a nightmarish language while others are comfortable in it, etc

However you could argue that to get a working prototype It would take more LOC or time for a program in C than a program in say python

By coding in Python you sacrifice power and speed. Language should not be a rating consideration, because a lot of people know a lot of different languages and every language has it's own use cases.

I'd say to just let people vote for which program they think is the best.

That could be a good idea, It is just we need a poll that cannot be biased as happened with the roguelike of the year poll going to noxico, although a rating scale may be a good idea If people doing a programming jam for the first time as It can give them pointers where they may need to improve in order to become better programmers (not saying anybody Is in a real position to dictate this however).

I'll have a look at what's done. Since I am once again returning to the banging of heads against walls that is trying to figure out how to programming anything remotely complex or useful.

Since I think I will be able to start It in roughly early august after going over It a bit, It shouldn't be too hard to learn programming over that time.

Alright, I am currently programming the website, please post comments of what you want on the website (nothing to special, I only know HTML/CSS, no real embedded web languages) such as forums and such.

Simultaneously I am figuring out how we will go about accepting entries and such.

Thanks for your time

I was thinking this might be a little more low-key, kinda like the 14 day roguelike challenges we had a while back.

Well the base website Is finished, will be opening the port and providing a dynamic dns service to the server soon. I will produce a separate thread for that soon

Also, while this is a predominantly a bay12 jam this will be mentioned on different forums as well (such as gamedev.net).

I will be doing the full announcement tomorrow.
